Vacation photos!!!
As mention in earlier posts, earlier this month I went to Phuket, and I took a digital camera along. Here are some of the best photos.

The pool at my hotel. If you look carefully, you can just about see me on that bridge ;)

Phuket was among the areas that took quite a beating during the infamous Boxing Day tsunami of 2004. We've learnt our lesson since, and at the beaches affected, the authorities have put up signs moting evacuation routes.

You probably don't recognize this guy, but if you're into computer graphics, you may recognize the name: this is Les Piegl, a co-author of The NURBS Book. For all you ever wanted to know about NURBS and then some, this Wikipedia article should have you covered, and if not, hey, there's always Piegl's book ;) Piegl is also the main chair of the CAD Conferences.

I participated in two days of the conference. This was the weather on the evening of my first day: wet and rainy. This picture should give you the idea.

In contrast, my 2nd day (which was also the day I presented my work), it was sunny all day straight into the evening...

...which allowed me to take this photo of the view of the sea. Well, it did look great at the time...

This is the hotel. The Phuket Kata Resort. June also saw the 60th anniversary of the current king's ascension to the throne, thus the display.

This photo doesn't really do the view justice, but even on the road back to the airport there were great views of the sea.

Even the airport itself is on the sea (and that's our flight home in this picture).

This is the airport, as seen from the plane. Nice.
Comments, anyone?
