Back at the Hamadas' garage, Hiro gets to work fixing Baymax's Big Brother scanner helmet, then tries to open Baymax's card port without success, even after taking off his chest plate...

Bay: "Will terminating Prof. Callaghan improve your emotional state?" Hiro is not sure about this, or anything for that matter, he just wants Bay's card port to open... Bay: "Is this what Tadashi wanted?" Hiro seems to be really ticked off that Bay's bringing Tadashi up again, and in utter exasperation and anger, yells: "Tadashi is gone!"... (Thankfully, Baymax is down to just his vinyl skin, or else Hiro's fists would be feeling pretty sore right about now...)

And in response, Bay replies: "Tadashi is here." So now we have this emotional scene in which the younger sib has a poignant one-on-one with the older sib's creation/companion... hey, wait a minute...

(Disney Screencaps)

On Bay's screen, a video of the late Tadashi testing his robot is playing... Hiro watches his brother persevering with getting Baymax to work right in spite of setback after setback, including blacking out his room (!)

Tadashi: "I'm not giving up on you" Huh, just like what he said to his brother :-) "You don't understand this yet, but people need you, so let's get back to work :-)"

Finally, on attempt number 84, he gets the thing to work :-) And he's super ecstatic about it, so he has Bay scan him: "Your neurotransmitter levels are elevated. This indicates that you are happy" "I am, I really am :-D Wait till my brother sees you... you're gonna help so many people buddy. So many :-)" Tadashi is satisfied with his care, and the picture freezes. Hiro puts a hand to the picture, and says "Thanks", before conceding "I guess I'm just not like my brother..." DAWWW...

The rest of gang shows up at the garage, and Hiro apologizes, as Gogo hugs him (double DAWW), promising to catch that rogue scientist, "And this time, we'll do it right :-)" Wasabi chides him for stranding his teammates on the spooky island, and Fred reveals how they got off: His servant picked them up in the family's chopper :-D

Honey hands Hiro a USB stick for him to see: It's video of the experiment, in which they see Bob angrily yelling at Al for proceeding with the unsafe experiment, and wonder why he's a) so ticked off about it and b) even there in the first place. They rewind and see Bob chatting with Abigail before boarding the pod, so they then fast forward over to her getting into her pod. Hiro freeze frames on Abby and zooms in on the side of her helmet to reveal that it says "Callaghan" :-0 Hiro and Fred briefly become Captain Obvious: "The pilot was Callaghan's daughter; Callaghan blames Krei!" "This is a revenge story." "So what are we waiting for?"

Morning at Al's big new building, where he's bragging about the building, and talking about how some setbacks have "made us stronger and set us on the path to a bright future"... This does not please Bob one bit, with Al implicitly dismissing Abby as just a setback, so he makes his presence known (and how!) with the microbots :-0

Al and Bob have an exposition heavy exchange about the Abby incident, with Bob chewing Al out for his arrogance, and it ends with Bob using the microbots to put up a single portal, with which he intends to suck up Al's building, then Al :-0 Or, in terms of other recent WDAS output...

(Disney Screencaps)

And then guess who shows up... Hiro uses the good old "Revenge won't make things any better for you" argument against Bob wrecking Al's building, adding "Is this what Abigail would have wanted?" Huh, kinda like how Bay asked Hiro one scene ago... And like how Hiro himself responded to Bay, Bob replies "Abigail is gone!" Hiro: "...This won't change anything, trust me, I know" Al tells Bob to listen to the kid and let him go, but instead, Bob decides to channel his inner Liam Neeson and focus his attention on attacking the labmates. His own students, I might add :-/ And once again, Bay's the first to be knocked out, with Hiro getting tossed right into the building :-0

And it doesn't take long for the others to get into trouble either: Gogo gets encased in a big ball of bots, Fred gets stretched on some sort of rack, Wasabi gets squeezed between two panels, and Honey, after trying to lob some of her chem balls at the bots, ends up resorting to using one on herself to protect herself from the incoming onslaught, which quickly pierces through the shell...

While all this is going on, Hiro is hanging upside-down from a rebar, looking a lot like this Garfield strip... :-D

(Disney Screencaps/Garfield.com)

Rebar breaks off and Hiro flies off, and manages to grab onto a cable. He overhears his teammates talking about the intensity of Bob's attack, and he notices that some of the debris hitting his face and flying into the portal is the microbots. This gives him an idea, but his teammates have to bail themselves out first... and for that, he decides to draw some inspiration from his late brother....

"Use those big brains of yours to think your way around the problem! Look for a new angle!"

Spurred on by this piece of advice, Wasabi turns on his blades and smashes down through the "ground" and into the building... Honey takes out a chem ball, and smacks it with her hands on an incoming tendril to pull herself out... Fred is being stretched to the limit, until he realizes it's just his outfit that's being stretched, and his actual hands are free to take the sign that conveniently fell in front of him and wield it to obliterate the rack :-D Gogo gets the most awesome escape of all: she takes out her bubble gum, smacks it on their helmet and then uses all four wheels to cut her way out of the ball... Awesome :-)

Bay finds himself being swamped by the bots as he notices Hiro hanging from the cable. The bots finally flood him, and Bay busts his way out with his rocket fist... Hiro sees Bay approaching, lets go of the cable and grabs onto Bay as he's flying by :-)

Al watches Bay rescue Hiro and says something I think we all can agree with: "I love that robot!" :-) Bob pushes him aside and uses the K logo on a nearby sign to tie him up :-D

Hiro's new plan: take out those microbots and get them sucked into the portal. Wasabi: "Now that is a plan!" :-) But first, he's having Honey and Fred give them some cover using smoke bombs, with Honey throwing some balls up and Fred setting them on fire (and this is the only time that any of the other teammates actually work properly with each other... HUH.)

Bob uses a bunch of bots to create a tall pedestal for himself to get above the smoke, while Hiro has Bay fly up towards the portal, then dive straight down to take out the microbot punches Bob's throwing at him, while under the smoke, the gang gets to work... Wasabi notices the reduced gravity and decides to make like John Carter :-D and jump off a wall to slice up some bots with his green blades of fury (his words!) Gogo tries to one-up Wasabi... or maybe that should be "Woman up!!" :-) as she skates her way up another mass of bots and uses her arm wheels for slicing... essentially turning herself into a living pizza cutter :-D

Back above the smoke, Hiro is having Bay throw some moves at several waves of bots... and back under, Fred's setting some signs on fire and wielding them at the bots, while Honey's attached a stretchy chem ball rope to herself to spring her way up another pile of bots, put her purse in a cranny, take a ball out of her purse, and pelt it at the purse as she's coming down, taking out a load :-) "Now that's what I call a chemical reaction :-)"

Back above the smoke, Bay keeps throwing all the moves he's learned at each wave of bots, saying each one nonchalantly :-) Eventually Bob manages to grab Bay, but Hiro points out that between the pedastal and his grabber thingies, Bob doesn't have any more microbots to actually strike him with as the smoke screen clears to reveal this, and in any case the two quickly break free and fly straight at Bob (!)

But unlike the previous fight, Hiro knows better than to just glibly pummel Bob in the face, and just has Baymax take the mask and smash it :-) causing all the remaining microbot structures to fall apart, including the supports for the portal, which means that the gang has to quickly hustle out of the way...

Incredibly, the portal manages to land relatively upright thanks to the Kreitech debris, but it's not a simple matter of shutting the portal down because of some destabilizing containment field issue, so Hiro is having the rest of the team get away from the area...

But Bay (broken armor and all) is just standing there staring at the portal, as he has detected a female life form in deep sleep coming from over there. No-Prizes for guessing who it is ;-)

Not surprisingly, Hiro decides to go in to look for Abby. Al points out the portal is destabilizing quickly, but Hiro points out that "Someone has to help", which is supposed to be a heroic parallel to Tadashi rushing in to save the senior Callaghan (but CinemaSins just thought it to be doubly stupid ;-)) Bay: "Flying makes me a better health care companion :-)" And on that note, they loop-the-loop into the portal...

And once again, Disney manages to accidentally copy another concurrent movie ;-) Last year we had magically changing dresses, this year we have trippy wormholes. But whereas Nolan went for mindscrew, Disney went for colorful clouds :-)

We have another scene that mostly exists to show off the 3D, as we see a piece of Krei logo sign debris flying by :-) So anyways, Bay and Hiro fly around the Kreitech debris to look for Abby's pod, which they eventually find on its lonesome far from the rest of the debris...

Hiro wipes the front window to reveal the sleeping Abby, and decides to bring her in, and due to damage to Bay's sensors, Hiro has to do the navigation... More 3D friendly flying :-)

As they're nearing the exit, Bay suddenly moves in front of the pod, and a few seconds later we see why, as they're clobbered by a really big piece of debris that strips Bay clean of his chest plate :-0 It's a mighty struggle for Bay to return to the back of the pod as the collision has also made his rocket boosters start to fail intermittently, and Hiro has to help haul him in...

Bay explains that there is still one way to get both Hiro and Abby to safety as he puts his rocket fist to the back of the pod, and it doesn't take a genius (heh) to realize what that is...

Bay repeats what he said about deactivating him: "I cannot deactivate until you say you are satisfied with your care." Hiro: "What about you?" Bay: "You are my patient. Your health is my only concern. Are you satisfied with your care?" Hiro is determined to find a way not to leave Bay behind, but Bay insists: "There is no time... Are you satisfied with your care?" Hiro: "Please... No... I can't lose you too..." Bay: "Hiro... I will always be with you."

And that strikes a chord with Hiro, as it's almost as if its creator was reaching out from beyond the grave to give little brother a little closure... for the next thing he says is "I am satisfied with my care..." And the next thing he hears is the Bayfist firing off, as we see a POV shot of Bay receding into the distance...

Back in San Fransokyo, the pod narrowly beats out the collapse of the portal, before coming to a stop in the middle of the area, and we get a good close-up at the Bayfist shutting down...

The team is happy to see Hiro back, and sad at Bay's demise (as much as you can apply that term to a robot), and we fade from Hiro looking at Abby in the pod to her being loaded onto a gurney, answering questions from some random nurse lady and being wheeled into a waiting ambulance, whose reflection we see in the window of the cop car that her dad is being loaded onto. We see the remaining heroes on the roof of the San Fransokyo Tribune, before they turn around and walk away... Daww...

After a quick TV news report on the damage at Kreitech, at which Bob would probably be offended that the news thinks his attack could have been (even more) disastrous since he only intended to attack the one building (and which, a la The Avengers, also includes the obligatory wondering about those mystery men ;-)) we see the gang hanging out at the cafe before heading off to uni, and as usual, Cass gives Hiro a last hug :-)

In his brother's old SFIT room, Hiro hangs Tadashi's cap from a lamp, and unpacks his goods, including Bay's rocket fist, which he fistbumps, mimicking Bay's "Badala-dala" as he does :-) However, he notices a glint of green from the palm... Huh. He opens the fist to reveal Tadashi's data card. Go figure... (especially since the last time that card wasn't in Bay's slot, things got really ugly) We fade to black from a shot of the card, and if this were a Pete Docter joint for Pixar, you'd expect it to end right there... but WDAS doesn't really do ambiguities, and so...

"Ow?" A pair of eyes open to show a robotic POV looking at Hiro, and we hear a familiar voice saying some familiar words: "I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion. Hello, Hiro :-)"

Hiro and New!Bay share a hug, as we fade to a sequence in SF showing each character at their action-y best, over which Hiro gives a closing narration about their new status quo...

"We didn’t set out to be superheroes. But sometimes life doesn’t go the way you planned. The good thing is, my brother wanted to help a lot of people and that’s what we’re gonna do. Who are we?"

...clinaxing with a team shot (with really good 3D stickout), leading straight into the film's title... followed by a "music video" for Immortals, which also hints at some subsequent events like Hiro getting himself a college grant, Al's rebuilt building being devoted to Tadashi, and that nice Gerson guy getting a new tape dispenser :-D

But that's not all folks... Whereas Frozen gave us a quick post-credits gag, BH6 offers us a full-on scene with Fred talking to his family portrait... “Dad, I just wish I could share my accomplishments with you. You mean so much to me and, honestly I’ve always felt a distance, with you being on the family island all the time and I just wish you could see how-” He's interrupted mid-thought by the portrait opening like a door to reveal some sort of superhero hideout, replete with a bunch of superhero tights, and guess who it belongs to?

His dad comes in from the shadows, holds up a pair of those tights, and says probably the weirdest thing a nonagenarian has ever had to record... "I wear them front, I wear them back, I go inside out, then I go front and back" :-D Father and son embrace, and dad teases that they have so much to talk about...

The scene fades to black, and a credit confirming your suspicions scrolls by: "Stan Lee as Fred's dad" :-)

So, kid gets into superhero-ing, and discovers that one of his immediate family has also dabbled in superhero-ing as well... hmm, where have I heard that before?...

As mentioned in the intro, the Oscar win was not without some controversy, as the field of nominees was missing one of the expected frontrunners The Lego Movie... And even heading into Oscar night, people were expecting TJ Miller's OTHER animated feature, the HTTYD sequel, to take the win (like it did at the Globes), and probably still scratch their heads at the result...

When they're not scratching their heads at its somewhat lower than expected gross, that is :-/

And it looks like Tudyk's Disney career isn't done just yet, as he's been announced as having a role in WDAS' upcoming Zootopia... His role?
