Film sure has been getting expensive lately (at least, the conventional C-41 color films)... When I purchased this roll of Kodak Ultramax 400 in late March, it cost THB 325, around USD9.75 based on the exchange rate at the time, but by the time I actually loaded it to start shooting in early July, it was going for THB 385-420 (USD10.00-11.70) depending on the store :-\ I also got myself a roll of Fuji Superia for THB 450 (USD 12.60) that early July day, and at latest check as I'm writing this post, Fuji C200 (apples and oranges, but still) has been going for THB490, or USD14 (!) This seems to be because they have to buy their film from a middleman instead of directly from the companies, and even the labs themselves are bemoaning that this has resulted in extra high prices and scarcity, to the point that it's more economical to use ECN-2 film or B/W, or even half-frame cameras, for which I have news on that front coming soon :-) For now though, let's check out what I shot mid-year with my Kodak M35 and my 2nd roll of Max...

Partially affected by lightstruck leader, the Central Plaza shopping mall at Latphrao, the first mall to bear that name before expanding to the rest of Bangkok in the aughts, and eventually the rest of the country... and off frame to the right are a gaggle of film dev labs, including my regulars :-)

Don't know what's going on with the lower right corner here (the next roll after this one has a few shots with this issue too) but here, my dad is crossing the tracks and heading towards the new Bang Sue Grand Station, and it's not to catch a train :-)

But before we see what, a rather overexposed-looking pic of what remains of the existing Bang Sue Junction train station (there used to be more station behind where this picture was taken, which was torn down when it was decided to build the new one)

Daddy getting his Covid shot at the train station :-) (And once again, with this camera, you might as well be in the dark if you're indoors, so always turn on the flash :-))

Attempt number 3 to take a color photo of my front yard plants, this time blighted by the same issues from the train station pic

(I actually uncovered a set of digital photos from a different river cruise from September 2006, might share them as a "Blast from the Past" someday)
