In a nutshell, we meet two new characters who totally don't make sucky first impressions, unlike the nephew of a certain teacher I could name... Oh yeah, there are also a bunch of pixies that need to be rescued, and a "gimme" moment: the first encounter between the fairies and the Trix since last season.

Recap: Some neatfreak spurns a guy who's been pining for her for the longest time for some guy just came in like a few hours ago, and is already tied to another princess to boot. Speaking of the other princess, she saves the others' collective bacon from other shadow freaks by activating Layla's light seeds. The mission goes on and on. Get somewhere already!

We're "outside", where Stella powered up I believe, and the girls are all in their hiking outfits again. Sky asks if Sunshine can use her scepter to teleport them inside. "No way, not unless you want to end up in that creep's bathroom." Actually, most of us wouldn't mind :D But what that means is that she needs to know the destination very well, or the teleportation could end up anywhere. Didn't stop Stella the fairy from teleporting last time, no? Sky asks Layla if she knows where the citadel is, and she thinks is down below the ledge she's standing at. Sky reckons that they need to get down there, because it's a bit too risky to use the Demolecularizer up here.

Birds!

Upside Down Castle land. The pixies are back in their cells. The old-fashioned looking pixie with the Beethoven lavender hair and the hoop skirt finds the birds unpleasant. Pigtails yells at them. Digit asks pigtails, "You've been shouting at them all day, and what has it done other than... overload my audio inputs?" "At least I'm doing something to drive away those revolting things, so instead of sitting there in your sitting mode..." "Standby mode." "Whatever!" HEE! "I swear, if I hear another shout I'll reboot!" Hee. Hoop skirt freaks out at the birds: "For goodness sake, stop... AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The birds fly away, and pigtails says "See? Shouting was the solution." Lockette and flower pixie stroll over to the other side of the cell. Lockette fears that they'll end up like the others, while she looks at the neighboring cell. No pixies, just stuff.

Evil Guy: "How touching... of course it's your own fault." Huzzah! Anyways, Evil Guy decides to go get an expert opinion.

Evil Guy is now a snake. Seriously. Pigtails thinks that the energy cage will protect them. He just slithers straight into the energy cage. Pigtails then tells everyone to just stand still. Evil snake: "Your sssssilencccce deeply annoysss me." Lockette just plain cracks at the sight of the snake's tongue (EWW!), but pigtails tells her to keep quiet, since she knows that Evil Guy needs them to find their village. The snake threatens pigtails, and leaves.

The way Digit talks, you wonder if she's a pixie-machine hybrid. After all, many people do speak of Tecna as being half-android.

Back at the ledge. There's just nowhere else to go. "Looks pretty bright down there. Anybody got sunscreen?" Sky recommends that she play it safe, and don't get out of the sunlight again. However, Sunshine doesn't want to leave Brandon in the clutches of "that fish faced tramp", which is why she's starting to climb down first. Meanwhile, Layla has just found a piece of wood, and a faster way to get down there. Okay, where'd it come from? For that matter, apparently a few more just pop out nowhere too.

So anyways, Layla and Sky start boarding down some conveniently placed hillside. And Layla? Is very good at boarding. "Boards have always been my passion!" Maybe she should swing by Earth sometime. We have a culture built around boards!

Anyways, those two have a clean run straight to the bottom of the hill. "I hope you brought enough passion for everyone..." Cut to Stella and Bloom, riding their boards the wrong way! Bloom, you spent your first 16 years as an Earth girl, and I think you'd know better than to try to board with the _side_ of the board...

Okay, Bloom manages to stop right next to Sky and Layla. "What was it you were saying about passion?" Bloom's board slides down another sand-slide and she flies off. Meanwhile, Stella runs straight into a huge rock. As the rock cracks, Stella says, "This is ridiculous, Brandon better buy me a new dress to thank me for this." No kidding, Stella, you could have broken your neck. She's lucky that the rock is very brittle here, and as such makes it very perfect to use the Demoleculizer thing. Yes, he was carrying it around all this time. Bloom wants to go in pairs... watch Bloom's reaction when Sky says they have to go altogether. The magic only lasts 25 seconds, and there's a lotta rock to get through. Layla is ready, and Stella wonders if it's safe. Bloom drags Stella into a circle and Sunshine tells her, "If anything happens to me you can have all my outfits!" We can always count on Sunshine to bring the funny.

Er... some place. Caves look the same everywhere, don't they? Sky is the first to come out. Bloom is next. Layla comes out with a leap straight out of a gymnastics textbook. First rock climbing, then boarding, now gymnastics. How did Layla get so good in athletics, I wonder? Anyways, Stella is nowhere to be seen because she's weak, and Bloom's despaired. Then Stella suddenly flies backwards out of the wall, and it was horrible for her, because a worm passed straight through her. Bloom takes it off her hair. "Brandon better buy you some new shampoo, too." Anyways, Layla declares that they're at the Shadow Castle. Oh, so that's what you call it? Somehow, Evil Guy's pad has a better ring to it.

Stella declares, "Plenty of sunshine!" Meanwhile, Layla points to where the pixies are, and it looks like they're going to have to take the rope bridge. Sunshine suggests that Sky can just play it safe and wait down there, while the others fly up there. Bloom protests Stella's idea, suggesting that if they transform now they might not have any power when they need it (read: to fight), so they're heading on foot, the lot of them. Layla warns them the bridge will swing like a "boat in a hurricane", but Bloom's like "No problem, I used to spend my summers at a water park!" Yeah, but water parks don't compare to rope bridges swinging like crazy. Stella is of course worrying about Brandon. Of course she does. She wants to get this over with before Brandon says "I do".

Speaking of pauper boy... At Downland's palace, a bunch of guys are grooming Brandon, and he demands to see the princess to tell her what a big mistake this planned marriage is. He gets so mad he throws a bunch of rugs on the floor. Uh... yeah. The guys get busy scooping up the cloth. Fishface comes in, and they stand in front of the cloth. Amentia threatens one of the guys. "How revolting. You've got 5 seconds to fix your hair or I'll shred you with my nails, dip you in sewage, fry you in acid, and finally, I'll CANCEL YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE!!!" HEH! Brandon demands a word in private with her NOW, but Amentia insists that they'll have time later. A whole lifetime. So much for that, eh?

We haven't been here in a while, so we might as well just check back with Alfea now. Tecna has just showered. Kiko is trying to get her attention. Tecna finds out her laptop has crashed. Meanwhile, Musa looks for Piff, and finds her on some armchair, sleeping. "Maybe she's got the right idea. She's not wasting her energy worrying." Heh. But Musa still thinks about the risks of others on the mission anyway.

Outside Alfea, a blonde pixie with a red hairclip is airsurfing on a folded piece of paper.

Tecna decides to check for better reception outside. She's telling Musa about the situation with her "palmtop" (okay, so I'll call it that) and that she might not be able to contact the mission again, when blonde pixie runs straight into the palmtop. "Hey, some new hardware just installed itself." Ouch. New pixie is pretty shaken, and Tecna's astonished that there's another pixie, and shows it to Musa. Musa tells Tecna to let her go. Tecna asks if she's fine, and although she says she's never been better, the fact she suddenly falls straight down, and then bonks herself on the underside of the table when she tries flying back up should answer that well.

So, explanation time. New pixie missed the forest festival because she was home recovering from hurting her head. Tecna: "Imagine that." I'll let her explain herself what happened next:

"But my friends never came back from the dark forest. Those of us who'd stayed behind knew something was wrong, but they were too scared to leave the village. Finally, our friend Layla came along and she said she was going to help us, and she told us to stay hidden. But we waited and waited and she never came back, so we decided to come to Alfea for help. That's why I'm here, I'm the pixie of messages!" She begins to cry.

Evil Guy's pad. He looks on. "How touching and informative!"

Tecna tells her there's no point in crying, and Messenger says that she'll never cry again. Piff comes out from under a pillow, and Messenger is ecstatic, and of course she cries as she hugs Piff. Yawn. Musa asks Tecna if they should tell Messenger that Layla's still alive too, and whether she'd have a heart attack. Tecna decides to wait a couple minutes, as Piff babbles randomly at Messenger.

The mission people are crossing the bridge. Layla tells the others to go help Stella, and Sunshine is a bit belligrent for help, but she does think, "Just a sliver of sun, is that too much to ask?" Layla makes like Tarzan and swings, all the way to the cliff where we first saw her. She climbs in to the room, and the still-captive pixies are so glad to see Layla, and Layla even brags about her reinforcements. Lockette tells Layla that the seal on the wall is powering the cell, so Layla's getting it on. "Layla magic... Transform!" Eh. And also, eh to the pathetic samba-like music they're using here.

First she throws a ball at the seal. Then she tries a huge stream of her magic on the seal. Now she goes full power... on the cage. What the fudge is she doing that for? The cage still hasn't budged one bit, so Layla tells Lockette to look for the weakest spot in the wall.

Back at the bridge, Stella is still having trouble crossing it. Meanwhile, the other two are having some problems of their own. The sky darkens, and they both get hit by lightning. In a cave. That can only mean one thing... The Trix are back, and out for revenge. The first thing any of the missioners notice are those huge honkin' glowin' bling.

Stella is now across the bridge, as Stormy lights up the cave to reveal themselves. Dragonfairy's like "Hey, it's impossible to escape from Light Rock" but Icy tells them "We were given special gifts that make everything possible." She then cackles, prompting Sunshine to comment: "Will she ever stop laughing?" "Who asked for your opinion?" "Can't you see we're gloating here?" "And getting ready to settle old scores?" Icy says "We'll finish you off for good!" as she summons up a few icicles of a different color (black, if you must know)... and we cut to Lockette looking for a weak spot in the cage.

And to no avail to boot, as the cage can also block any magic. "No magic? Then let's get physical!" What, did Layla just turn into Olivia Newton John??? Anyways, she elbows the cage over and over, and eventually gets electrocuted by it. She falls over in pain, and we see how bad of a number the cage just did to her elbow. Ouch. And... scene.

Back with the Trix and the icicles and the fairies and the bridge, you know what I'm talkin' about, Sky helpfully tells us that the Trix are ready to attack. Icy unleashes those black icicles in an Icicle Fury, forcing Bloom and Sky to rush behind a huge post.

Sunshine is out in the open, and all that Icicle Fury somehow doesn't hit her, but Stella goes "You should not have done that!" Dragonfairy notices Darcy right behind Stella and shoves her out of the way of her blast. Obviously, they need to transform. And I still hate the down-keyed transformation music!

Dragonfairy shoots a fireblast, and Darcy seems to disappear as her blast hits nothing but rock. While the fairies are wondering where the heck she went, Stormy comes out with a Shadow Whirlwind, which Stella tries blocking with her scepter. Dude, must she rely on her scepter for everything now?

Sunshine's knocked down and scepter-less, as Icy lobs a huge black icicle at the two remaining. Sky has to take Bloom's hand and drag her into a run. And here comes Darcy again, this time zapping Bloom into a freeze. Looks like Icy isn't the only one who can freeze Dragonfairy.

Sky decides to use his sword against Darcy. Darcy goes back and shoots as Sky jumps off his sword. Umm? Darcy's zap does a number to the sword, as Sky lands on top of a boulder... which is getting covered by ice. "Are you getting cold feet yet?" What, more puns?

Sky takes out his boomerang. This weapon is so totally inspired by Batman. Sky takes out the rope bridge. Icy is so cool, she even sees that coming, and shatters it away anyway. Hmm... the shot where she does this clearly shows another rope bridge in the background. But there are probably tons of rope bridges here so what do I know?

As Sky's face gets scratched, Icy says "You're so cute. Too bad 'cause your game's up!" "Hey, someone say game? I'm a big fan of all games myself!" Here comes the cavalry! By which I mean Layla, who throws a pink ball at Icy. I guess Layla was a dodgeball master in her childhood. Wonder how she'd fare against Numbuh 4? Or his brother?

Nonetheless, Icy easily catches Layla's throw, and Darcy zaps her out of her fairy outfit. The Trix then assess the others' situation. Prince: iced. Dragonfairy: frozen. Sunshine: cold. Okay, Icy didn't take out all three of them, but still...

Okay, here's more cavalry. A guy with verrrry bright wings. Stormy puts it best: "What's going on???" Guy comes down to Layla and revives her. Guy heads over to Sky and defrosts him. Guy rushes down to Bloom and unfreezes her, although she also morphs back into her hiking outfit. Guy then rushes over to revive Stella, who's also in her hiking outfit. As he flies off, she comments: "Would you look at that? A superhunk!"

Superhunk flies over to the Trix, creates a huge ball that envelops them, and sends them away.

The foursome is appreciative of superhunk, and Bloom is the first to thank him. Sky asks, "Are you one of the Master Templars from Light Rock?" He isn't, and when Bloom asks for his name, he says, "You'll find out soon enough." Superhunk flies off. And there's another shot of a rope bridge. Yeesh. Sky says, "I just don't understand girls at all." Well, girls are always crazy for boys on this show, unless her name is Flora or Layla. Capiche?

Sky spots a bunch of monsters, and everyone rushes behind a wall... bar Layla. Layla knows who these are: they're the pixies, and they fly over to her so enthusiastically, they knock her down outright.

Layla introduces the pixies to hew new friends. Flower pixie flies over to Stella, commenting "What a wonderful person!" Sunshine: "My, she's adorable."

"Stella's returning a compliment? What's going on here?" Hey, prince boy, it's a pixie, and pixies are adorable. Deal with it.

Thankfully, Layla is here to re-explain for us that this is the bonding between a fairy and pixie. She adds that "Their bond will be unbreakable." Ooookay. So bonding makes you behave briefly out of character. Riiight.

We finally get the pixie's name... "I'm Amore, pixie of love." Pixie of love??? Yeesh. "And I'm Stella, the most loved fairy." Meanwhile, Lockette flies over to bond with Dragonfairy, and we learn she is the pixie of portals. That would explain all the stuff about locks and exits and things she's done earlier, but honestly, what kind of power is that, anyway? As Lockette bonds with Bloom and asks her "Will you protect me from now on?" we head over to...

Evil Guy's pad. "Those pixies are so sweet, I'm starting to like them. Muhahahahahaha!"

Back with everyone. Bloom has just explained their own rescue to the pixies. Layla asks the pixies, "Speaking of rescue, how did you manage to get out of the cage?" Digit answers, "It was easy, all of a sudden the barrier was deleted." (Channeling Strong Bad) DELETED!!! "So you weren't rescued by our paladin?"

Sunshine interrupts the discussion. "I'm sorry, but I'd like to remind you that while we're sitting here chatting, Brandon is probably walking down the aisle. LET'S HOP TO IT!" Sky seconds Sunshine (say that three times fast! ;) ), and... scene.

So next, it's time to head back to Downland, to stop a wedding. Dare we hope for a "The Graduate" redux?
