Tomorrow, I'm heading out on a trip with my family to the Royal Flora Expo in Chiang Mai (I'm so excited!), so this will be the last entry I make in this blog until next Monday. (The only thing I think of when it comes to Royal Flora is the Winx girl... what does that say about me?)

1. So, I've been following Survivor: Cook Islands for the last few months, and last week they cut down to 5. And then out of nowhere, I see Jeff Probst talking about an auction on the reunion show over breakfast past Tuesday. Turns out the show had its finale on Monday and they did a final three (BTW, Yul won). SHEESH! Tip to CBS for next season: Air the finale on same day of the week as the other episodes. (I had to YouTube to watch the much-talked disaster that was the fire-making challenge tiebreaker. And then went ahead to watch a MadTV parody of Cook Islands! :-D)

2. Last week, I noted the "anniversaries" of two different bans and sighed: My Toon Zone ban was 6 months ago last week, and my 2nd [livejournal.com profile] winx_club ban was 3 months ago last week. (sigh) I will only say this: I have never plagiarized a single homework assignment (I'm studying for my Master's now). I'm not that shameless.

3. I see [livejournal.com profile] melashaan's No More Christmas Singles, and I raise it with, No More Badly Mangled Christmas Carols Playing Over the Subway Station PA System. Like the Splitting Image puppets, we've had enough. (And isn't Last Christmas still a bit new to be a Christmas standard, anyway?) I know Roger Crutchley (of the Bangkok Post) has a strong hate of the Christmas music played at department stores, which is pretty much the same ilk.

4. [livejournal.com profile] mg_winxclub constantly bugs me (EDIT: Well, not anymore, see replies). Everything I do, no matter how benign, seems to get a negative reaction from him. Even when my podcast was reduced to just me reading reviews of Winx eps (I really wanted to read reviews from [livejournal.com profile] winx_club rather than Toon Zone though), he called it "boring" (I haven't heard from him lately though). Is the Winx fandom that hard to please?

5. I'm making a new comparisons video, and I've sent out the "script" (actually, what I plan to put on captions between the clips) to Lori for checking. I'm still waiting to see if she approves. (The video might not be out until after the new year.)

6. According to the Merriam Webster website, Stephen Colbert's neologism "truthiness" is the 2006 word of the year. Colbert himself defined it as: "truth that comes from the gut, not books". The American Dialect Society gave it a better definition: "the quality of preferring concepts or facts one wishes to be true, rather than concepts or facts known to be true". Hmm... sounds a bit like this clip from 2x09. Avalon: "You all know that Muriel was the first ever fairy, right? And that she's famous for that, right? Well guess what, she isn't."

7. I'm a Master's degree student in the field of Computer Graphics. I've just been picked to participate in the WSCG Conference on Computer Graphics next month. Oh yeah, go me! (Then again, time for the arduous task of filling forms to get the money to go to the Czech Republic.)

8. Last but not least, I see Lori's 700s in GRE, and raise it with a 113/120 in the CU-TEP exam, and it equals a 678 on TOEFL (yes, the testing people do the calculations of this figure themselves). Included in the 113/120: a perfect 30/30 score in writing (or rather, grammar nitpicking: pick the word that is gramatically incorrect).

Selected pix from Royal Flora when I return on Monday.

Dude, what's with the low blow? I haven't emailed you in over 4 months. I haven't posted anything in your live journal since September 29th either until today. I also haven't posted anything in the Yahoo Group you post your edits in either, so what gives?

There hasn't been any of this me "constantly bugging you" like you claim, so was this really necessary? If you're holding a grudge, that's not my fault.

Why dwell on the past and complain about being banned and stuff, it's not going to change anything. Just look forward with positive thinking and do nice things to help Winx Club. We are both fans afterall, no matter what version we're watching.

Okay... (edits to acknowledge this)

We are both fans afterall, no matter what version we're watching.

Wow, never thought I'd hear that from you. Your coolness just went up a notch in my book. (Sends a little surprise to his mailbox)
