The Amazing Race All-Stars: Episodes 12 and 13
Yeah, I'm still alive. Just been busy working on making a website for my faculty, and registering for my doctorate class. Yeah, I'm going to be studying for a Ph.D. now.
Okay, so you all think I forgot about this. Well, actually I just didn't have the mood to post my thoughts.
The reason is simple: I missed most of the finale. Yes, out of all the episodes, I ended up missing like 3/4 of the finale, the episode for all the marbles, and only got to see the part with the taxi ride to the finish (plus a few other bits, but we'll get there later). Anyhoo:
Episode 12:
1. So we're all bunched up in Guam to do some military themed stuff. Charla and Mirna get to pack things into boxes and drop them off a plane.
2. Meanwhile, the other teams are washing a plane. Okay, whatever...
3. Roadblock involves finding your way to some hidden soldier (VERY hidden, in Oswald's case) with GPS, and then using the same GPS to make your way to a field and get lifted by helicopter.
4. Dustin and Kandice finish first this leg, while Danny and Oswald have been eliminated. It should be noted that except for E/D, all the remaining teams (including O/D) finished 4th or worse in their first race.
Episode 13:
1. Or rather, why I MISSED most of epsiode 13. On the night of the finale, my daddy was watching "The Terminal". It's a nice movie, but d@mmit, I was going to watch MY show and he wasn't going to let me, and he made me quickly turn it back after I had just changed to see Eric being bitter about finishing 2nd to the hippies. And then again after I had just changed to watch Dustin and Kandice dive into a cave in Hawaii.
2. And then, I had to attend a funeral on the Sunday night it was rerun. There had been a rerun during the lunch hour as well, and since I was out to lunch then (of course), I only got to see the taxi ride.
3. So basically, Eric and Danielle finished the last challenge first, while the other two teams use up their whole 10 minute time limit (E/D didn't). So E/D win the $1m (BLEH), and Eric gets to talk with Jeremy. D/K are 2nd, C/M 3rd. Whatever. When's next season?
4. Quote of the week: "We didn't win... Damn." Nailed it right there on the head, D/K.
Many fans find an E/D win sucky, because they were the only AS team that wasn't an actual team in a previous race, instead a cobbling of two teams from TAR9. I even found this thread living in utter denial of E/D's win. (Yes, some people would rather D/K had won. I've even found a video edit showing C/M "winning"... it's in the thread.)
