More Vietnam pics

Man, has it been a MONTH already since last time? Here we go with more Vietnam pics...

Okay, so after we left Hue, we passed through the Hai Van tunnel. It's very long. 6km long. The whole "hold your breath and make a wish" adage doesn't apply here (our guide did mention it though). After getting out of the tunnel, we spent the night in Hoi An after passing through Danang.

The next morning, we stopped by a market in Danang to buy luggage. Don't ask. I got my shoes shined there too. Check out this nice view of the skyline right outside the market.

We then headed straight back through Hai Van Tunnel. This picture is just before we entered the tunnel on the way back. The weather was fair when we entered, but it was POURING on the other side.

After lunch, we visited the Kai Dinh tomb. Kai Dinh was the last emperor of Vietnam to die on home soil.

This pic was taken from the bus just before we left, so it's a big foggy (remember, it was raining at the time).

Later, we stopped at another market, Dong Ba Market in Hue. Here's a pic from Dong Ba, a shop carrying those unique Vietnamese hats.

Next day, we left Vietnam. Here's the duty free on the Lao side of the Viet-Lao border, replete with nifty tri-lingual sign.

Lunch in Phine and then back across the Thai-Lao bridge. Welcome back!

And check out this nifty quadrilingual sign at the intersection after the bridge: Thai, English, Lao, and Vietnamese.

The last evening of the vacation was spent at the Indochina market in Mukdahan, with an early dinner.

And one last shot of the bridge before taking the overnight bus back to Bangkok.
