The WinxTalk Podcast is one year old, but there's nothing to celebrate, as we return from the hiatus with two VERY mediocre episodes, and for one of them, even THAT'S stretching it a bit. And we have quite a backlog of news to get brushed up on. So, let's begin, shall we?

First, we return from the three-month hiatus with "Day at the Museum". The titular plot of the episode doesn't really kick in until the latter half of the episode, but there are other things that are mildly interesting before then, like Red Fountain coming over to save Cloud Tower, and an exam for the now complete Enchantix squad.

(Griselda and co. explain the whole deal behind today's training exercise, with Negatus creatures with anti-magic powers, such that only the most powerful Enchantix attacks can affect them)

Or _should_ that be complete? Bloom drops out of fairy form back to casuals during her run, which is definitely NOT a good thing when you're still flying. After that mishap, we get ourselves an explanation.

(Faragonda notes that Bloom's powers were out of control, and says that Bloom's Enchantix is "dangerously incomplete" because the other girls earned their Enchantixes through sacrifice)

Oh, and remember when Layla whined a lot about being engaged to a guy named Nabu? Well, obviously, Layla doesn't want to be saddled with a guy, and thus she automatically has a reason to hate the new guy that's trying to latch on to her while she and the Winx are on a shopping trip.

(Layla says Musa is making a good call on breaking up with Riven, citing her arranged marriage issues. Stella disagrees with this, and decides to ask a guy about the whole issue. Layla isn't too keen on him eavesdropping on their conversations)

(Later at the museum, Layla ends up running into that guy Stella asked. He introduces himself as Ophir, and the girls find that he's a wizard, and suspect that he might be working for Baltor)

Anyways, Layla eventually gets another reason to hate Ophir: he's the whole reason that Baltor's plan to steal a magic box from a museum is successful, since he got caught in the crossfire and Baltor took the opportunity to make the Enchantix squad just give him the box. Shades of "Date with Disaster" much?

Due to technical difficulties at her end, Lori doesn't have a proper review for the episode, but notes that at her community, Flora was liked, Stella was not, and Ophir was meh. More after the news.

(News sting)

And now, news from the Winx world.

At WinxClub.tv, the Winx blogs stopped on Friday July the 13th, with messages saying that the Trix have cut off their connection with the Realm Wide Web. Also, the message boards were pruned: Gone are separate general interest boards, gone are boards on the specialists and the witches, and gone are the episode discussion boards. Also, 4Kids has announced in promos that we're heading towards the SERIES finale.

In the ratings department, while the hiatus initially saw Winx regularly get around 0.8 and 5 share, as the hiatus wore on, the ratings gradually lowered, reaching a low of 0.3 and 2 share on June the 22nd. When "Day at the Museum" finally aired on July the 28th, Winx got a 0.4 and 3 share, good enough for 2nd place at 8am, ahead of NBC's Qubo and behind Kids' WB.

In the Great White North, YTV has managed to get ahead of America during the hiatus. The 4Kids finale will probably have aired by the time you listen to this podcast.

As for the Winx Club movie, Secret of the Lost Kingdom, a new trailer was released in English, Italian, and Dutch. You can see it at www.winxclubthemovie.com. Film comes to cinemas this December; whether this includes America is unclear, as the English trailer features the Rainbow dub voices.

Michael Grant has reported that in Italy, a new Winx magazine has been released. It's called "Pixie", and is of course, devoted to the Winx girls' cute companions. Check it out at www.pixiefun.com.

Michael has also reported that, in an interesting case of what goes around comes around, Winx was dubbed into Korean, with a Korean version of the winxclub.com site going online in June.

Lastly, a short moment of silence for the Winx group at Yahoo, which mysteriously disappeared on August the 6th. A former member has formed a new group, Forever_Winx at groups.yahoo.com/group/forever_winx.

(5 seconds of silence)

And that's news, from the Winx world.

(News sting)

Okay, on to "Biker Chick Wedding Crashers". For those of you who just came in, Stella's father announced his plans to re-marry way back in the 2nd episode.

(From 3x02: Stella's dad makes the announcement of his marriage to Cassandra. Stella congratulates him, and says she's happy, but her father and would-be stepmother don't think so)

Of course, they were right. Stella was not happy at all, and the only thing that stopped her from pitching a tantrum there and then was that it wouldn't have been fit for a princess like her.

And that's even without considering the fact that Baltor made them evil. Well, even more evil than they already were.

Anyways, so TOTALLY EVIL Cassandra and Chimera are making final preparations for the big wedding and stuff, and there's also this random cute scene with Baltor and the witches. Oh, and his box, too.

(Icy eats ice-cream, Darcy paints nails, Stormy fans too hard, and Baltor decides that they'll strike Alfea next)

Back to Alfea. We're spared a completely meaningless dance scene, so we can get to the business of Stella wanting to get help to stop her dad's big wedding.

(The girls are watching an announcement of the Radius and Cassandra wedding on the "television". Stella is sure that Cassandra has spelled him again and decides to get the Winx's help to stop the wedding)

(Stella talks with Nova on what's being planned for the wedding. Eventually, they decide to pose as the flying biker troupe, and have their boyfriends teach them)

So, biking it is. Layla of course is really good at it, and we know this becase we've seen this before from her. Which makes you wonder why the boys are even there to give them the lessons. Apparently, the answer is so that Musa can angst over Riven.

(Musa angsts over Riven, and Layla doesn't really understand why)

Back at Red Fountain, the guys talk about girls.

(The boys talk about how to deal with girls. "You just gotta think about what you'd do in a situation" "And then do the opposite! :-)")

Whatever. Anyways, after getting dressed up in new outfits; which is more than can be said for Chimera even though IT'S HER MOTHER'S WEDDING FOR CRYING OUT LOUD; the girls get rid of the real bikers and crash the wedding. But first, more of Layla kicking butt on hoverbikes!

(Layla goes through warm-ups, and shows how much she kicks butt at bikes)

Okay, wedding crashing time! Stella approaches Chimera for her little expose'.

(Stella and gang go right into the wedding, and she exposes Cassandra giving Radius Baltor's mark. "Stella's our princess. Why would she lie to us?" "'Cause she's a spoiled and jealous brat, that's why!" "Well at least I'm a REAL princess, CHIMERA!")

OOH!

Anyways, this leads to a whole bunch of fighting, and in the fight between Stella and Chimera, our bratty wannabe princess and her mom are hopelessly outclassed. Ouch. Couldn't you have at least provided _some_ resistance?

(Stella takes all of TWO blasts to defeat Chimera, and Cassandra provides no resistance at all against Stella, who ends up spending more time healing her father than fighting the villains. Radius sends them to the dungeon)

Let's hear what everyone has to say about the whole thing...

(Radius frees his doves, while Stella tells Bloom that Baltor is beatable with their fairy dust... and Tecna finds that the flying bikers aren't too happy ;-) )

Lori has a review this time.

BZZ

Well, the Cassandra problem is finally solved, but in the crappiest manner possible. Chimera was diminished into just as one-dimensional a character as her mother, thus never living up to her true potential. Don't the writers know there isn't just good and evil? There's a whole gray area in between and we need to see some characters that aren't strictly one or the other. Chimera and Diaspro were both robbed.

BZZ

I'll agree on that, but I'll raise you with the fact that at least Chimera's comeuppance was delivered on-screen.

BZZ

The best scene is easily the Trix and Baltor. Cute, harmless fun. Second best is Nova's scene. I adore Nova.

The stuff with the boys annoyed me. It's just another way the writers force them into an episode to perform some task that the girls could easily do. Layla should have known how to ride like that well enough to teach the girls. Instead, the boys have to pretend like they're not the weaker sex.

Musa and Riven need to shut up. She can't change him. She knows that, but she can't let go of him either and all it's doing is make her treat him like crap. I like to see relationship problems, but this is just... obnoxious.

The scene with the boys was funny, but I wanted to smack Sky. Like HE knows how to treat women.

Overall, this episode disappointed me and pissed me off more than it entertained me. Hopefully, next week is better.

BZZ

And next week will be better, for next week's show is nothing but pixies.

For now though, that's it for this week. Comments and suggestions may be left at my blog at spiderbraids.livejournal.com, or at the new Forever_Winx group at Yahoo: groups.yahoo.com/group/forever_winx. See you in two weeks. Thanks for listening.
