Hello, and welcome to WinxTalk Podcast No. 3, with your host SpiderBraids. On today's edition: The problems with Flora and Helia and how to fix them, as well as a fanfic challenge for everyone. And as usual, news from the Winx world. All this and more on today's podcast.

In the very first podcast, I mentioned that one of the reasons that we stopped hating the pairing of Timmy and Tecna was Flora and Helia. And today, we're going to address this. Cue the clip, please?

[Audio clip: Segment from 2x23 when Flora FINALLY gets the nerve to tell Helia, but unlike the original where she downright says "I love you" she only says "I really like you"... the heck?]

"Really like you?" Somehow, I was expecting more than that, but anyways... It seems ironic that while it took 16 episodes (that's SIXTEEN people!) for Flora to finally tell Helia, people still think that this relationship was a bit, shall we say, rushed. So I've decided to address the relationship to fans at the community, and ask what they'd do to fix it. Here's some selected feedback:

sweetkaiser: "I think the only problem I have with it (the pairing) is that it was so thrown-together. Like we knew it was coming, it was totally obvious and thrown in our faces. They tried to make it seem like a gradual thing but by the time the two of them got together it was like, "...okay? and?""

melashaan: "Every other couple in the series talks to each other, but all Flora & Helia do is moon over each other until they finally kiss. There's no bond there.

Also, let's face it, Helia's introduction was not a winner. He saves Flora from being eaten by the monster... and then releases it once she's out of danger so it can continue to attack the others. Classy."

sweetcint: "The relation was thrown together without any gradual buildup. When they finally smooched or whatever, I was like, so what? I wasn't reeled in. So therefore, I didn't really care."

Of course, the best feedback always belongs to Lori:

"My biggest problem with it is that it's not only completely unrealistic, but extremely unhealthy. I think I addressed this issue best in my fanfic where W gives his assessment of the crazyass relationships on the show." Lori then proceeds to excerpt the aforementioned fic. In a nutshell, W thinks that the two rushed into their relationship, and thinks they should take it a bit slow. Nice fic there, Lori.

And of course, there are certain people think that the solution is simply concentrating on THIS relationship instead!

[Audio clip: From 2x25, Flora casts a spell on Mirta the pumpkin, and strikes gold. Mirta couldn't be happier to have arms and legs again!]

Lori says, "Flora and Mirta showed WAY more chemistry. Way way more," while sweetcint says, "Flora and Mirta had a better foundation, and much more interesting dynamic."

Although it's not much, that should say a lot. In a nutshell, it's a bit sad when you consider that a rather unconventional relationship is getting more support than the conventional one we're actually getting. But I guess lesbianism doesn't work on Saturday mornings, does it?

[News sting]

And now, news from the Winx world, with the first substantial information about season 3.

Looks like the Charmix wasn't enough for the Winx. According to Michael's Favorites, they'll be getting another power-up in season 3. It's called Enchantix, and it calls for, get this, new fairy outfits, and new wings. There are a few pictures at Michael's site if you want to see it for yourself. The address is www.michaelsfavorites2.com/winxclub3 .

After they take a breather this weekend, the Winx wrap up their all-summer Feeling Groovy tour during the two weeks after. On Saturday, September 9th, the Winx resume their Boston trip with the Solomon Pond in Marlborough, with an Indianapolis stop at the Castleton Square Mall, a Philly stop at the Granite Run Mall in Media, and then Albuquerque's Cottonwood Mall, followed by stops in Norfolk at Chesapeake Square in Chesapeake and Miami at Coral Square in Coral Springs.

On Sunday, September 10th, the Winx have another Boston stop with the Auburn Shopping Center in Auburn, another Philadelphia stop at the Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne, a Cleveland stop at the Richmond Town Square in Richmond Heights, and another Miami stop at the Dadeland Mall.

Lastly on Saturday, September 16th, the tour concludes with a Hartford stop at the Crystal Mall in Waterford, a Providence stop at the Emerald Square Mall in North Attleboro, another Philly stop at the Montgomery Mall in North Wales, another Cleveland stop at the Great Laes Mall in Mentor, what the tour calls a Charlotte stop at the Haywood Mall in Greenville, South Carolina which is like 100 miles away, and a Miami stop at the Miami International.

All events are from noon to 3pm local time, and at the booth there will be a TV showing a promo loop, which will include a promo for season 3.

Last but not least, Winx Club loses its 9:30 timeslot starting the week of September 9th. It'll only now be on at 8:00am, starting with "Exchange Students". Bar any other schedule changes, this puts the premiere of the new season in mid-November, and of course, WinxTalk will be following the new season as it unfolds.

And that's news from the Winx World.

[News end]

And now, the fanfic challenge.

[Audio clip: From 2x06, FG chides the Winx for going to CT. She then says, "I hope you have a good explanation." The Griz, however, cuts Bloom off three words in, and gets FG to take their powers.]

So, not only do they get stripped of their powers, they also get stripped of their concert passes. All based on a decision some of us find dodgy, and in Faragonda's case, out-of-character.

Thus the challenge. To set things up, Faragonda and Griz are at the concert, sitting next to each other of course. Griz thinks that her decision was good, while Faragonda is having second thoughts, as she should be. Compose a conversation between the two, and post it to the appropriate thread. I'll read the best ones I get "on the air".

Well, that's it for another Podcast. Next one's in two weeks, and as always, you can drop feedback off at my blog at spiderbraids dot livejournal dot com, or if you're a member of the Winx Club community at community dot livejournal dot com slash winx underscore club, you can drop your feedback off there. Thanks for listening.

Behind the scenes

Although I had previous recorded a bit about these dates for the last podcast (before I found out that the Winx took a breather this week), I decided to re-record the dates. Besides bleeping out one word, that's pretty much it for behind the scenes.

ETA: Just when I thought that I finally had a clean run at a podcast... I'm forced to edit things. One poster was displeased that I used his HER (sorry Chris, I thought you were a guy judging from your screen name!) comment on F/H, and also suggested that I remove my direct quoting of Lori's fic, so I obliged.
