spiderbraidsThe episodes are fairly intact, so I'm running them together. And filling up the space with some opinions.
Shadows in Bloom
The only notable edits I can think of are these.
Unedited: Bloom is infected by a Shadow Virus, and it stays that way through the episode.
Edited: Avalon first believes that Bloom was infected by a fogmiston virus, but at the end he announces that Icy infected her with the virus. This the 2nd episode I know of where Icy is specifically referenced yet doesn't show up (the other is Royal Heartbreak... Hallowinx references the Trix, but they don't show up).
(Also regarding her little astral journey... you'd think that the most horrible part of the trip, the dark shadows, would be one thing that she'd remember and be quick to mention...)
Tecna rants to Flora about Timmy. Another edit related to the edit from 2x10...
Unedited: T: "How can I like someone who behaves so... illogically?" F: "What exactly did he do?" T: "What he didn't do, you mean" F (thinking "Uh... make his first move?"): "He's just shy, that's all" T (thinking of Timmy's cowardly act several episodes ago): "Being shy is just an excuse. He's supposed to be a hero. If he wanted to do something, he'd do it!"
Edited: Tecna complains that everyone treats her like a computer. After Flora points out that she doesn't, Tec then narrows it down to Timmy, and then continues her rant saying that Timmy won't make the first move (the bulk of her big line is to the tune of, "Why doesn't he come up to me and say 'I'm here because I like you'?" [he talks of FG calling him here for IT work]).
Genuinely funny line from the original alert: Stella... "Let's cut to the chase. What was your mom wearing?"
Two things that aren't different:
1. In both versions, Tecna DOES NOT say "Wait, Avalon sent her on the astral journey, and she turned evil? Maybe I was on to something after all..." Of course, as I mentioned in my controversial podcast, it makes better sense in the original that she doesn't, because the prediction she had used to determine that Avalon was evil was earlier debunked (but it's still flimsy nonetheless for her not to suspect Avalon.)
2. Also, Dark Bloom doesn't tie into Bloom conjuring dark energy in the CT exercise in 2x17. Given the use of a mind-control spell here, Avalon could have made Stella turn rogue. (And I'm not the only one complaining about it. IMO, if you're going to make a point of showing Bloom conjuring dark energy, you're going to have to use it later, and I thought this would have been perfect. Then again, Musa did great at the exercise, and there was no follow-up on that, and the whole "Every power has an opposite, and there's even a third type that manifests itself in special situations" thing from 2x02 didn't get any follow-up either.)
The First Charmix
Once again, short on the edits.
Unedited: The episode begins with FG's having a short flashback to giving the pixie elders the jewelry in "The Dark Tower". IMO, this makes the jewelry's appearance in the season finale a bit less of a 'pull. No one in the target audience is going to remember something that happened 19 episodes ago. Flora (on LD taking over): "That would be awful..." Stella, after imitating Flo's line: "Then stop complaining and do something about it!"
Edited: We just get to FG calling the Winx in. Flora: "I hope we can do it..." Stella, after imitating Flo's line: "With your attitude? We might as well just give up."
We pick up on the subplot involving New!Pally and Avalon.
Unedited: New!Pally tells Livy about the sick Avalon, and Livy mentions there is a universal antidote. The Flora Alba grows in Pixie Village. Livy is about to go off when New!Pally tells Livy that she's forbidden from heading the Pixie Village, but then he thinks that since Darkar is focusing on the Winx, he decides to send her on her way, and tells her to keep a low profile. She promises to be back in "Two shakes of a snake's tail. ... Or is it shark's tail? ... Or maybe pig's tail." HEH!!
Edited: New!Pally wants an antidote from the Pixie Village. Livy is about to go off when New!Pally tells Livy that he hasn't told her yet what it is. He gives her the details, and before she goes off she asks, "Should I call you professor? Or maybe sir?" Less heh.
Neither version makes sense. Edited: So New!Pally hasn't gotten the memo that the pixie village's location must be kept secret, by not having anyone return to it? Unedited: Oh c'mon New!Pally! LD's interested in the Codex, the Winx just happened to get in his way a few times (just not today).
Doesn't anyone find it ironic where the ep with Avalon's idea of boosting Bloom's powers... comes right before the ep where Bloom gets a power boost for real?
(And speaking of mega-powers, just a thought... her ultra-dragonfire power, which is what tipped Icy off that Bloom had the DF in S1, was completely absent from S2. I think that the writers were trying to de-Mary-Sue her, but when you've got a powerful weapon and you can use it, then use it. I bet Tecna would say something like that... At least they should have explained why she hasn't been able to use it.)
Bonus... While typing up my recaplet for 2x13, I remember that 4K changed and/or removed the punks' weapons. More specifically...
Unedited: One held a chain, two others held a bottle and a twig.
Edited: The bottle and twig are no more, and the chain is now a ribbon.
Lemme guess... violence ain't pretty on Saturday mornings.

And where I come from, it's bad etiquette to post just to say that you agree, without really adding anything new to the discussion. One of my last posts was a post on ironies, and apparently irony is seen as negative, even though the song from Hallowinx, the way Chatta talks, and Jolly's prediction to Amore all prove that irony can be pretty entertaining. (Granted, Singsational Musa being released after everyone else probably balances it out...)
I guess there's a reason no one posted about, say, the inconsistency of Tecna shooting a Truth Orb at Fake!Avalon and not revealing he was a fake. (And I still say she didn't cast the spell wrong. No one said so, and it didn't look so.)
And I do listen to other people. I removed a post about Mike's fanfic contest when he told me to. I stopped bashing 4K when the rule came up. I started asking for permission (granted, AFTER the ban) to use other people's quotes in my podcast. The "more positive posts, please" thing is just about the only thing I didn't listen to, and my excuse is above.
I'm not saying that I'm completely innocent, but if I make a regular podcast for Winx fans, that should say something about me.
