Leg 10
1. Due to personal circumstances, this leg's notes are less comprehensive than my usual... We're staying in Bali, and the first task is a diving task in which teams snorkel down to an underwater clue box to grab a cylinder... Dancers Dana/Matt have an argument over whether the cylinder that they retrieved from the box is actually the clue since they were expecting it to be a laminated envelope :-/
2. The next task is a Detour between carrying chickens and coconuts across a rickety bridge in order to load onto a truck, and gathering seaweed to dry out on a tarp, then followed by a double U-turn, which instead of the usual style, consists of four local traditional picture frames and a clue pickup bowl, and the upshot of all this is that team Frisbee Kurt/Brodie have to do both tasks :-/
3. The Roadblock involves jumping into the ocean... and that's pretty much it... Youtubers Tyler/Korey take another leg, while the double Detour ends up knocking out team Frisbee... like I said, not as comprehensive as usual :-/

Leg 11
1. They're heading to Shenzhen, and their first cluebox pickup is right at the airport... T/K are trying to prevent other teams from cluing Alabama Sheri/Cole in to where the box is, but they find out from gamers Burnie/Ashley anyway, and T/K don't like them for that...
2. First proper clue pickup is at the Eiffel Tower replica in Window of the World for a Roadblock, involving locating replicas of many famous monuments according to clues... One of those monuments is a statue with the head of a lion and a tail of a fish, and it's not exactly as world famous as the others (even if a previous TAR season did have a task revolving around it), and it takes Alabama asking around to figure it out...
3. Detour between heading to a district known for paintings to pick up and hang up some paintings (nice drone fly-in shot on the arrays of canvases :-)), or learn to ride a one-wheeled motorized scooter... B/A try the scooter for a while and decide to switch to paintings like T/K and the dancers, as Alabama shows up and gets to work, and surprisingly it's the mom (rather than the skateboard-loving son) who's quickly getting the hang of it :-D At the paintings, T/K explain the technicalities behind the term "smidgen" :-D while hanging their paintings to an exacting standard, which involves the use of spirit levels :-/
4. Pitstop clue is in the form of a painting of the Shenzhen library terrace with a name caption, and T/K get their 5th leg win in the rain, followed by the dancers... So it's coming down to B/A hanging paintings, vs. Alabama learning how to uni-scooter in the rain and then negotiating a street course on the scooter carrying a briefcase... Gamers finish well before Alabama, but we're not done yet...
5. As Alabama are cabbing to the pit stop, they comment on how they've always chosen the "funner" Detour and survived, but I spent quite some time thinking "surely they're not pulling it out of the bag this time", because B/A finished their task first and are at this point long headed to the pitstop... and even though B/A run into a big load of traffic (!) one still expects them to finish ahead... and then Alabama ends up running up the stairs to the pitstop first, thus denying the gamers the opportunity to emulate #TheReporters from last season :-0

Leg 12
1. Los Angeles is the final stop, and we start with a Roadblock: "Who's ready to take a leap of faith?" Involves jumping off a tall building (with the necessary safety gear, duh) to grab a hanging clue... Matt gets it first go :-) T/K claim they're a "two-tries" team... and it ends up taking them three tries, prompting a quip asking whether Tyler was trying to spend more time with the jump instructor :-D ... and dropping them behind Alabama (!)
2. Next up is a chopper ride to Santa Barbara, and a bunch of boats, to look for a boat called Teresa Ann... Dancers briefly try to leave while their boat's still tied to the dock :-D In more race-relevant issues though, D/M make the same mistake Team Green did last finale, and have to call in another cab, which will take about 20 min., while Alabama boat up and down the docks a few times before spotting Teresa, before trying to lead T/K astray... not very successfully I might add... and luckily for the dancers, it doesn't seem like T/K's cabbie knows their next stop, Gibraltar Rock, and Alabama also have to run around before getting a cab that does...
3. Gibraltar Rock for synchronized mountain climbing: one guy pulls himself out on a tirolean zipline to retreive one-half of the next clue, which enables the other to rappel down a cliff face and retrieve the other half. Dana thinks of herself as Lara Croft... a scared Lara Croft :-D while Alabama takes the 2nd height task of the leg in stride in spite of their previously-established fear of heights :-) and T/K just blitz right through the task... and after all that there's still no change in the standings :-/
4. Final stop is a vineyard, and the Dancers run very far into the vineyard and come across the Roadblock venue (consisting of stacked barrels), but have problems finding the clue itself... Turns out to be sticking out of a hay bale on the back of a truck that their cab drove past at the entrance :-) Anyways, the final Roadblock ("Who's ready to roll out the barrels?") involves spelling out all the cities that they went to using barrel lids with letters on them, and since this is the "social media" season, there are also lids with hashtags reflecting some aspect of their destinations (for example, Yerevan is billed as the #12thCapital)
5. And once again, the dancers are done with the task before either of the other teams have shown up :-/ So the only possibility for drama is if the dancers have trouble trying to find the finish line, and the editing is really grabbing for straws here... (And it really goes to show that no matter how good the tasks are, it's not very exciting when there's not much opportunity for overtaking :-/)
6. No surprises, dancers take the win and perform a little dance on the mat, while Alabama celebrate their best finish of the race with 2nd... and even though T/K have every reason to be as bitter as Team Green, their 3rd place arrival shows no sign of it as they talk about how great it was to do the race as friends... as we end the season with a final mat selfie (what else? ;-))
