spiderbraidsThese two eps are pretty faithful to the original. I can only find three edits worth bothering with (then again, the fact I've only seen these episodes once means that I'm probably missing some).
Okay, Timmy is outside with the RF ship while the others consider the mission.
Unedited: Timmy is giving the ship a tune-up for this mission, so it's in tiptop shape.
Edited: Timmy is making adjustments to the ship so that its power doesn't drain in Shadowhaunt... and this ends up being the only time the issues from the mission from earlier in the season are addressed.
However, faithful to the original means not only the good parts (hello, Tecna as your new computer!), but also the bad ones (hello, the Trix assuming that the Ice Crusher would work!).
In particular, I was expecting some sort of explanation why Stella doesn't use her Charmix when Icy makes the Ice Crusher, but nope. So in either version, Flora decides to break in her Charmix to grow vines, without even considering Stella's ability to melt the ice, and with no explanation whatsoever either. What was this meant to show? That Flora is more confident in her powers? If so, the writers deserve a spanking.
And why the heck doesn't Stella's Charmix blast melt the ice when she does use it, anyway? Speaking of that Charmix blast, that's the 2nd and only other edit of the episode worth dealing with...
Unedited: Timmy and Tecna don't think she should use her powers, because of the vines around the ice ball.
Edited: Timmy and Tecna say they're coming up with a plan, and Timmy tells Stella it will work.
I don't know whether to like Stella or hate Stella for this. On one hand, she was being more to the point, but on the other hand, couldn't she have waited a few minutes for their plan to come out? I'm sure that plan would have had a less potential chance of them going splat (this is where all their logic comes in, and Stella has much less than either one of them [much less both!]). Isn't anyone reminded of how she shot the bug in Secret Guardian and set the whole room on fire?
Moving on to the next episode! And there's exactly one edit...
