I list my best and worst edits for S2...

Good:

Darkar tells Icy to retreat, 2x08
Why would Icy think that the guards guarding the Codex would be too much for her? Even if that were so, she could at least still have waited for her sisters... They didn't have problems with the guards at Light Rock...

Sleeping spell mention, 2x10
Tons of virtual ink have been spilt on this one. The short version: We don't like boyfriend-resurrecting Mary-Sues. The slightly longer version: Icy shot Sky. Flora couldn't find a pulse. Bloom couldn't believe it, but as her hands were all over Sky's head, she somehow revived him. The edit is a good un-Mary-Sue-ing (if that's even a word), but on the other hand, this next edit shows that you can overdo un-Mary-Sue-ing.

Bloom and Stella say they had a fight, 2x12
Originally, the two of them had no idea how to converge their powers. Even though they were best friends, and even though their powers were similar. I'm supposed to believe that this was done to tone down Bloom's Mary Sue-ness making her fail in something that looks very easy, but that's exactly why it doesn't work: the OTHER two pairs have finished (if unsuccessful) projects, and with Flora and Tecna, they're just as far from Bloom and Stella as possible. And yet, we're supposed to accept, without any explanation, that Bloom and Stella couldn't figure it out? It would be like Bloom suddenly not being able to remember how to walk. Now, I can imagine them thinking up myriads of ways to join the two powers, and then disagreeing on which one they were going to use. (And, just a random thought, it would have been interesting to see how two powers which aren't based on tangibles [fire and light] could open a box.)

Stormy and Musa fight as one long chunk, 2x15
As much as 2x14 was edited by them, 4Kids did one thing right... they presented this fight as one long chunk, rather than short 20 second chunks one can hardly get into before they cut back to the main plot. (I'm even willing to accept the lack of Layla teaching her the rain dance, even though it would have made sense if they showed that scene before instead of after.)

Bad:

The truth orb, and Tecna's logic is flawed, 2x09
As much as this new version is less violent (remember, SatAM violence in America = bad) I prefer my plots consistent, and this, my friends, is hardly consistent. I address all the flaws in my 4th podcast, but the short version: The new spell they learned doesn't go to waste, and Tecna looks slightly better in the original, because: Tecna's logic being flawed? What were you thinking, FG?

Tecna doesn't begrudge Timmy for being a coward (but rather for not making the first move), 2x10 onwards
This is another edit I disagree about. Once again, I prefer consistency, and Timmy firing shots after Darcy shoots a non-aggression spell (and do we even see her do this?) is pretty inconsistent. I will allow that the other version doesn't hold up either when looking closely, but still... Timmy lets down Tecna by not shooting the Trix, even though he has what seems like a whole minute of open shot opportunity, and then Tecna doesn't let Timmy into her computer in Homesick? Sounds good to me.

Diaspro doesn't rant about Bloom, 2x14
The episode originally already had two strikes against it by not having a scene between Diaspro and the other two. But there's a 3rd strike in America: while the original has Diaspro ranting about all she has learnt so she could marry a prince (read: Sky), the edited has Diaspro promising not to punish her people. The fact that she is clearly ranting than repenting is the least of the problems with that scene.

Stella argues with Musa over music in the CT cafeteria, 2x18
Stella. Dude. You're talking about music with the fairy of music. Of course she'll have the better taste! Originally, Musa is mad that Stella is planning on just sitting in the cafeteria on the assumption that the Trix wouldn't attack here, and that makes sense, considering what Tecna thinks of assuming.

Bonus: Scenes that don't work 100% in either version:

Gag me, 2x08
In the original, it doesn't make sense for Musa to figure out it's Darcy if she doesn't speak (even if it makes Darcy look smart, and thus, in character). In the edited, it doesn't make sense for Darcy to blow her cover that easily (even if in this version Musa uses her sound intuition, if I can call it that, to suss her out). The "sad" part (if you can call it that) is that the only thing the edited had to do differently to put this edit in the good column: Have Darcy disguise her voice so that we don't know it's Darcy until Musa says so. See? Best of both worlds!

Layla is mad at Stella, 2x12
Originally Stella forgets that they're a sextet instead of a quintet. In the edited, Stella proposes a PJ party. (Where I live, this is why Layla was so willing to rejoin them in the first place.) On the one hand, Stella shouldn't be that dumb anymore. On the other hand, why wouldn't Layla jump at the chance to bond with her new friends? Even Musa didn't understand why Layla reacted as such, and that means something.

Livy is sent to her village, 2x20
It was rammed into viewers' heads in 2x11 that LD can spy on pixies, and the pixies returning to pixie village means that LD has found it. So, to keep the village, and its Codex, a secret from LD, the pixies aren't being allowed to return. Yet, Livy just gets sent to return. Originally, New!Pally thinks that LD is interested in the Winx and sends Livy off. In the edited, this issue never comes up. Dumb either way.
