A Happy New Year 2007 banner (in Laotian, of course) in the restaurant in Phine, next to a TV set showing Thailand's Channel 5 (Thai television has been historically popular across the border) and a test transmission from Laostar Channel, Laos' first private TV station

After retiring to our hotel in Hue, time to check out the TV... Coming up tonight on VTV1:
23:15: The moment of death
23:30: Chamber Concert (Do Dung Music Night - Part 2)
23:45: One book per day

Here's what appears to be a local commercial for the Military Bank's Savings program for the Hue branch :-)

Here's a VTV1 menu for tomorrow:
9:30: The Whole World
10:00: Vietnamese Culture: April 30th, Think about patriotism
10:45: Reporting: New features in the election of the National Assembly in Ho Chi Minh City
And although not captured in my photos, I saw a movie on Hong Kong-based Star Movies (now Fox Movies... and ETA soon to be defunct as of October) end with an ident from Canada's CTV (more specifically the end shot of this one, minus the "Canadian Television" text)... being relayed via TrueVisions in Thailand, at a hotel room in Vietnam (!) (And it was highly unusual for Star Movies to air movies made for television to begin with, but I digress)
29 April 2007

It's the next morning, with a testcard from VTV1, and a clock counting up to 5:30, station ID, and a video of a flag raising ceremony...

...followed by a menu for the first programs for today (the rest of the programs would have followed on subsequent screens)
5:35: Morning Exercise
5:55: Legislation
6:00: Good Morning
(Insert your own Robin Williams or Adrian Kronauer joke here... Minor digression: One of our local stations scheduled the Williams movie about a fictionalized version of Kronauer to air the night of 21 July 2018... the same day the actual Kronauer died)

Station ID

Coming up tomorrow at 5:10pm on "DVTV" (local Danang VTV apparently?): Children dancing on a program apparently called "Full Respect" ... Today was also the very first day of the new VTV station VTV6, and I'm thinking this might very well have been a relay of the brand-new station
Here's video I found of the opening night of VTV6, and I'm pretty sure I caught some of this live

VTV3 ident, with the last V spinning into place

A live game show on DVTV ("truc tiep" = live)
30 April 2007

Slide from VTC Cable with the Customer Support hotline... I remember seeing a lector-dubbed version of one of the Harry Potter movies on a VTC channel that night at the hotel in Hue
