1x11: The Beast and the Willow / Junior League
Flora is planting plants all around the dorm.
Unedited: Flora is preparing for her upcoming exams that have been postponed (re last ep). Musa is in her room, reading a text book, also preparing.
Edited: It seems that Flora's planting them just for the heck of it. Musa is in her room, reading sheet music. (The picture has been edited.)
Later on, the Winx are all at the swamp Flora has moved herself to.
Unedited: Blah blah blah about the Cheerful Gladiolus. Its essence counters the witches' sadness spell. It's very skittish, and doesn't let itself get picked (so Flora plans to get it to extend one of its petals, and use her cloning liquid on it). The Winx tramp around the swamp, and Flora is surprised to suddenly discover a colony of nymphs. They say that they keep a low profile, and then they complain about the problems in getting the leaves they need to make their bubble homes.
Edited: Blah blah blah about the Cheerful Gladiolus. Only one exists, and it's owned by the nymph-run junior league of the title. The Winx tramp around the swamp, and Flora finds the league. They talk about the work they do, and then they complain about the problems in getting their food.
(NB: Using the same leaves)
Compared to the other two, these are minor ones.
Unedited: Bloom shoots at the tree. Then she gets the idea to shoot at the roots, and they char up.
Edited: Bloom shoots at the tree. Flora casts a spell that allows the tree to burn at its roots. Bloom shoots the roots, and they char up.
Unedited: After Bloom comments that Flora is sure to ace her test now that she's gotten the flower she wants (courtesy of the nymphs, who say the flower let itself be picked, thereby making Flora's plan completely unnecessary... of course, they're giving it to her in return for dealing with the monster and fixing the problem of no longer having leaves to build their homes with), Flo mentions that Stella's test is tomorrow (B-O <-- smiley of Stella's reaction). Both of these are followed up on in the next episode.
Edited: Flora's gotten the flower, and she decides to put it in Stella's room (B-O <-- Stella's reaction).
Responses:
tanz_fanatika, correcting my note for the first edit: Flora's not planting for no reason. She's been working on a potion to protect them from the witches.
No other comments really. I still think it's silly to have Flora not reviving a dead planet.
Me: That's also the gist of the original, except that she's planning to use the potion she makes in the exam (which happens in the next ep). Might explain why the potion's nowhere to be found in the other eps...
tanz_fanatika: Yeah, but I'd rather have an absent potion than a completely illogical test choice for her.
(NB: Meanwhile, no thoughts on the 4Kids-titular Junior League already being known by Flora in 4Kids, when no one had seen them before in the unedited :-\)
Other edits:
- 4Kids leans in on the Junior League-iness of the nymphs, by having them mention a literacy for butterflies benefit, an annual swamp palace tour, and a polliwog playground improvement project... but thankfully, 4Kids kept the "Your Littleness" bit in :-)
- Visual edit on Tecna analysing the gas: Unedited: The screen on Tecna's computer is somewhat plain, and shows a simple graph. Edited: Tec's screen has color, and a more intricate graph.
- Also, 4Kids makes another spoiler edit that deprives this episode of some of its mystery: After the Winx leave Flora's base camp, the 4Kids dub cuts to a shot of the menacing tree on the turtle beast, whereas the original saves it for when the Winx arrive there.
