1x23: Power Play / The Search for the Flame
The gang's looking for the DF at CT.
Unedited: Brandon and Riven split off to free the prisoners. (Then why was Grif making that potion last ep? She said it would scramble the magic on the lock so she could pick it, so to speak.)
Edited: Brandon and Riven split off to the crypt (I assume to look for the DF).
That was the minor one, of course... This is the big one.
Unedited: About 1/4 of the way through the show, Priscilla and Ortensia talk about the current battle with the remaining Winx. Then Tecna (after getting paged on her "zipper pull") runs off to analyze something about a subspace shield with Timmy. She is slightly googly eyed at Timmy, but resists the temptation to just tell him. (Yeah... a lot like Flora and Helia the next season.) But the scene does end with a bunch of numbers scrolling across a screen before skittling out into a heart shape (apparently Tecna doesn't quite understand the concept of "love").
Edited: The show starts with the Priscilla and Ortensia scene, and the content is just about the same (except Musa doesn't compare everyone's roles to an orchestra). Tecna gets paged and runs off. We fast forward almost all the way to the end before we see Tecna again. She's analysing how big the Army of Decay is with Timmy. We see only the first few seconds of the numbers scrolling across the screen, and not the heart that they form.
(NB: As in my profile icon :-) At the time, I didn't have my profile icon yet; didn't think it was necessary, didn't get mine until well after the ban)
Responses:
tf: Tecna heart: 4Kids is WAY better here. Way, way better. It would have been completely illogical for Tecna to lose her focus on the possibly life-threatening battle. That would have blown my mind with its out-of-characterness. I'm really glad they cut it.
tf, after I gave her a link to a picture of the Tecna heart: I've seen it numerous times. It makes me cringe.
ddrfan: Woah!!! Tecna is not the kind of falling in love oooh la la person, she is more of a I'm going to use my technology skills to save everyone person.
(NB: ddrfan is being relatively reserved here [and actually providing a reason for preferring the 4Kids version], while on her personal blog, she was demanding me, using very strong language, to stop making these posts, even saying that I convinced her the unedited was "super boring" [!] and insisting that "4Kids kicks @ ss with the voices and the script" [!!])
