3x02: Valtor's Mark / Beauty is a Beast

Three changes this time around, starting at the Hall of the Universe at Stella's palace:

Unedited: Stella says this has always been her favorite part of the palace. Bloom launches into a flashback to the invasion of Domino.
Edited: Stella tells Bloom it can show her any moment in time anywhere in the realms, and Bloom has it show her the invasion of Sparks.

Party time!

Unedited: Flora comments on how Solaria went all out for the Princess Ball, and Bloom says "Just wait until you see the princess."
Edited: Flora "can't believe Helia's ship broke down", and Bloom says "He could still make it" (Spoiler: he doesn't and neither does anyone else; Sky and Brandon are already there)

The 4K line draws a bit of attention to the fact that out of all the people who'd RSVP'd their invitations last week (a list that included Mirta I might add), only Sky and Brandon showed up. TF did suggest that "The animators probably didn't want to have too many characters in those scenes and dropped the unimportant boys and Mirta to make their lives easier."

Radius announces his upcoming marriage to Chimera's mom.

Unedited: Stella: "Why didn't you tell me about this before?" Radius: "Well, I wanted it to be a surprise..." (Stella walks off silently)
Edited: Stella (blandly): "Congratulations father." Radius: "You don't sound very happy, what's the matter?" Stella (after walking off): "I'm happy..."

I thought Stella should have just been frank with her dad (before I found out that's exactly what she did in the original), and suggested in email to TF that she had every right to lash out against her dad's choice of wife-to-be, and she said: "Well, it's probably best not to question the king in public, even if you are his daughter. Fake it for now, talk to him in private later. Seems the best course of action." She also added that "The problem is that Stella doesn't know for sure that Cassandra is bad. She just doesn't like her because she's not her mother and she's biased. Cassandra, of course, is actually a b!tch, but she might not be. Also, it wouldn't have been becoming of a princess to pitch a tantrum in front of the court. What kind of behavior is that from the future ruler?" In her review, TF was also disappointed that they went the cliched evil stepmother route, and would have preferred for Cass to genuinely be in love with Radius, which likely would have been much more interesting; for one, Stella would not have had a convenient reason to stop the wedding, and there would have been a chance that she would actually have to deal with having bratty Chimera as a stepsister... Go figure that one of the much-derided Alvin and the Chipmunks movies actually features this dynamic :-\

While the 4K version does have potential for some drama from Stella not being truthful to her dad about her feelings, it's undermined by the unedited version not being written that way, otherwise you'd expect them to milk that drama for all it was worth... Obviously, these won't have been posted at winx_club @ lj, but I posted them on a different, more welcoming Winx message board, but I didn't receive much feedback there until later episodes :-\
