EPG fails, batch the 3rd (and a half)
Dec. 23rd, 2023 08:38 pmYou'd think I'd have run out of these old-time EPG fails by now, and well, so did I after stumbling upon and posting a picture of a summary of a different reality show titled The Colony than the one that Discovery Channel Asia actually aired... Turns out I had a few more vintage fails in a different corner of my drive:

When episode-specific synopses appear on the EPG, it's usually from regional channels, but this 2011 example for The Underdog Show (which to most modern audiences is probably more remembered for Scrubs featuring an a-capella rendition of the theme song) was from one of our in-house stations... and I'm pretty sure the evil scientist actually is named Simon (!)

Along the lines of Rick Polito's famous Wizard of Oz listing, and back when MGM still had its own TV channel (albeit one above our package level), this 2013 synopsis for Bio-Dome seems nice and all for thrilling sci-fi horror along the lines of Life (the one with Ryan Reynolds, not the one about James Dean)... except that those "life forms" are actually completely human stoners, one of whom is played by Pauly Shore (!), and this is Pauly's most famous comedy (!!)
And going to more modern times...

TrueVisions mixes up their superhero cinematic universes in this 2018 synopsis for Batman vs Superman

On one of their in-house channels, A Series of Unfortunate Events misses the main part of the title, leaving just the part hardly anyone uses

TrueVisions mixes up their news channels on a 2022 US election results show on one of the news channels (and it isn't even the US Presidential Election, either, just the run-off for senate in Georgia state)

Nick Jr. only started airing on TrueVisions after they'd stopped airing Dora the Explorer on a regular basis, only airing holiday-themed episodes around holidays (based on the April date, this probably would have been "Dora's Easter Adventure"), so it boggles my mind how the synopsis for "Dora's Pirate Adventure", a normal episode, got attached to the show (Incidentally, when it aired on regular Nick in the early 2010s, it also got a different specific episode's synopsis as well)

TrueVisions even manages not to get the gender of the main (and titular!) character right in this in-house 2023 synopsis for Joy, even though they correctly list J-Law as its star :-\
