Last day of the year...
Dec. 31st, 2006 09:32 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
1. Last night, I went to a party with some old friends of mine, and got a lamp. It looks nice. Dunno if I'll use it tho.
2. Still trying to upload my latest podcast. Still not succeeding. (That's the price you pay for making a BIIIIG podcast during the holidays when you're away from a high-speed connection... as in REALLY high-speed.) Looks like I'm going to have to split it up into two parts... (Update: Even an 8MB MP3 is still too big for dibidib. Hmm... I'm wondering if there's a problem at their end...)
3. Looking back at the year gone by, and there were both things good (guess who got a YouTube account!) and bad (guess who got banned from Toon Zone?), but when was that not ever true? Hmmm, just found a survey from
eilonwe. Doing it right now!
====
1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
* Uploaded videos to YouTube
* Made a presentation at an academic conference
* BitTorrented Winx (S3 ain't out in my country yet!)
* Recorded a podcast
* Blogged
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't do any resolutions this year, but I'm thinking of one resolution for the next: Not to be an ass to the Winx fandom like I was earlier in the past year.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Let me borrow Lori's quote: "I don't do birth. Seriously."
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.
5. What countries did you visit?
Just a week or two ago, I took a short jaunt into Tachileik, a border town on the Thai-Burma border. I also expect to be heading to the Czech Republic at the end of January. (Meanwhile, my sister went to Holland to further her studies.)
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Eh, I dunno.
7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
* September 16th, for being Lori's "meh" day (if you're one of Lori's friends, you'll understand)
* June 13th, for being banned from Toon Zone
* October 7th, for posting my very first YouTube video, for my previous fandom, Hey Arnold! (whose 10th anniversary was this date)
* June 9th, for the day when our King came out to a sea of yellow
* December 22nd, for going to Royal Flora
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
My presentation at the CAD 06 conference in late June.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Being rejected from quite a few conferences I'd submitted to, and does not earning the respect of the Winx fandom count?
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I hardly ever buy anything, so I don't think I can make a fair judgment on that.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
No one around here.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
No one's really.
14. Where did most of your money go?
My usual everyday expenses.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I'd say the announcement Winx S3 in the US, but that was more than balanced out by Lori's "meh" day. So I'll have to say, Winx S2 over here.
16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2006?
None really. Like I said, I don't remember that kind of stuff.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?
b) thinner or fatter?
c) richer or poorer?
About the same, for all of the above.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Looking back, maybe a bit more of actual work?
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
POing my parents. And making the Winx fandom feel so negative about me, I guess?
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Vacation. Or rather, coming home from vacation.
21. How will you be spending New Years?
Home, I guess?
22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Nope. I have no time for trivialities.
23. How many one-night stands?
Zero.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Winx Club and The Amazing Race.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really.
26. What was the best book you read?
Al Kahn would be proud of me: I don't read. At least not fiction, anyway.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I don't listen to the radio too much, but my dad found a Beautiful Music channel on his satellite receiver, and has been listening to it a LOT.
28. What did you want and get?
None.
29. What did you want and not get?
Um... maybe a working portable radio (Walkman)?
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I don't watch films unless they're on TV. Of what I saw on the tube this year, I kinda enjoyed School of Rock.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
It was business as usual on my 23rd birthday.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Myself and my podcast being respected by the
winx_club community. Instead, it seemed everyone was ready to poop on it (and me) like Triumph.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Non-existent.
34. What kept you sane?
Winx. My teacher.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don't fancy anyone.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Over here, the "unfair" elections in April, and then the latest coup d'etat in September.
37. Who did you miss?
I never miss. Not because I've got great aim, but it's because I have a hard time making friends to begin with. Yeah, like Layla.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Like I said, I hardly meet anyone new.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
It's a toss-up between "Good intentions do not innocence make" and "Dissing 4K is not cool". Pathetic, isn't it?
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Umm... "Because you've had a bad day"? I kept having too many bad days this year. Maybe "I never meant to cause you trouble / I never meant to do you harm" could apply as well, especially to the Winx fandom.

4. Meanwhile, I just read on
melashaan's journal about her banning from her journal some woman who wouldn't post the screengrabs she'd made from Winx. And I agree: What kind of Winx fan makes screengrabs and then insists on not sharing them with the community? At least
evilvanessafan shares hers...
Late addition:
5. It's coming up to 9pm over here, and there has been terrorism in a few spots around Bangkok. One countdown party has been cancelled, two more are on notice.
2. Still trying to upload my latest podcast. Still not succeeding. Date: 2006-12-31 06:10 pm (UTC)-Months ago (August?), KF posted some very nice screenshots in the Winx community, but she made the mistake of including a note that said she had absolutely TONS more screenshots, but would not share them. A bunch of us were pretty irritated at her childish behavior. You don't say "Nyah nyah nyah I'm not going to share" in my community and get away with it. So we bitched at her and she chickened out and deleted her post.
-Mela posted about it in her journal and we commented back and forth for awhile.
-Now, months later, one of KF's friends commented in Mela's post, asking what KF did. At the same time, I got an email from someone calling herself "Princess Bloom" also asking what KF did. We explained. That person never replied, but KF herself came in and threw a little snit fit in Mela's post. I replied to that and so did another person.
-Over in her journal, KF whined that she left the Winx community over something "too awful to explain." Over in Mela's journal, we laughed about this. The especially funny thing is she says she left, but she's still listed as a member, so she didn't!

Date: 2007-01-01 02:12 am (UTC)See, even I wouldn't be that selfish. I've made a few Winx vids, and I share them on YouTube if I think they're good enough. (If I were still a member of the community, I'd proudly be posting them there as well as here.)
-Mela posted about it in her journal and we commented back and forth for awhile.
I wouldn't have had much to add to the discussion besides, "Even I'm not that selfish". (Of course, Mela had banned me earlier when I asked her to check out my journal, so...)

Date: 2007-01-05 11:24 pm (UTC)My response in my head was fuck you, if you don't want to share all of the images then why the fuck did you mention about all those over 1,000 nice ass pictures in high quality and I'm going to share them with others and lalaallalaalalal. I bet she's gone forever and my respone is hooray because she ticked me off with that lj-cut displaying that type of shit to everyone else in the community.
BitchFlora has got to be under the age of 18 to act that stupid and gay.
