Just got dissed by a YouTuber
Jan. 17th, 2007 01:34 pmWell, there's one YouTuber who probably isn't coming to
winx_club anytime soon...
So, one day I found this vid clip showing the differences between Rainbow and 4K's versions of the scene where Bloom finds out she's adopted. Except in the 4K version, she already knows from the start.
Back when I originally posted my Editor's Spotlight for the ep, I said, "It makes more sense for Bloom to be all wide-eyed upon finding out that she was adopted, rather than how she was adopted."
Turns out there are other people who think that way (even if I'm no longer one of them), judging from the comments made under the vid. Some even complained that 4K sapped all the drama out of this scene by making that change. I posted the other side of the story, basically, that having Bloom already know from the start makes it different from every other show on TV.
Enter Winxrocks. Her attitude against 4K? Well, take me at my worst, and ramp it up big time. What did she say about this change?
"Nobody wants to listen to someone who thinks that 4kids is good in any way. From the very beginning in the 4kids version Bloom knew she was adopted, but in the original she only found out in this episode. 4kids just ruined everything. They suck and so do their dubbed shows."
Ouch. Even I didn't complain that hard about the change.
Later, she would leave another deuce at one of my comparison vids: "Why do you keep supporting the 4kids version? It stinks. It's better for Icy to make her own judgement instead of having Darkar tell her what to do."
Now methinks this comment is a bit over the line. Icy looks much better in the 4K version, only running back because LD told her so, rather than seeing there are too many guards. Her Gloomix was certainly going to be able to take them down. So why complain? I'm not complaining...
Yeah, it just tees me off to see people say that 4K is absolutely incapable of ever doing anything good (and/or that I should think that way). I know, someone will argue that 4K completely screwed the viewers out of anything meaningful (read: the scene between Diaspro and Flora) in 2x14, but I will argue back that there was little substance in 2x14 to begin with (and that they showed the ep's other good part, the Stormy and Musa fight, in the next ep). Besides, even at my worst, I still gave them credit for their change in 1x05 (Fake!Sky has been punished for losing the troll during the nature walk, where he had been exercising that night originally) and 2x12 (Bloom and Stella got into a fight on how they could converge their two similar powers, instead of simply not figuring out how in the original).
In a nutshell, just because it's been edited doesn't automatically make it suck (see "Magic in My Heart"). So, no complaining about 4K, OK?
