winxrocks strikes again
Jan. 31st, 2007 01:49 pmOkay, so winxrocks continues to lash out at me for not hating 4K's dub of Winx.
Lash-out #1: My first comparisons video for Magical Reality Check.
wr: Are you siding with 4kids or what?
SB: No, I'm just taking things at face value. You should really watch the 2nd MRC comparisons vid though... Seriously, could you at least try to be a bit more open-minded?
wr: 4kids version, gripping? "The Flame will restore the magnificence of a distant past" sounding more gripping than "We will rule everything and everybody". Also, remember how the Winx fought the tree and the monster in the black-mud swamp instead of really looking for the plant they wanted. Flora could easily change her mind to fighting the witches for the test. And in what way is the "problem solved"?
SB: The "problem" was that Flora's specialty is growing plants, which would fit the "dead planet" test, yet in the original, she's taking the other one instead. By not having the other one to begin with, Flora has to take this exam, and thus, the problem is solved.
wr: She took the other one because in the other episode, she fought with the rest of the Winx girls instead of really looking for the plant she wanted, thus it gave her more confidence to take the other one.
SB: But the "dead planet" test plays straight to her strengths. So logically, she should be picking this one, regardless of anything else.
wr: Fine, whatever you say, still, I think it was stupid of 4kids to take out the other option.
My two cents: Flora may have just fought a monster and an evil tree, but that still doesn't mean that she should be passing over anything that plays on her forte in the midterms. She needs good grades! If she'd happened to fail the exam, her Winxmates would have been all over her not taking the easier-for-her exam. (Thinks of Griffin deliberately pairing Bloom off with Tecna in 2x17)
I bet winxrocks thinks 4K was stupid for that edit simply because it was an edit. She probably thinks EVERY change in the Winx dub is a "Diaspro's rant" mangle job. (Which is why in my latest vid coming soon, I include a screen saying, "Yeah, it's a good 4K change. So THERE! :P")
Lash-out #2: My new AMV. I put the scene in 2x26 at the start, so that Bloom's "I love you too" leads perfectly into the song. Of course, winxrocks thinks this is a snub against the original, which I do prefer, but still...
wr: Aw, can't you use the original version for the first scene? The 4kids version sounds so corny, "L" word and stuff....
SB: More people watch the 4K version, so they'll be more familiar with that version.
wr: Well, I think you should make people more familiar with the original version, so that more people will watch it instead of the crappy 4kids version.
SB: It's a double edged sword though... there'd be people all, "Hey, that's not how I remember this scene." (It cuts both ways, too... I know I was confused when I first read about Stella getting spelled in 1x09...)
Two cents: It's art. Just let it slide, winxrocks.

Date: 2007-01-31 07:37 am (UTC)She doesn't like the word "love?" What is she, ten? Grow up, chickie. Love's not corny. It's a major part of life! She must never have experienced it. Sad.
Although I have to admit that I find it amusing that you're dealing with someone similarly to the way I had to deal with you when you were more stubborn and narrow-minded about 4Kids.

Date: 2007-01-31 07:50 am (UTC)I bet winxrocks would quickly dismiss that as a "Be grateful" defense and go back to watching her fansubs or something...

I totally concur.
Though I will admit that the original version of Sky's speech to Bloom in Realix ain't too shabby either. (Er... you did get the sound I sent you a while back, right?)

Ain't that the truth! (And honestly, that's the first thing I was thinking of when I had to deal with winxrocks at the Yahoo group. She doesn't b!tch as much there as she does on YouTube though...)

Date: 2007-01-31 04:18 pm (UTC)I don't listen to most of the sounds you send me. I'm on dial-up and have a full-time job. I don't have a lot of free time and downloading anything takes too much time.

Date: 2007-02-02 04:47 am (UTC)Good thing I transcribe every comparison vid and podcast I upload then, huh?
Anyways, as I was saying, the original version of Sky's speech to Bloom in Realix ain't too shabby either. Transcript time!
(As Sky walks off)
Brandon: Sky!!
(Brief shot of Tecna, before showing Sky approaching DB)
Sky: Bloom!
LD: Hah-hah-hah-hah-hah... you think you can bring her back to the light?
S: Bloom, can you hear me? It's Sky... your Sky.
(DB starts laughing evilly)
S: Bloom, listen to me.
DB: Huh?
S: You have to wake up. That day that you saved my life (http://spiderbraids.livejournal.com/5588.html), I wanted to tell you my feelings.
LD: YOU'RE PATHETIC!!!
S: And then, I made a promise to myself: that one day I'd save you. But, I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do. (pause) Maybe, the only thing I wanted really was to spend more time with you, because I care more about you than any one else in the world. Please Bloom, please.
(two seconds tableau of the whole scene before showing the Specs gapsing, then CharmixStella and CharmixTecna. DB just laughs again and makes Sky collapse)
B: SKY!!
LD: Hah-hah-HAH-hah-hah-hah! What USELESS effort!!!
So, what do you think, miss? The only problem I have with the speech is the "There's nothing I can do" part... I mean, a) he's right in front of the very person he promised to save, and b) it sounds more like he's surrendering to LD than trying to bring her back to the light. However, referencing 2x10 does make up for it quite a bit.

It's not bad. I prefer the "I love you" though. It's finally Sky committing to someone after being such a jerk to her (and Diaspro) in the past.
