This week, Bloom continues her training on Pyros, and finishes just in time to go help the others on their big mission to rescue Tecna.

"The Power Within" has Bloom continuing her training on Pyros. Buddy, after being a big part of the previous episode's training, is nowhere to be seen this week. Instead, we get an elder lady named Maia.

[Maia introduces herself to Bloom, plus the whole dealie with Enchantix]

Conveniently forgotten, both this week and next, is the fact that Tecna didn't save anyone from her own realm either.

Anyways, they meditate. A lot. Much later, Bloom gets a necklace.

[Maia gives Bloom her necklace]

Oh yeah, and a really kickin' battle happens.

[Trix and Bloom battle time! Plus, Bloom's Enchantix transformation]

And Bloom finally has her Enchantix.

Meanwhile in the other plotline, Tecna has been found, and Brandon, Timmy and Helia (yes, he's back) are on a mission to rescue her, along with the Enchantix squad. Let's listen to some of their cool powers:

[We hear a few attacks: Musa has her Soundwave Attack, Stella has her Sunbeam Shower, and Layla has what she calls "Enchanted Morphix": "I hate stepping in stuff, and I hate pink"]

But the last we see of this mission this week, just before the last commercial, is the boys getting captured, and the Enchantix squad falling off a cliff. Even though they have wings. I... guess they don't work when falling backwards? Whatever. Time for Lori to chip in her two cents:

(BZZ)

It's nice to see the lesser boys (Timmy and Helia) do something rescuey for once. And Brandon hasn't been showcased too much this season, so yay for him, too.
What I think really would have been cool would have been if a couple freshmen or sophomore Specialists came along. They never seem to have the older boys helping to train anyone and new guys need mission experience, too.

I still don't like these false Enchantixes. But at least Maia explains Bloom's a little bit. It's not very ornamental in animation though, so something tells me it's not quite right.

I liked Layla finally using the term "Morfix" for her pink stuff. Because you knew that stuff wasn't any normal type of fluid. But I didn't like the girls tumbling off a cliff when they have those giant shiny new wings. Fly, you morons!

I enjoyed Bloom a lot in this episode, thus proving once again that I like her best when she's by herself. Buddy seems to have disappeared though. I wonder if he absorbed into her, truly becoming her inner dragon.

(BZZ)

That would seriously be Tokyo Mew Mew territory there, absorbing an animal into yourself.

We'll finish up this arc after the news.

(News sting)

And now, news from the Winx world.

Michael Grant reports on his site that in the UK, Eaglemoss Publishers have discontinued their Winx magazine, Winx Club Friends, after 5 issues, because it wasn't selling well enough.

For those of you ordering the Italian Winx DVDs, Michael also reports that the last 4 DVDs from the third season will be available soon, and the first 8 volumes are already out, for 18 Euros each at InternetBookShop.it.

In ratings news, Cynopsis reports that "Island of Dragons" scored 0.6 point and 5 share, while "The Power Within" scored 0.9 point and 6 share. Considering how "Point of No Return" scored a full 1.0 point and 7 share, I'm tempted to wonder if 4K showing the Enchantixes earned in these episodes in the episode preview helped boost their ratings.

And that's news, from the Winx world.

(End news sting)

"The Omega Mission" opens with Bloom returning to Alfea, where the pixies tell her that the other girls have gone to the Omega Dmension. Faragonda talks about Bloom's training.

[Faragonda talks about Bloom's training, and how she's a VERY rare exception to fairy rules]

Once again, the writers can't seem to be bothered to remember that we never even SAW anyone from Tecna's realm before she got her Enchantix either.

Anyways, Bloom meets Sky for the first time since "Operation Boyfriend Rescue". Awkward, much?

[Sky feels guilty about the whole deal with Diaspro, but Bloom insists he shouldn't be]

On with the mission. Sky and Bloom have found Tecna, and she explains how she survived, plus what's going on in the Omega Dimension.

[Tecna used her power to close the portal, and has made an outfit to be warm, and is able to create food from ice. She also mentions that convicts have been roaming the dimension since Baltor's escape]

And we also get not one, but two good battles. First up is the Winx vs. an ice snake.

[The other girls have a combined attack, and Bloom chips in with her own dragon attack. It then turns out that Bloom and the ice snake have formed some sort of telepathic link]

Wow, how... Harry Potter.

Meanwhile, the boys square off against the Omega convicts. The boys get a little help from Bloom... and the ice snake.

[Bloom has the ice snake go after the convicts, and the mission leaves]

After all is said and done, the Winx have a slumber party.

[While the others are having fun, Bloom and Flora talk about Sky inviting Bloom to his lakehouse for the summer. Flora thinks Bloom's getting engaged]

OOH!

Lori reviews.

(BZZ)

The pixies: Amore and Lockette still tee me off. So does Tune, whose etiquette rules seem pretty subjective. If she wants to eavesdrop, then it's not rude, but I'm sure she'd call someone else out if they did it.

Meanwhile, Kiko is nowhere to be seen. Poor Kiko. Forgotten again. Is it really so hard for the writers to add him in there? Bloom would not forget about her pet.

The "rare exception": That is lame, pure and simple. I still want an explanation for Tecna's Enchantix. Crappy writing!

(BZZ)

Word. Total word. And speaking of Tecna...

(BZZ)

People call Bloom a Sue, but Tecna really pulled this Omega Dimension stuff outta nowhere. So it's not just Bloom that has these moments. Regardless, Tecna rocked this episode.

Bloom: I really liked her this episode. She was strong, but not annoying. I don't care what anyone says, she's not a true Mary Sue. Not anymore. Whether you like her or not, you gotta admit that dragon attack was pretty sweet.

Engagement: So Bloom and Sky are probably going to get engaged before Winx is finished. Not this season, but maybe in the movie. Push for a long engagement, Bloom, because take a good look at how his last one worked out. They're WAY too young to get married anyway. If you can't legally drink yet, you shouldn't be getting married.

(BZZ)

Winx has gone on hiatus AGAIN, with another rerun of "Miss Magix" airing this past Saturday. So it'll be a while before we resume the bitterness over Tecna's unexplained Enchantix, and start the deal with Layla's arranged marriage.

And that's it for this edition. Comments and suggestions can be left at my blog at spiderbraids.livejournal.com, and the Winx group at Yahoo! Groups: tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/winx. Thanks for listening.
