The Amazing Race Asia, 2x09-10
Jan. 31st, 2008 08:04 pmIn which the Marc and Rovilson tour continues touring East Europe.
2x09:
1. First route marker had everyone taking a train to Prague to head to some funicular place thingy. The task: count the steps from the bottom to the top. One of the guys wrote 300, and for some reason "This is Sparta" popped into my head. The actual answer was 299, BTW.
2. Next marker was a rowing task, which involved rowing in a particular direction to the next clue box. Like the Guam GPS task, without the GPS :-)
3. Next clue box led to the Intersection. Although there was a slight tweak to allow a team to pick any team they wanted to pair up with, in practice they all paired up 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 anyway. And 6th place (Terri and Henry) happened to be like 6 hours behind by the time they even started the leg, so 5th place (my beloved Paula and Nat) was forced to sit around for like 5-6 hours before they eventually showed up.
4. Team task, shooting hockey pucks at some arena. Kind of the reverse of TAR5's Russia hockey detour. Eh, whatever, next task please.
5. Team detour, between photographing hard-to-find monuments or rolling beer kegs. And we REALLY mean hard to find, such that the only pair that took the monument detour ended up doing the beers anyway.
6. After the Detour, teams split from their intersections for the Roadblock, a ten-meter dive, once again taken from Russia (albeit a different season). Adrian and Colin were ahead at the Roadblock, but Marc and Rovilson managed to pass them to get 1st place YET AGAIN.
7. I only watched up to when Pam and Vanessa performed the roadblock, and the Roadblocker ended up breaking her lip, plus having a serious case of temporary amnesia afterwards. Is a ten-meter dive REALLY that dangerous? Anyways, I found out later that Henry and Terri were FINALLY eliminated after three straight last place finishes. Whatever. On to the next leg!
2x10:
1. And now, on to Budapest (made famous by Kellie Pickler :-) ) by train. While everyone got bunched up, Adrian and Colin found a better train than the one everyone else took that got them in an hour before M/R and friends.
2. After getting a clue in Budapest, the next clue sent them to some farm for the Detour. Choice, putting hay on a cart or milking a goat. "Baby, there's no more milk!" :-) Okay, so Pam and Vanessa didn't actually SAY that, but in most viewers' minds they did :-) Meanwhile, everyone else did the hay. I should note that it was a hot day, with temperatures approaching 40 degrees Centigrade. And Marc and Rowilson were in an unfamiliar position: 4th place.
3. Roadblock involved going down a zip line... while adding numbers. Seriously. Most racers had to do this one twice, but Marc and Rowilson did it in one. Of course. Ann and Diane managed to get into drama just going from the end of the course back to the start to try again.
4. Next clue called for racers to find a fountain depicted on the 1000 Florint note to get the next route marker. Somewhere along the way, Paula and Nat sunk to 5th and last place. Wha???
5. Pit stop actually called for the racers to drive through one particular entrance, and Adrian and Colin were dinged for it. Whoops. Back to the car, then. After getting the job right the 2nd time, Adrian and Colin FINALLY brought an end to M/R's consecutive 1st place streak. They're getting cell phones... but it happens that one of them is hearing impaired. Really.
6. Marc and Rovilson. Pit stop. Carrying plants. Which didn't hide them AT ALL. "Surprise!" Wow, lame humor much? They're 2nd place, and just like the only other time they didn't finish first, they'll take it. Ann and Diane got the same problems as A/C, but eventually, Paula and Nat finished behind the other two teams, but they weren't eliminated. You know what that means, though: They're getting a 30 minute penalty this week.
Next episode starts in just an hour, so thought I'd get this out first.
