Plug for the latest updates on my Winx Gallery: I've uploaded a few new galleries ("Princess of Tides", "Trouble in Paradise", Flora's Enchantix) and made updates to many of my other galleries... including the one for "this episode.

Previously on Winx Club: Tecna sacrificed herself to save Andros, gaining her Enchantix in the process, despite the total lack of a Zenith connection in the plotline. The fans, especially those of Tecna like myself who were expecting to finally see her home planet and its people, thanks to the Enchantix plot point, were incensed, and it doesn't get better this week.

We open at the forest, with the girls crying like crazy. Mostly Enchanti, with Bloom the sole remaining Winx girl. They're with Timmy and Riven.

Flora: "Tecna was a brave fairy."
Layla: "She was brave and selfless. She gave her life to save Andros."

We see Timmy feeling sad: "I can't do this! It's not right!" Riven tells the girls to go on.

Bloom: "Her eyes... there was so much hope in her eyes."
Musa: "Yeah... and you remember the times when she tried to be funny?"
Me: (racking brain to think of some, but only recalls two: "I'll switch myself off now" and that weak "Speaking of which" attempt in 2x18)
Stella: "I wish I'd laughed more..." Bloom: "Me too."
Me: "Well, I don't blame you." (And I'm pretty sure Stella wasn't there for either of those moments...)

Timmy completely loses his temper: "Stop it! Tecna's not gone!"
Riven: "Timmy, Tecna disappeared inside the Omega portal.."
Musa: "The gate's closed forever, there's no way..."
Timmy: "No, you're wrong! All of you!
Rivne: "Timmy..."
Timmy: "Let go of me!"
Riven: "Uh, I'll go talk to him..." He leaves, leaving Musa agape.
Bloom: "We're gonna miss you Tecna..."
Stella: "We're gonna miss you like crazy!"

And something I didn't notice the first time I was watching this to recap it (and apparently, neither did Lori): During the above, we see Helia for the first time in half a freakin' season. Hey Helia, you've missed A LOT. What irks is that Helia was pretty much needed the most real development (especially in the Flora department), and instead he's easily the most absent major character this season. And even here, Helia doesn't say anything at all, as if he was just dropped in there when they realized how long he'd been gone, which is why I didn't notice him the first time.

Anyways, at a bench at RF (the first time we've gone here all season; that's how little the boys have been used), Riven is telling Timmy to face reality.

Timmy: "Riven, you know how sometimes you can feel someone's magic vibe?"
Riven: "Yeah, I think..."
Timmy: "Well, I could always feel Tecna's real strongly, and I still can."
Riven: "Timmy..."
Timmy: "No, listen to me. If she were gone, there'd be a void, an emptiness all around me, but... there isn't. I feel her. Tecna, I know you're alive, and I'll find you. I promise!"

We'll get back to Timmy later, but for now, we head over to Alfea where we see something you don't see every day: The Winx girls being hopeless. Actually, we're not so sure that we'll be able to call them the Winx for much longer...

Bloom: "It's just not the same without Tecna."
Musa: "Maybe we should call it quits, you know, disband the club."
Stella: "I hate to say this, but I agree."
Flora: "Me too."
Layla: "It's the right thing to do guys."

Somehow, I can't really imagine Tecna being the glue that held the Winx together, I mean, she never did anything really notable before her sacrifice. I could make a better case for anyone else, except maybe Layla, but only because she wasn't even there in the beginning. Anyways...

Bloom: "Yeah, but before we break it up, there's one more thing we have to do together..."
Stella: "Pay back Valtor!"
Musa: "Yeah, get rid of him for good!"

The dorm door opens. Here comes FG...

FG: "Well now, how is everybody doing?"
Stella: "Not good, but we'll feel better after we pay Valtor a visit!"
FG: "Valtor needs to be stopped and punished... but you can not strike back in anger. It would be a terrible mistake."
Bloom: "Do you expect us to just sit here after what he did to Tecna???"
FG: "No, but I can't risk losing all of you either. You will stay on campus until further notice. Tomorrow we'll hatch a plan."

We head over to CT, where Val is studying some sort of celestial map. He touches one with a ring around it: "Planet Oppositus." (stress on the 2nd syllable, for some reason)

Oppositus. Mountains. Temples. Natural stuff. (Sigh, and to think that the animators didn't have any imagination to spare for Zenith or its people...)

Two random people, a couple, come out of a building. (I repeat my comment above.) The guy is short and thin: "We're such opposites we're perfect together." The girl is a bit taller and much fatter: "It's like we're made for each other!" And then who should pop up right in front of them but Valtor?

Valtor just walks straight past the couple into some building. Guards. One is fat and short, the other is slim and tall. Get it? "Halt. How dare you enter the Palace of Oppositus!" Val: "Oh, I don't want to enter the palace..." Fat guard: "Then come on in."

Yeah, seriously. I guess it ties in to Oppositus' nature in some way, but still... what kind of lax security is that??? Seriously!

So, after the lax security at the palace, Val easily takes two scrolls, each marked with a Roman 2, one black, one white. Actually, we just see the Roman 2's fly to his hands as he's sucking their powers.

As that's happening, we see the tall and slim guard get shorter and fatter: "We are the same!" Other guard: "How's that possible???"

It starts raining. Thankfully, no one points out that this has never happened before here. Back to the couple, and we see the girl is no longer taller and fatter than the guy. This flabbergasts them both. Back to the palace, the scrolls fall to the ground, and Val walks out past the guards: "It's all so bland around here."

Nighttime at Alfea. We hear Musa's sax. We see Musa and Stella's shadows in the dorm. The Griz notices this.

FG: "How are the girls?"
Griz: "It's strange: Musa's playing sad songs and Stella's been brushing her hair for more than an hour."

We fade to a light in the dorm. Amore is holding a flashlight. Turns out that it's not Musa and Stella at all. We see Lockette wearing a pair of stockings on her head to mimic Musa's pigtails, and holding a funnel with a nutcracker to mimic Musa's arms. We see Tune holding another flashlight, and Chatta brushing what looks like a mophead that's she wearing on her head. Amore: "I sure hope this trick works." We pan over to Musa's stereo playing her sax music. You know, this would be a heck of a lot easier if there were a spell to change the pixies to look like the fairies. Oh, wait...

Outside. Apparently, the Wi... fairies aren't going to wait until tomorrow for FG's plan, because the real Musa and Stella are busy getting sneaky. Musa is holding Tecna's device: "Good thing Griselda doesn't know about our Barrier Buster."

Erm, Musa, I think that's kinda impossible, since she caught you breaking curfew with it, and even said (and I quote her exact words) "You will be severely punished." Which raises the question, why didn't the writers just make that the reason they're being told to stay on campus? I can totally see FG saying, "Besides, you're not allowed to go out anyway, because there's still the issue of Griselda's punishment..."

Anyways, we see Musa and Stella use Tecna's device to breach the barrier, before joining the other girls. Who were apparently already outside before Musa used Tecna's device. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Bloom: "Everybody ready?"
Others: "Yeah!"
Bloom: "Then let's go teach Valtor a lesson!"

They run off. Hey, it's hoodie guy again. Well, that's one thing the writers haven't forgotten about...

We wipe to the CT cafeteria. Darcy: "These Valtor-branded witch chicks are starting to annoy me." Icy: "They're so boring." Stormy: "I like them. They're so fun to mess with."

And so, she does: "Attention everyone: Valtor said to mix your jello with your mashed potatoes!"

We see them do this. We hear the Trix laugh. And then Val comes in: "Stop messing with my minions!" Stormy: "Enough of your precious minions... when are you going to show us some of those new spells you've been stealing from other realms?" Val: "Now. Oppositus Power!"

We see Val zap Stormy. Stormy: "You're so cute today. It's so nice to have friends like you." Icy: "That is freaky." Stormy: "Icy sweetheart, I'd like to share something with you: I think I'm in love." (So here the writers are still trying to go the Stormy x Val angle, but they seem to be doing it so half-heartedly. If I were in charge, I'd either throw it out altogether, or play it up more. Heck, I could write a whole post on how I'd change S3...)

Val levitates a bowl of potato jello and places it for Stormy to eat.

Val: "She's not like you Icy. You might just be the perfect witch after all."
Icy: "I guess someone's no longer someone else's favorite. Later goody-goody!"
Darcy: "Yeah, see ya!"

We pan back to Stormy eating her potato jello, before cutting outside where we see a familiar pair of boots and striped socks walking up the walkway. The... uh, fairies are here.

Bloom: "Everybody ready?"
Musa: "Oh, you betcha!" Stella: "Enchantix!"

And with that, we head into a montage of Enchantix transformations. They're awesome as usual.

We hear Bloom say, for the very last time: "Bloom Magic Winx!" And we see, for the very last time, Bloom's regular transformation (in full to boot). And we STILL don't get to see her summon her Charmix, but whatever.

We see the Enchanti (and Bloom) hovering in the air just outside CT's windows. Bloom leads Stella and Layla in throwing magic orbs through the windows.

Bloom: "Okay witches, tell us where Valtor is!"

We see a group shot of the girls, and it becomes apparent that the Enchanti's butterfly wings totally dwarf those of non-Enchantix Bloom's. Anyways, the zombie witches slowly walk towards the fairies: "Must stop intruders..."

Stella: "Should we blast them?"
Flora: "No, wait a second. They have absolutely no idea what they're doing. They're all under Valtor's spell!"

And then they hear a voice from off-screen: "I can help you." Bloom: "Stormy???"

It's just a short distance over to Stormy, but the girls fly over to her anyway. Stormy: "Usually you'll find Valtor either in the headmistress' office or in the sorcery lab." (Er, since when did we ever see Val in the lab?)

Zombie witches: "Traitor. Traitor. Traitor..."
Stormy: "Gosh golly, I was just trying to help."
Musa makes an observation: "She's not her usual self."

Musa flies off, leaving Stormy alone with the zombie witches.

We fade out to Bloom and the Enchanti. All the Enchanti are hovering with their butterfly wings, while Bloom's fairyboots are firmly on the floor as she's having Stella and Layla check the sorcery lab, while she and others are heading to Grif's.

Bloom, Flora and Musa sneak up on Val as he's checking his celestial map: "With the powers of all these worlds, I'll take Magix in no time." Bloom: "Wrong!" Val turns around and immediately blasts the Enchanti escort. Bloom counters back with "Dragon Fury!" and sends Val into the wall.

Val: "You are powerful, Bloom.... just like Marian."
Bloom: "What???"
Val: "Your birth mother, the queen of Domino."
Bloom: "My birth mother! How do you know about her?"
Val: "I defeated her."
Viewers: *gasp*

Once again, chalk up another point on the amnesia board to the writers, since we saw FG telling her about her parents' involvement in defating Val. Then again, that might be deliberate on their part...

And we wipe over to Stella and Layla hiding from zombie witches. Stella: "It looks like Valtor put his mark on everyone at Cloud Tower." And then we hear Grif's voice saying, "Not everyone." We see Grif still in her cell.

Layla: "Miss Griffin! We'll get you out of there."
Grif: "I don't think it's possible. I've tried all my magic to break it open, and I failed every time."
Stella: "Leave it to us!"

With that, she blasts the cell with her sun power. The sun orb sticks to the bars, and then bounces back into Stella, sending her into the wall. "Ouchie!"

Grif: "It's like a mirror spell, it bounces the magic right back at you."

Gee, Stella's Charmix was a handheld mirror, so I wonder...? Meanwhile, it's Layla's turn: "Let's try bending the bars." Layla lobs some Morphix into the bars, and it expands to bend the bars, but ultimately the bars hold their ground, bouncing the Morphix back to Layla and briefly tying her up, but luckily for her, it dissipates.

And back to Bloom and her Enchanti escort, where Val re-explains the whole deal with Bloom's parents leading the Company of Light. Musa: "Magic Bass Boom!" Val easily discards the spell, and adds: "I recently visited a planet where the magic was all about silence." He forms a large blue sphere: "Let me show you a spell I took from them." He puts it on Musa, and, just four episodes later than expected, she finally gets silenced. Flo: "Luxurious Ivy!" Val quickly disposes of Flo's snake-like vine: "And for you, some magic from the cave-dwellers of the Underrealm. They like total darkness." (And yes, this version is using the dub term for the cave from the first arc of S2...) Anyways, Val envelops Flo in some green goo thing. "Not much can survive very long without light." Bloom takes on Val with her fireballs. Val: "So, do you want to fight, or do you want to hear about your parents?" Bloom stops fighting: "I'm listening!" Er, Bloom, are you so sure that you want to trust this guy on what happened to your parents?

Anyways, Val sets up the scene by explaining that he met the two when he was a young wizard with the three witches of the Coven. Then he throws up an orb to show a flashback. Do not adjust your set, it's supposed to be blurry. We see Mom being grabbed by a big hand and dragged into the ground (like FG was during the Alfea siege), Dad running in to save her from the hand and stabbing some kind of protective field with his sword. As Now!Val refers to this as Dad dropping his guard, we see Then!Val blasting them with a spell sending them both to oblivion (his words). Val: "And that's how it all ended for the King and Queen of Domino. I'm glad I could share this story with you."

Of course, this contradicts FG's statement that her parents defeated Val, but instead of taking it all with a grain of salt, Bloom is getting very angry and starts to rev up a VERY powerful spell. You know it's powerful because her hair flies up. Val: "Come on, Bloom show me what you've got! Come on, do it for Domino, do it for your parents Oritel and Marian!"

Bloom casts her anger-fueled superattack, and Val takes advantage of Bloom's anger, and his freshly-obtained Oppositus powers, to freeze Bloom's attack and then the fairy herself, before noting the irony of Domino's last survivor getting done in by her own powers. Ouch. Turns out FG was right about the whole "striking back in anger" thing after all.

Back at Grif's cell. You know how I just mentioned that Stella's Charmix was a handheld mirror? Well, Stella decides, "This calls for some fairy dust!" We're spared the whole "opening the bottle" sequence bit for now, instead just getting a shot of Stella fluttering her wings.

Grif: "I see you girls made progress."
Stella uses her dust to draw a mirror image of the cell: "Yep."
Grif: "I remember when Faragonda got her fairy dust. All my best spells became useless against her."

Oh, so FG has her own fairy dust, too? Normally that would ensure that we'll see it later, but this is Winx S3 we're talking about. Okay, NOW we see the "opening the bottle" bit. After that, we see Stella tap the lock on the mirror image cell, and Grif is free: "Very clever: you broke the Oppositus spell by applying the magic to the wall opposite the bars." Okay, so that had nothing to do with Stella's mirror-based powers, but eh. Here come the Trix.

Icy: "Out of your cell without a hall pass, Griffin? Shame on you." Meanwhile, Stormy is giggling in the background.
Darcy: "Yeah, this calls for some serious disiucpline."
Grif: "Youre right, and to start with, I'm ordering the two of you out of my school!" Er, there are three of them right there?
Icy: "This is our school now. ICE WAVE!"

And you know who's got wave magic? Layla: "I've got this one!"

Layla throws down some Morphix and forms a surfboard: "Enchanted Plasma!" And Layla's surfing is awesome. She uses the surfboard to deflect the Ice Wave back to Icy. Stella blasts the Trix: "Solar Charge!"

Layla: "Well... looks like you witches are done for."
But Stormy isn't giggling anymore: "Look again. Twister Fury!" Stormy sends a tornado to blow the fairies away.

Icy: "Hey, you're back."
Stormy: "Yeah, I dreamt I was eating loads of jello and being disgustingly nice to people. I was so ashamed of myself."
Darcy: "Yeah, you were acting like a dweeb Stormy, but that's because Valtor spelled you."
Stormy: "Well, now that I'm back, let's get these losers and teach them a lesson!"
Grif: "I'm still the headmistress here, and the only thing you're going to get is detention." She casts a spell: "Demeritus!"

And with that, the witches get sucked into a portal. See ya later! Warning: silly pun coming up.

Stella: "Awesome, where'd they go?"
Grif: "My punishment spell sent them to the Detention Dimension."
Stella: "Wow, I sure wouldn't want to misbehave in this school." HEH!

Detention Dimension! The Trix are sitting in front of a blackboard with a talking head. "Now listen up. Write on the blackboard 600 ingredients that can be used in mayhem potions!"

Stormy: "This is humiliating!"
Icy: "I'm not doing it!"
Darcy: "Me neither."

Back at CT, Layla and Stella are hovering right behind Grif (uh, you do know you could just walk?) when suddenly an "unauthorized" portal opens. It's FG and Sal, and the fairies are understandably afraid, since FG's already told them not to leave Alfea. FG: "When we found out you were missing, we figured you'd came here." Stella: "Sorry Faragonda. We couldn't help but try to get payback." Grif: "I really can't say I blame them. Valtor set himself up in my office!" Layla: "Bloom and the others are on their way there right now." Sal: "Well, it looks like the Company of Light is being called back into action!" HEH! FG: "Let's go get Valtor!" We see a blast of light appear behind the teachers, and then they walk down the hall.

The spells on Flora and Musa wear off, and they see Bloom's ice coffin. Flo: "We have to get Bloom out of the ice! She won't last much longer!" Val: "Not going to happen!" Flo: "Let's dust it!" Val, as if to say, "What part didn't you understand?" blasts them with a tornado. Flo: "This wind is too strong! I can't activate my fairy dust!" Musa has a smart idea: "Me neither. Maybe if I shield you..." But we don't get to see this, because then we hear FG say: "Leave my girls alone!" before blasting Val back into the wall.

And hello, The Company of Light. Val blasts them, quipping: "I'd say the Company of Light should be called the Company of Mummies!" The teachers are quite resilient, though, and Grif decides to use a Darcy-like teleportation spell, while Sal gets into position and fires his staff. Er, maybe that wasn't worded too well. By that I mean, he uses his staff to cast a spell. Grif follows, and then FG finishes: "Shield now!" Just like that, a large green wall blocks off Val. FG: "C'mon girls, do your thing!" Stella and Layla join Flora and Musa as they fly over the ice cube, while we see Val throwing spells at the wall with no luck whatsoever. We see purple light glaring out of CT's windows...

And then we flashcut to the Trix's detention. Stormy is writing on the blackboard: "Let's just write this stuff down and get out of here." Icy: "Ugh, no way!" Blackboard: "If you don't comply, your behavior will be reported to the headmistress!" Icy's sarcasm goes off the scale: "Oh no! That's so scary... huh." Darcy: "I have an idea. Check this out." Stormy is agape. Darcy: "Duplication, illusion and deception. Trick us free from this prison of detention."

And with that, we see writing appear on the blackboard. Nifty.

Darcy: "Okay, we've finished our work!"
Icy: "What are we waiting for, let's go!"
Stormy: "Bye-bye, blackboard face!"

The Trix teleport out, and blackboard face sweats at this cheating.

Back to the four girls opening their dust bottles and doing their drawing. The girls swirl around the ice cube.

Stella: "Remember, when we break the spell, the ice will return to its original form, which was fire."
Musa: "So we'll have to duck, and fast!"
FG's starting to strain: "We can't hold the shield much longer..."
We see some cracks are forming in the ice cube. Musa: "Alright, the spell is about to break..."
The same can also be said for the FG shield, though. The wall shatters, but Flora quickly points out that the spell is also gone.

Stella swoops in to take Bloom away from the "steaming" ice and tells the other girls to take cover. The "steam" turns back into Bloom's fire, and several minutes after she cast it, it finally hits Valtor and sends him to the ground.

Musa: "Come on, let's get out of here!"
Bloom: "No, we HAVE to finish him off, for Tecna, for Marian and Oritel."
FG: "Not today, Bloom. Stella, can you move us?"

Val gets up to cast an attack, as Stella teleports by holding up a finger to her mouth: "Transportus... exmobus!"

With the teachers and the Wi... er, fairies, gone, and the Trix returning from detention, Val ends up hitting the witches instead. And because misunderstandings are always funny (read: BLEH!)...

Darcy (crying): "Sorry! Next time we'll write down the dumb ingredients, I promise you!"

Even without considering that Darcy is to some degree omniscient (like how she detected Bloom way back in episode 2)... Seriously, Darcy? Crying? Val? Discouraging cheating? I find these hard to believe.

It's the next morning back at Alfea, and we're in FG's office with FG and Bloom. FG: "There's only one place you can go to become stronger, Bloom. It is called Pyros." Like Val did earlier, FG puts out her own projection orb to show what Pyros is like. In short: dragons. Lots of dragons. FG sez: "The island of dragons. The power you can acquire there is great... but the dangers are severe and your survival is far from certain."

Bloom: "I don't care. Valtor killed my parents and took Tecna from us. It doesn't matter how hard Pyros is, or how dangerous; if it will help me beat Valtor, I'll do it." Yes, she really does use the word "kill" there.
FG: "Hmm."

And FG doesn't even bat an eyelid at Bloom mentioning Valtor killing her parents. You know FG, now might be a good time to tell her if you think Val was lying.

Cut to the Trix. Presumably, that BLEH misunderstanding has been clarified now.

Icy: "Valtor, you gotta chill."
Valtor: "I cannot allow the heir to the throne of Domino to survive!"
Icy: "Hey, how about we go get Bloom for you?"
Darcy: "Yeah. We can take that fairy on our own." I dunno, Darcy, the writing has diminished your powers lately...
Val: "Good. Go, bring her here, then we can destroy her together."

We see the Trix looking smug, as we fade back to FG's office, where Bloom is saying goodbye to Lockette and Kiko: "You two take good care of one another okay?"

Lockette: "If it's too scary on Pyros you can always come back right Bloom?"
Bloom: "No Lockette: I'm either going to come back strong enough to beat Valtor, or I won't come back at all." The possibility of the latter scares Kiko and Lockette quite a bit.
Bloom turns over to FG: "I'm ready Ms. Faragonda."
FG opens a portal that sucks Bloom straight in. As she disappears, FG sez: "Good luck Bloom. I believe in you."

So for now, Bloom's payback against Val has been delayed. Speaking of someone not coming back at all, now we go from payback delayed, to payback CANCELLED, as an RF ship drops in, and for the first time since way back then, we see Sky and Brandon, last seen being sprayed with Stella's fairy dust and getting captured by Diaspro's guards respectively.

Stella: "Well, look what the cat dragged in. How's Diaspro?"
Sky says the words that we never would have expected to actually dread hearing: "She is history. After you guys broke that spell, she was banished from Eraklyon. We will never hear from her again."
Certain Diaspro-sympathetic viewers: "WHA?!"

This is followed by Stella chewing out at Brandon over the lack of phone calls and messages and Brandon saying he had been locked up in a prison, but you know what? You know the writing is terrible when it manages to make such a significant character's final exit (along with a potentially decent plotline) completely anticlimactic. You'd think that someone who was last seen saying "You haven't heard the last of me" would, well, actually return later for her revenge, instead of having such a quiet off-screen final exit. Anyways, so Bloom doesn't have to worry about Di trying to steal her Sky away from her again.

Right now, though, she doesn't know this. She's on Pyros, see, so let's see how Sky will react.

Sky: "I feel so terrible about what happened. I have to apologize to all of you, and especially to Bloom. I have to make it up to her somehow." Too bad you can't make it up to the viewers, no? All this time waiting for Diaspro to make her move, and she gets banished off-screen?
Flo: "Well, Bloom's not here. She's gone."
Stella: "She went on an important mission.
Sky is surprised: "A mission??? But where, and when is she coming back?"
Flo: "She went to Pyros, the island of dragons."
Stella: "And it's not WHEN she's coming back Sky... It's IF!"

And we close on a close-up of flabbergasted Sky. We're flabbergasted, for different reasons.

Critique of the episode

So suddenly Tecna is the glue that held the Winx together, after she didn't do anything of note for 2 1/2 seasons? Yes, I know there's that episode where she suspected Professor Avalon, but she and the girls got a serious disciplining for that, so that doesn't really count in my book.

The writers and animators create a whole new realm for Valtor to plunder, after not bothering to give the characters a reason to visit (and show) Tecna's home realm and its people? Mixed priorities, much? What's next, not visiting Beta Academy?...

Just this episode alone, the writers forget about Stella's pixie-to-fairy spell, the Griz catching the girls weakening the barrier (and the punishment they're supposed to get), and FG talking to Bloom about Val's connection to her parents (although that last one might be deliberate). Let's hope this doesn't become a trend in the writing, eh?

Funny (BLEH!) that for an episode all about revenge, the writers also snuffed out any chance of Diaspro going after Bloom for hers. Di's off-screen banishment reeks of: "Uh-oh, we've only got 13 episodes to tie everything up. What less important plots can we throw away resolve quickly?" The writers seemed to be setting up a later Diaspro revenge against the fairies just a few weeks ago, but then they just realized today that they didn't have room for this subplot, and decided to just cancel it. This isn't even the first time they underutilized Di's beef against Sky and Bloom as a plotline, or even pushed a major Diaspro development off-screen (or don't you remember when Sky told Bloom he broke it off with Diaspro?).

Who would have thought that payback would be such a b!tch... to the viewers?
