In a nutshell: Stella causes much problems for the Winx (she's nosy about Musa's date, and forgets that they're now a sextet), but not as much trouble as a certain witch who's hacking the Alfea simulator... again.
Alfea. FG teaches convergence. Powers can be combined and multiplied. Blah blah blah. It's not as if the girls haven't combined powers before, so why's Bloom asking about it now?
RF. Many Musa photos on the wall, but Riven doesn't live here. UnRiven takes a photo off the wall.
Brief reminder of the last ep as Pally cures the pixies of their homesickness. Kiko gets whacked!... with Tune's umbrella. Nice beds, BTW.
UnRiven drives his hoverbike, and meets Musa. He intros himself as Jared, newspaper reporter from RF. Jared wants to talk with someone who's been through the Alfea simulator. And so, Jared and Musa go out. Jared writes everything she says. (This includes an account of a test she did in the simulator... how many sim exams do these fairies take anyway?) Jared picks flowers. Returning to Alfea, Jared gives them to her, and proposes another date, but Musa would rather remain friends.
Musa runs into Stella and Bloom. They have problems with their homework (which is surprising when we see what it is later). Stella pesters Musa about the date and the guy, and Musa is teed. Bloom thinks she's too nosy.
Evil Guy's Pad. Evil Guy and the Trix want to destroy the fairies before they even have a chance to do convergence, to get even with them for last week.
Class, with homework turn-in. None of the three pairs succeed in opening a box with convergence magic. Tecna uses her palmtop on Flora's hand made of living wood, and it turns out their powers are too different. Musa casts a sound wave onto Layla's rope, and it doesn't work either ("It wasn't exactly a symphony"). Biggest surprise is that Bloom and Stella don't have anything ready (!). And they do know that there are many similarities between their powers.
FG goes on a spiel. Nutshell: Bloom's powers are the Flame of Life (HEY! I thought it was the Dragonfire?). Stella's powers are the Light of Vision or something like that.
Blah blah blah. Point is, Bloom and Stella are the best of friends, and they have similar powers. So if Flora and Tec had a project, why don't Bloom and Stella? (I'm willing to guess that they were paired to practically ensure one of the 3 pairs would succeed, and instead they did the worst. Is there such a thing as being too un-Mary Sue? Because if there is, this is it.)
(For Americans, the two of them say that they were trying to converge their two powers, and then they got into a big fight. Oh, to have been privy to that... FG's spiel is then about how they're supposed to have harmony. I'm bettin' Lori is defending the edit, and I don't blame her. Still... they must have had many options, given the similarity of their powers, and they couldn't pick just one??? In either case, I was wondering how fire and/or light could be used to open a box, and I don't get even the foggiest of an answer. And I do note that none of the other tables had to open a box...)
FG putting the three pairs that failed in a convergence exam tomorrow (is that really a good idea?) while Jared is here to check out the simulator. Meanwhile, Stella says, "The five of us will make a megablast together." Layla runs out sobbing, and Musa is teed off at Stella's error, even though it was 100% unintentional, and follows. Why Layla doesn't just say, "Hey! You left me out!" I dunno. (Americans see Layla running out after Stella suggests a sleepover, and Stella thinks Layla is very sensitive. Does that even make sense? considering that Layla would probably jump at the chance to make new friends? Heck, even Musa doesn't understand why Stella hurt Layla's feelings by making that offer [but she's mad that she did].)
Layla and Musa at some tree. Blah blah Layla feels left out, and Stella may say things she doesn't mean but she's really a nice guy once you get to know her. After Musa tells her that she's part of the group now, Layla says that dancing is her passion, and offers to teach Musa how to dance ("You'll probably learn in 2 seconds flat!"). Bloom follows and proposes a way to give the Winx perfect harmony again: a pajama party.
RF. Jared gets hypnotized by Darcy.
At the pajama party, Stella has a flashback. Who would have thought that: a) Stella was once an pimple-faced ugly duckling, and b) the most handsome prince at school would not be dancing with anyone (read: Stella) at the school prom (taking care of his girlfriend's broken leg)? She looked mighty pissed then, but she treats it as no big deal now.
I'd imagine that there were tons of girls thinking that their opportunity to dance with him suddenly became wide open when she broke her leg, and they'd all be pissed when he didn't pick any of them! Imagines the dialog for that...
Random girl (maybe the resident nerd): There is a chance that he'll just sit next on a chair for the whole evening... Stella: You're kidding me right? Anybody who's anybody wants to dance at the prom, and you don't get more "anybody" than the most handsome prince in the whole school. He's gotta dance with someone. Preferably a princess. RG: Like you? Stella: Yeah, like me.
(Prom night)
RG: What'd I tell you? Stella: I DON'T GET IT! HE'S HANDSOME! HE'S POPULAR! HE'S ROYAL! AND HE'S NOT DANCING?! RG: You're the 10th person who's said something like that tonight...
Okay, enough side tracking, back to the recap. Darcy hacks via Jared. Meanwhile, Stella and Musa discuss Riven. Musa doesn't think that Riven would ever be interested in a tomboy like her, but Stella thinks otherwise. Layla dresses up as a warrior and makes her best "warrior voice" impression, while Stella's talking about Brandon. "And then you fell for him." "Actually, he fell for me!" HEH!
Sim exam. It's supposed to be solving puzzles with convergence in a village. They're walking through a cold forest instead. New!Pally sees the problem and tells them to look for an exit code he just put into the sim. Darcy reveals herself to be responsible as some wolf eats it and turns into a monster, while Jared walks off. They transform and attack. The monster is immune to magic, and cutting off power to the crystals might make them lose their powers. (Wouldn't be Bloom's first time, BTW.) Meanwhile, FG finds Jared has hacked the sim.
The Winx have to fight physical strength with physical strength, by combining their most fundamental powers. (Which sounds very remote considering that Bloom and Stella didn't have even the remotest idea on how to converge their similar powers, but just go along with it, 'kay?) They make a huge humanoid figure with Layla providing a foundation with her magical glue stuff, and FG's spiel comes in handy when Stella gives it an eye (as in vision), and Bloom gives it life. (Meanwhile, Flora gives it vines to hold it up, and Tecna gives it a brain.) Pinko fights the monster. Blah blah, Jared gets dehypnotized. Pinko fights the monster some more, and somehow grabs the exit code it ate. Musa adds her powers much later than the rest when New!Pally tells them that the figure has to say the exit code with them. Done... and done. Monster explodey! FG commends them.
Jared apologizes to Musa and kisses her cheek, while Stella drags Layla into their little circle. Hooray!
