Winx Club: 3x17: In the Snake's Lair

spiderbraidsAlright, been sitting on this one for too long. Previously on Winx Club, we saw Helia in his Specialists uniform for the first time this season (took long enough!), as he and the other Specs plus Bloom's friends, traveled to the Omega Dimension to rescue Tecna, but got beat up by a bunch of prisoners instead. Oh, and Bloom finally got her Enchantix.
We open with yet another one of those nice sweeping shots of the area in front of Alfea, and a shot that pans right to the quad. And hello, Bloom. "Well, good morning Alfea." We see her running up the main staircase to her dorm, then knocking on Stella's door. She's a bit bewildered that she's not here. Repeat with Flora's door, and then Musa's. Bloom slumps on her bed: "Where is everybody? Why is no one here? I sure hope they're okay." We hear a high-pitched voice asking "What about me? I've been waiting and waiting!" Well, hello, Lockette. We see Bloom hugging Lockette, and soon we see the other pixies hugging Bloom as well. "Easy does it. I'm so happy to see all of you guys too." Lockette: "I'm so glad you're back, I was so worried about you." Bloom: "Oh I'm fine but what's happening here? Where is everybody?" Amore and Digit explain the dealie with the others going to rescue Tecna, and we see Bloom race right past Piff (nice reaction!) into the hall, where we see FG and the Griz entering FG's room. Bloom: "Excuse me, Miss Faragonda, I need to speak to you." FG: "Bloom, you're quite the early riser."
Bloom enters FG's room with the others: "Well, I, I'm just back from Pyros, and I find the whole school deserted. What's going on?" Griz: "Well, it is early..." She shows a clock reading just ahead of 6am (that's assuming clocks in Magix run in the same way), adding: "All the students are sound asleep." Bloom: "Not all. Anyway I just wanted to thank you for your advice. Everything on Pyros was" FG: "I know. I heard all about it. Maya, the chief elder of the island of dragons is an old friend of mine. She kept me well informed of the progress you were making." You sure have lots of old friends lying around, FG... Bloom: "Oh... but I" FG: "I'm very proud of you Bloom. You passed the test with flying colors." Bloom: "I was able to grow so much you know, and I got a lot more in touch with my powers, but..." Griz: "Why is there always a 'but'?" HEH! Bloom: "How did I manage to get my Enchantix power without saving anyone from my world?" *sigh* Shouldn't you also be asking the same about Tecna as well? FG: "Bloom, as far as fairies go, you've become quite the phenomenon. A rare exception indeed." We get a "flashback" to her transformation as FG continues: "On Pyros, you used all of your willpower focusing your inner strength. You believed in yourself so strongly that it transformed you. It's as if you willed yourself into an Enchantix." If this is supposed to be a catch-all to also cover Tecna, which I doubt it is... it's not working. I still wanted to see her realm dammit. Griz: "Well done Bloom." Bloom: "Uh... thank you. But there's another important thing I wanted to ask you." We get another flashback to the Timmy scenes last week as Bloom says she was hoping to get permission to leave again. FG: "I suppose you wish to join your friends and assist them in their search for Tecna." Bloom: "Very much." And scene.
We fade in on an RF ship arriving at Alfea. Bloom sees this, and runs out to the quad. And who should come down but Sky? So, this is supposed to be a very emotional moment, Sky meeting Bloom for the first time since Stella unmarked him way back when. So much has happened since then, including the most ridiculously unsatisfying off-screen character exit ever. Let's see how they handle it.
Bloom: "Sky!" Sky: "Hi Bloom."
Bloom: "Well... I'm glad to see that you're okay."
Sky: "Yes, well I'm back to my regular self, and I am now totally free of Diaspro's spell."
And we have a flashback to way back when Stella unmarked him. Seems like such a long time ago, wasn't it?
Sky: "Bloom, I'm really sorry for everything that happened on Eraklyon. Please. Please forgive me."
Bloom: "Sky... it wasn't your fault."
Sky: "I know but, I did hurt you, and I'm so sorry." Bloom: "Mmm..."
Sky: "It was all Diaspro's doing I guess..."
Bloom: "And Valtor's, Sky, really, I thought I had lost you."
Sky: "Bloom, nothing will break us apart ever again."
And the scene ends with them sharing a kiss next to the RF ship. Ahh... Well, I guess they handled it okay, because just about everything I'd expected is in there.
Bench! Sky: "I didn't go to the Omega Dimension because I was on active patrol at Red Fountain. Someone's gotta be there to protect the school. But when I heard you were back Bloom, I asked Codatorta for special permission and..." Bloom giggles, before adding: "And since he's such a sensitive soul, he gave it to you." Bloom hugs Sky as she asks: "Who told you I was back?" Sky: "That would be another sensitive soul." And Amore pops up: "It was me who told him of course! After all, true love deserves every chance." Wow, such an Amore line.
Chatta: "Oh, Amore..."
Amore: "Well, what's wrong with what I just said, Chatta?"
Tune: "Don't you see? You made them blush!" Heh.
Lockette: "Bloom, you can't go to the Omega Dimension all by yourself! That horrible place is way too dangerous!"
Bloom: "Lockette, please. If there's any possiblity of saving Tecna, I have to try."
Lockette: "Yeah, but the Specialists and all the other Winx are already there!"
Bloom: "I know, but they're going to need my help too. Anyway, I'm not going alone, Sky's coming with me."
Lockette: "Now listen Sky, you'd better make sure nothing happens to her okay? Because I dunno..."
Sky: "Don't worry Lockette, I won't leave her side."
Lockette: "That'll make it safer for you!" HEH! and scene.
Omega! We're with the Specialists, stuck in their cell with lots of prisoner-cicles and a thawed prison guard. Brandon: "We've got to break out of this place." We see Helia drawing on the ground: "It's not going to be so easy. Those thugs stand between us and the exit." Brandon: "There's just the three of us, we don't have any weapons, and those guys don't look like reasonable types." Timmy: "They're total barbarians! They've turned the Omega Dimension into their own personal kingdom!" Helia: "It looks like they all broke out of their ice prisons, and then took over this part of the Dimension." Brandon: "Guys, we've got to get out of here and find the girls. Oh man. I sure hope they're okay." We have a panning shot of prisoners doing things, and we have a shot going down a hole, where we see a big orb of light. We take a close look, and we see that Stella has created a light orb around the other Enchanti. "White snake, you won't get us. My sun power will keep you at bay and keep us safe." We see a white snake keeping away from the orb. "I won't let you hurt my friends no matter what. I don't have the strength to fight you off AND keep my friends warm, this cold would finish us all in no time. I can't hold on anymore. I'm exhausted. I can't keep this up forever."
Ice birds. RF ship. And Sky is not in his Specs uniform. Eh? Sky: "Whoa, nice welcoming committee!" Bloom: "Well done Sky, you've managed to leave them all in the dust." Bloom then comments on Omega: "What a horrible place." "Well, this is where the Magic Dimension's worst criminals end up: deep frozen and abandoned." "With no chance of getting out?" "That's right. Anyway, let's prepare for landing."
Flashcut to after they've landed. Bloom and Sky are now in tasty red and black outfits. Yum. Bloom: "Which way should we go? Any idea?" Sky: "We haven't got much choice really..." Insert shot of chasm here. "We have to go down." Bloom points out an alternate route: "Over here, there's sort of a path. Let's try and walk along the cliff." Sky: "Be careful though, we don't know what to expect in this dimension."
We see the two traversing the cliff path, and there's a bit of room to spare on either side. Bloom: "Phew! This is hard, and it feels like it's getting colder down here!" Sky: "Yeah, it's as if this planet had a heart of ice. The deeper we go, the lower the temperature." We hear a hissing sound and Bloom wonders what's making it, and Sky says, "I'd rather not find out. And to that end, I'd suggest we pick up the pace." HEH!
Later, we see Bloom slipping off the path. Sky: "Bloom! Try to grab my hand!" In a thrilling scene, Sky manages (barely) to save Bloom from falling into an ice chasm (again).
Later still, they're staking out near a cave. Sky: "Who's attacking us?" We see a figure in a glowing red suit coming out of the cave, as Sky throws his boomerang. Bloom: "Wait, let's see who it is first!" We get a close up of the glowing dude as the boomerang bounces off a sidewall... and well well well, it's Tecna: "Try that again and I'll wipe you out! I'm serious!" Bloom: "That voice..." Sky: "Have you gone crazy? What are you doing? Get down!" Bloom: "Wait. Listen." Tec: "Alright, you asked for it, but... Bloom? Is that really you?" Bloom: "Tecna! You're alive!" We see a nice emotional scene of Tecna hugging Bloom. Tecna: "I've never been so happy in my life!" Tec wipes a tear before continuing: "I've been through so much here!" Bloom: "C'mon, tell us everything."
Wipe! Sky: "How were you able to survive?" Bloom: "Last we saw you on Andros, you used all your magic energy to close the Omega portal." We get a flashback to this. Tec: "And the moment I did that, I transformed into Enchantix mode, which was a good thing, because I was swept deep into the Omega Dimension. Thanks to my new powers and my technical knowledge, I was able to survive in this place." Bloom: "How'd you get that suit?" Tec: "I made it. It protects me from these ultra low temperatures." And it looks pretty nifty, I might add. :-) "I even managed to turn this ice into nutritious food." Bloom: "Probably better than the food in Alfea's cafeteria." HEH. Tecna: "The planet was full of techno-waste, so I made a weapon and a transmitter." Sky: "And that's how you were able to make contact with Timmy's space probe. Great job Tecna!" Tec: "But on the other hand, my presence here has upset the escapees." Bloom: "What escapees?" Tec: "The convicts who broke out of their ice prisons." Sky: "But those cells are supposed to be escape proof." Tec: "True, but the entire balance of forces was upset when Valtor escaped, and a good number of prisoners got loose." We have a insert of a bunch of pods landing on some icy surface, with the prisoners inside opening them and escaping. Bloom: "How many of them are there?" Tec: "I don't know how many, but definitely enough to organize into these roaming gangs." Sky: "Those guys would be desperate enough to do anything, really." Tec: "And by far they're the most dangerous criminals in the Magic Dimension." Sky: "That means, the others could be in danger." Tec: "They are. Timmy, Helia and Brandon are being held captive in a cave." Sky: "Our guys were taken prisoner??" Tec: "I'm afraid so, and it's not going to be easy to get them out."
Nice scene and all, but you're still missing one important detail: We never saw anyone from Tecna's realm, so why does she have her Enchantix powers?
Anyways, next scene. We see Tecna running "sneakily" on some ice path and hiding behind a rock, where Bloom and Sky are already hiding. Bloom has Sky take care of the guy on guard duty, while she and Tecna will head into the cave. And the plan immediately heads into action, as Tec bolts out and hides behind another rock. Before Bloom follows, we get this dialog:
Sky: "Be careful."
Bloom: "Don't worry. Now that you're finally back there's no way I'm gonna leave you again."
Flora would love this kind of sappy dialog. Anyways, Bloom follows. Then Sky runs out with his boomerang, throws it at the guard, and makes a diving catch. Awesome. Then two more guards come out. One of the gets taken down with the boomerang, and Bloom throws a block on ice on the other one: "Lights out! Sweet dreams!" HEH.
Tecna sneaks by as we see 3 more guards, one of whom decides to go check what's outside. Tecna sneaks behind the wall as the guard who's coming out passes. "Tecna Enchantix!" And Tecna transforms into the mode that she shouldn't have.
And for no real reason at all, Enchantix Tecna pops out of a big flower. I suppose that they're trying to reference this. And oh yeah, the animators forgot her wings here.
Prison guard: "Don't come any closer!" Guard wields what looks like a bunch of fish hooks on strings at Tecna. Tecna casts them back by simply pointing: "No problem." And next thing you know, the guard is now bound to the ground with green digistrings.
Tecna heads over to the cell: "Hey guys, are you alright?" Timmy is very shocked to see Tecna again, and in her Enchantix to boot. Tec: "Just give me a sec, I'll get you out of there!" Tec raises her right hand to cast her spell... but then a guard shows up behind her and slingties her hands first: "Try shooting your magic beams now!" Guard draws Tecna in like a fish on a rod and takes out his knife, but suddenly he's conked out by Sky's boomerang, and Sky says, "Your turn Bloom" as Bloom fires a fireball at the cell. Helia: "Well guys, I've got to admit, your timing is impeccable." Heh. We see Helia hugging Bloom, Sky hugging Brandon, and Timmy hugging Tecna. Helia: "Those thugs called for reinforcements, we'd better get ready for them." Brandon: "Yeah, let's teach them a lesson. But first things first: let's get back our weapons." We see Timmy with his gun and Brandon with his sword. Bloom: "Sky, while you deal with the convicts, Tecna and I will look for the girls. Alright?" Brandon: "Well, I can tell you where we last saw them."
And we fade out to Bloom and Tecna (now back in her warm suit) coming to a cliff. Bloom: "It's freezing out here." Tec: "I hope nothing bad happened to the other Winx." We see Tecna trying to call to the others down the cliff, replete with echo effect. No luck, so... Bloom: "We should go down there." Tec: "Then we'd better transform!" Suddenly, an ice snake knocks them clean off the cliff first. It appears that they manage to grab on to some big ice bridge thing, which the falling snake then takes out along with the girls.
Back to the other Winx, where Stella is still trying to keep them warm and keep the snake away. Layla: "Stella, you're completely exhausted." Flora: "Why don't you try to rest for a little while?" Stella shakes her head: "I can't. If I do it's gonna..." Musa doesn't let Stella finish: "It's okay Stella. Relax." Stella's light orb goes out, and she collapses on to Musa. We see the girls' shadows fade out.
We see an ice snake. We're back with Bloom and Tecna on a cliff. Snake pops up, sending Bloom right to the edge. Tecna: "Let's transform, now!" Bloom: "Yeah, okay." Tecna jumps off the cliff: "Tecna Enchantix!" And hello again, transformation. Enchantix Tecna spars off against the snake. "Hurry up Bloom, I need your helpAAAAA!!!" It appears that one of the Tecna's shots knocks the snake right into Bloom, knocking her off a cliff again. And somehow, Tecna is falling with her too. Once again, the "Enchantix wings are apparently useless when falling backwards" thing rears its ugly head.
Back with the other girls, and the other snake has cornered them. Stella: "The snake's touch is lethal!" Flora: "And we have no way out!" Suddenly, a bright beam appears between the girls and the snake. Looks like Tecna finally remembered to use her wings after all, as she's carrying an unconscious Bloom. The others are glad to see them and Musa asks, "But where did you two come from?" Tec: "I'll tell you later. First, Bloom needs help. I'll keep the snake busy!" We see Tecna flying off, and Musa charging up her fairy dust bottle. We see Musa's sky drawing and the bottle's cap coming off. Musa pours some dust on to Bloom's glove, and Bloom comes to, as we cut to Tecna attacking the snake: "Electric Storm!" She nails two sets of shots dead on, but the snake still keeps going. Flora: "It hasn't stopped the snake." Layla: "Come on, let's hit it again." Musa: "But we have no energy left." Stella: "We have to try. It's our only hope." Bloom: "Go for it girls, you can do it!" Flora: "We're coming Tecna!"
And here we go! We hear Flora say "Green Luxurious Ivy!" We see two vines forming a heart shape around Flora. We hear the other girls call out their attacks at the same time in a splitscreen, so good luck trying to tell what they're saying. (In Italian, the girls say each spell separately and clearly.) We see the girls all attacking the snake. And the attacks don't do a thing, as the snake's breath sends them flying backwards. Tecna: "This is it, we're done for!"
Bloom walks right up to the snake, and then springs up into the air: "Bloom Enchantix!" Flora: "Bloom, you transformed!" Bloom: "Yeah, I guess I did. But it's a long story, I'll tell you later. Right now let's see what this megasnake can do against the Winx, you ready?" Stella: "Yeah, get ready for the Super Winx!" I should note that at this point, Layla's Enchantix outfit is green instead of blue. Better get used to it, 'cause you'll be seeing a LOT more of this version.
We cut back to the Specs doing that which they do best: fighting the prison thugs of Omega. Highlights include Helia glove-slinging one of the thugs and sending him flying and Sky shoving another thug into a rock. Back to the girls, and they're summoning their dust crystals in splitscreen. We see that Bloom's bottle is Maya's vial from last week with a heart shaped frame. Like I said last week, where have we seen that before?
Bloom: "Are you ready?" Others: "Ready!" We see the girls holding together and swirling in a very tight circle. And they're going around really fast. Aren't they going to get dizzy doing that? Anyways, the other girls' attack is Ray of Fairy Dust, and after raining the dust on to the snake, it creates a ring that bounds the snake's mouth. Er... seriously. Bloom: "Everyone get back, I'm gonna give it everything I've got." Bloom flies up into their air, and a bright red dragon forms around her. "Dragon Energy!" The dragon flies headon into the snake, creating a big explosion.
Stella generates a fresh light orb and checks on Bloom. "You alright?" "I think so." Stel checks on the snake. Tec: "It's quiet." Flo: "I think we did it!" The girls are celebrating but Bloom's not convinced. "Wait, Stella, it's not over." Layla: "Huh? What are you talking about?" Musa: "Come on, that snake's history!" Bloom: "No it's not! As soon as I made contact with the snake, I felt something. For a few seconds we shared this intense psychic link, and it communicated with me." (Meanwhile, watch Tecna's wings: they suddenly gain lower parts. Bad animators, no biscuit!) Flo: "And what did the snake tell you?" Bloom: "The white snake is the very essence of this dimension, its heart and main guardian." We see the snake's eyes open. "From its breath flows the ice which covers the entire planet. Without it the Omega Dimension doesn't exist." Stel: "But then, if we haven't defeated it..." Then we see the girls looking horrified, then Bloom saying "Go!"
Hmm, protagonist has psychic link with snake, now where have I heard that before?
Anyhow, we see the girls flying up (Tecna's lower bits are now gone), with the snake in hot pursuit (er, cold pursuit). Musa: "Now it's really angry." Tecna: "And fast. It's catching up with us!" We see some more flying... and then Bloom flies back down. Bloom: "Hey, I have an idea. You girls go and find the guys!" Flora: "Bloom, what in the world are you talking about?" Bloom: "Trust me Flora, this might be our only chance. Now go!" Looks like Bloom has the snake chase her. This better be a good idea, Bloom.
Back to the Specs. Brandon and Sky are surrounded by thugs. "Oh man this doesn't look good. What now Sky?" "We don't have a choice. Just keep fighting!" "Easier said than done." We see Brandon and Sky swinging the thugs away, while in the background, things aren't looking good for Timmy and Helia. Cut back to Bloom. "C'mon now, just a little longer..." The snake tries to hit Bloom with its breath and misses.
Back to the thugs. The thugs are all suddenly looking in the same direction. The Specs are catching their breath, and soon Sky turns in the other direction. The ground splits open, and here comes Bloom! And the snake, too. For some reason, once the snake is free of the underground, it just stops going up, and it falls onto the ground where the thugs are. The thugs scatter quickly as the snake uses its breath on them. The Specs are safely behind a rock. Brandon: "Alright! Woo-hoo!" Sky walks over and we see that Bloom has now de-transformed, as she comes over to hug Sky. We get a shot of the thugs trying to get away from the snake and its breath. Bloom and Sky watch this for a bit before Bloom says, "Alright, let's get out of here."
Specs' ships. Apparently, Sky has parked his ship next to that of the others. We see that the other fairies are also back in their casuals (and that includes Tecna, and don't ask me where she kept her casuals all this time). Bloom kneels down on the ground and picks up what appears to be a few ice crystals and puts them in her dust bottle: "I'm gonna take some of this place with me." One, how can she have that bottle when it's specific to her Enchantix form and she's in her casuals? And two, doesn't that run the risk of contaminating the fairy dust or something? You'd think that would be plot important at some point, but I don't remember it ever being such. Bloom then boards Sky's ship with Sky and we see it take off.
Bloom explains: "Every world has its balance, and so in the Omega Dimension it is the white snake who maintains the order." We see that Stella and Brandon are on board with Bloom and Sky. Stella: "You know, I have no idea what Magix's balance is, and frankly I don't really care. I just can't wait to get back there." We see them share a nice laugh, as we fade out to...
Alfea at night, as we zoom right to the girls' dorm, where for the first time since Andros, the girls are six again (and in even more tasty outfits, too). Musa: "Girls, our team is once again united!" Others: "Winx!" The pixies are there too. Stella glides on her chair and grabs a pillow. Amore follows her, and it seems she looks a bit disgusted.
Stella: "And now, if you're not too tired, we're going to have a party!" Layla: "What, us tired? Pajama party here we come!" We see Musa and Stella run out of Stella's bedroom as Digit and Tune look on. Musa and Stella have a pillow fight on one of the sofas. Stella: "Bring it on! I'm not afraid of you, I'm a Winx!" And Stella gets clobbered. That's what you get for posturing, Stella! Musa: "Oh yeah? And take that!" They giggle on the sofa as we pan over to Bloom and Flora on a bed. Bloom: "I'd let to spend some time with Sky. We could go to Sudi Lake together." Flora: "Oh, I can already hear the soundtrack!" Flora does wedding music (you know, "Here Comes the Bride" and all that). Bloom: "Flora, stop it." Then she lightly smothers Flora with a pillow. Bloom: "And what about Helia?" Flora: "Well..." But we don't get to hear what Flora has to say about him since we cut to another outside pan of Alfea, and considering that Helia's had easily the least screen time of any of the guys this season, that's a bit lame. And scene.

Sky: "Bloom, I'm really sorry for everything that happened on Eraklyon. Please. Please forgive me."
Bloom: "Sky... it wasn't your fault."
Sky: "I know but, I did hurt you, and I'm so sorry." Bloom: "Mmm..."
Sky: "It was all Diaspro's doing I guess..."
Bloom: "And Valtor's, Sky, really, I thought I had lost you."
Sky: "Bloom, nothing will break us apart ever again."
And the scene ends with them sharing a kiss next to the RF ship. Ahh... Well, I guess they handled it okay, because just about everything I'd expected is in there.
Bench! Sky: "I didn't go to the Omega Dimension because I was on active patrol at Red Fountain. Someone's gotta be there to protect the school. But when I heard you were back Bloom, I asked Codatorta for special permission and..." Bloom giggles, before adding: "And since he's such a sensitive soul, he gave it to you." Bloom hugs Sky as she asks: "Who told you I was back?" Sky: "That would be another sensitive soul." And Amore pops up: "It was me who told him of course! After all, true love deserves every chance." Wow, such an Amore line.
Chatta: "Oh, Amore..."
Amore: "Well, what's wrong with what I just said, Chatta?"
Tune: "Don't you see? You made them blush!" Heh.
Lockette: "Bloom, you can't go to the Omega Dimension all by yourself! That horrible place is way too dangerous!"
Bloom: "Lockette, please. If there's any possiblity of saving Tecna, I have to try."
Lockette: "Yeah, but the Specialists and all the other Winx are already there!"
Bloom: "I know, but they're going to need my help too. Anyway, I'm not going alone, Sky's coming with me."
Lockette: "Now listen Sky, you'd better make sure nothing happens to her okay? Because I dunno..."
Sky: "Don't worry Lockette, I won't leave her side."
Lockette: "That'll make it safer for you!" HEH! and scene.
Omega! We're with the Specialists, stuck in their cell with lots of prisoner-cicles and a thawed prison guard. Brandon: "We've got to break out of this place." We see Helia drawing on the ground: "It's not going to be so easy. Those thugs stand between us and the exit." Brandon: "There's just the three of us, we don't have any weapons, and those guys don't look like reasonable types." Timmy: "They're total barbarians! They've turned the Omega Dimension into their own personal kingdom!" Helia: "It looks like they all broke out of their ice prisons, and then took over this part of the Dimension." Brandon: "Guys, we've got to get out of here and find the girls. Oh man. I sure hope they're okay." We have a panning shot of prisoners doing things, and we have a shot going down a hole, where we see a big orb of light. We take a close look, and we see that Stella has created a light orb around the other Enchanti. "White snake, you won't get us. My sun power will keep you at bay and keep us safe." We see a white snake keeping away from the orb. "I won't let you hurt my friends no matter what. I don't have the strength to fight you off AND keep my friends warm, this cold would finish us all in no time. I can't hold on anymore. I'm exhausted. I can't keep this up forever."
Ice birds. RF ship. And Sky is not in his Specs uniform. Eh? Sky: "Whoa, nice welcoming committee!" Bloom: "Well done Sky, you've managed to leave them all in the dust." Bloom then comments on Omega: "What a horrible place." "Well, this is where the Magic Dimension's worst criminals end up: deep frozen and abandoned." "With no chance of getting out?" "That's right. Anyway, let's prepare for landing."
Flashcut to after they've landed. Bloom and Sky are now in tasty red and black outfits. Yum. Bloom: "Which way should we go? Any idea?" Sky: "We haven't got much choice really..." Insert shot of chasm here. "We have to go down." Bloom points out an alternate route: "Over here, there's sort of a path. Let's try and walk along the cliff." Sky: "Be careful though, we don't know what to expect in this dimension."
We see the two traversing the cliff path, and there's a bit of room to spare on either side. Bloom: "Phew! This is hard, and it feels like it's getting colder down here!" Sky: "Yeah, it's as if this planet had a heart of ice. The deeper we go, the lower the temperature." We hear a hissing sound and Bloom wonders what's making it, and Sky says, "I'd rather not find out. And to that end, I'd suggest we pick up the pace." HEH!
Later, we see Bloom slipping off the path. Sky: "Bloom! Try to grab my hand!" In a thrilling scene, Sky manages (barely) to save Bloom from falling into an ice chasm (again).
Later still, they're staking out near a cave. Sky: "Who's attacking us?" We see a figure in a glowing red suit coming out of the cave, as Sky throws his boomerang. Bloom: "Wait, let's see who it is first!" We get a close up of the glowing dude as the boomerang bounces off a sidewall... and well well well, it's Tecna: "Try that again and I'll wipe you out! I'm serious!" Bloom: "That voice..." Sky: "Have you gone crazy? What are you doing? Get down!" Bloom: "Wait. Listen." Tec: "Alright, you asked for it, but... Bloom? Is that really you?" Bloom: "Tecna! You're alive!" We see a nice emotional scene of Tecna hugging Bloom. Tecna: "I've never been so happy in my life!" Tec wipes a tear before continuing: "I've been through so much here!" Bloom: "C'mon, tell us everything."
Wipe! Sky: "How were you able to survive?" Bloom: "Last we saw you on Andros, you used all your magic energy to close the Omega portal." We get a flashback to this. Tec: "And the moment I did that, I transformed into Enchantix mode, which was a good thing, because I was swept deep into the Omega Dimension. Thanks to my new powers and my technical knowledge, I was able to survive in this place." Bloom: "How'd you get that suit?" Tec: "I made it. It protects me from these ultra low temperatures." And it looks pretty nifty, I might add. :-) "I even managed to turn this ice into nutritious food." Bloom: "Probably better than the food in Alfea's cafeteria." HEH. Tecna: "The planet was full of techno-waste, so I made a weapon and a transmitter." Sky: "And that's how you were able to make contact with Timmy's space probe. Great job Tecna!" Tec: "But on the other hand, my presence here has upset the escapees." Bloom: "What escapees?" Tec: "The convicts who broke out of their ice prisons." Sky: "But those cells are supposed to be escape proof." Tec: "True, but the entire balance of forces was upset when Valtor escaped, and a good number of prisoners got loose." We have a insert of a bunch of pods landing on some icy surface, with the prisoners inside opening them and escaping. Bloom: "How many of them are there?" Tec: "I don't know how many, but definitely enough to organize into these roaming gangs." Sky: "Those guys would be desperate enough to do anything, really." Tec: "And by far they're the most dangerous criminals in the Magic Dimension." Sky: "That means, the others could be in danger." Tec: "They are. Timmy, Helia and Brandon are being held captive in a cave." Sky: "Our guys were taken prisoner??" Tec: "I'm afraid so, and it's not going to be easy to get them out."
Nice scene and all, but you're still missing one important detail: We never saw anyone from Tecna's realm, so why does she have her Enchantix powers?
Anyways, next scene. We see Tecna running "sneakily" on some ice path and hiding behind a rock, where Bloom and Sky are already hiding. Bloom has Sky take care of the guy on guard duty, while she and Tecna will head into the cave. And the plan immediately heads into action, as Tec bolts out and hides behind another rock. Before Bloom follows, we get this dialog:
Sky: "Be careful."
Bloom: "Don't worry. Now that you're finally back there's no way I'm gonna leave you again."
Flora would love this kind of sappy dialog. Anyways, Bloom follows. Then Sky runs out with his boomerang, throws it at the guard, and makes a diving catch. Awesome. Then two more guards come out. One of the gets taken down with the boomerang, and Bloom throws a block on ice on the other one: "Lights out! Sweet dreams!" HEH.
Tecna sneaks by as we see 3 more guards, one of whom decides to go check what's outside. Tecna sneaks behind the wall as the guard who's coming out passes. "Tecna Enchantix!" And Tecna transforms into the mode that she shouldn't have.
And for no real reason at all, Enchantix Tecna pops out of a big flower. I suppose that they're trying to reference this. And oh yeah, the animators forgot her wings here.
Prison guard: "Don't come any closer!" Guard wields what looks like a bunch of fish hooks on strings at Tecna. Tecna casts them back by simply pointing: "No problem." And next thing you know, the guard is now bound to the ground with green digistrings.
Tecna heads over to the cell: "Hey guys, are you alright?" Timmy is very shocked to see Tecna again, and in her Enchantix to boot. Tec: "Just give me a sec, I'll get you out of there!" Tec raises her right hand to cast her spell... but then a guard shows up behind her and slingties her hands first: "Try shooting your magic beams now!" Guard draws Tecna in like a fish on a rod and takes out his knife, but suddenly he's conked out by Sky's boomerang, and Sky says, "Your turn Bloom" as Bloom fires a fireball at the cell. Helia: "Well guys, I've got to admit, your timing is impeccable." Heh. We see Helia hugging Bloom, Sky hugging Brandon, and Timmy hugging Tecna. Helia: "Those thugs called for reinforcements, we'd better get ready for them." Brandon: "Yeah, let's teach them a lesson. But first things first: let's get back our weapons." We see Timmy with his gun and Brandon with his sword. Bloom: "Sky, while you deal with the convicts, Tecna and I will look for the girls. Alright?" Brandon: "Well, I can tell you where we last saw them."
And we fade out to Bloom and Tecna (now back in her warm suit) coming to a cliff. Bloom: "It's freezing out here." Tec: "I hope nothing bad happened to the other Winx." We see Tecna trying to call to the others down the cliff, replete with echo effect. No luck, so... Bloom: "We should go down there." Tec: "Then we'd better transform!" Suddenly, an ice snake knocks them clean off the cliff first. It appears that they manage to grab on to some big ice bridge thing, which the falling snake then takes out along with the girls.
Back to the other Winx, where Stella is still trying to keep them warm and keep the snake away. Layla: "Stella, you're completely exhausted." Flora: "Why don't you try to rest for a little while?" Stella shakes her head: "I can't. If I do it's gonna..." Musa doesn't let Stella finish: "It's okay Stella. Relax." Stella's light orb goes out, and she collapses on to Musa. We see the girls' shadows fade out.
We see an ice snake. We're back with Bloom and Tecna on a cliff. Snake pops up, sending Bloom right to the edge. Tecna: "Let's transform, now!" Bloom: "Yeah, okay." Tecna jumps off the cliff: "Tecna Enchantix!" And hello again, transformation. Enchantix Tecna spars off against the snake. "Hurry up Bloom, I need your helpAAAAA!!!" It appears that one of the Tecna's shots knocks the snake right into Bloom, knocking her off a cliff again. And somehow, Tecna is falling with her too. Once again, the "Enchantix wings are apparently useless when falling backwards" thing rears its ugly head.
Back with the other girls, and the other snake has cornered them. Stella: "The snake's touch is lethal!" Flora: "And we have no way out!" Suddenly, a bright beam appears between the girls and the snake. Looks like Tecna finally remembered to use her wings after all, as she's carrying an unconscious Bloom. The others are glad to see them and Musa asks, "But where did you two come from?" Tec: "I'll tell you later. First, Bloom needs help. I'll keep the snake busy!" We see Tecna flying off, and Musa charging up her fairy dust bottle. We see Musa's sky drawing and the bottle's cap coming off. Musa pours some dust on to Bloom's glove, and Bloom comes to, as we cut to Tecna attacking the snake: "Electric Storm!" She nails two sets of shots dead on, but the snake still keeps going. Flora: "It hasn't stopped the snake." Layla: "Come on, let's hit it again." Musa: "But we have no energy left." Stella: "We have to try. It's our only hope." Bloom: "Go for it girls, you can do it!" Flora: "We're coming Tecna!"
And here we go! We hear Flora say "Green Luxurious Ivy!" We see two vines forming a heart shape around Flora. We hear the other girls call out their attacks at the same time in a splitscreen, so good luck trying to tell what they're saying. (In Italian, the girls say each spell separately and clearly.) We see the girls all attacking the snake. And the attacks don't do a thing, as the snake's breath sends them flying backwards. Tecna: "This is it, we're done for!"
Bloom walks right up to the snake, and then springs up into the air: "Bloom Enchantix!" Flora: "Bloom, you transformed!" Bloom: "Yeah, I guess I did. But it's a long story, I'll tell you later. Right now let's see what this megasnake can do against the Winx, you ready?" Stella: "Yeah, get ready for the Super Winx!" I should note that at this point, Layla's Enchantix outfit is green instead of blue. Better get used to it, 'cause you'll be seeing a LOT more of this version.
We cut back to the Specs doing that which they do best: fighting the prison thugs of Omega. Highlights include Helia glove-slinging one of the thugs and sending him flying and Sky shoving another thug into a rock. Back to the girls, and they're summoning their dust crystals in splitscreen. We see that Bloom's bottle is Maya's vial from last week with a heart shaped frame. Like I said last week, where have we seen that before?
Bloom: "Are you ready?" Others: "Ready!" We see the girls holding together and swirling in a very tight circle. And they're going around really fast. Aren't they going to get dizzy doing that? Anyways, the other girls' attack is Ray of Fairy Dust, and after raining the dust on to the snake, it creates a ring that bounds the snake's mouth. Er... seriously. Bloom: "Everyone get back, I'm gonna give it everything I've got." Bloom flies up into their air, and a bright red dragon forms around her. "Dragon Energy!" The dragon flies headon into the snake, creating a big explosion.
Stella generates a fresh light orb and checks on Bloom. "You alright?" "I think so." Stel checks on the snake. Tec: "It's quiet." Flo: "I think we did it!" The girls are celebrating but Bloom's not convinced. "Wait, Stella, it's not over." Layla: "Huh? What are you talking about?" Musa: "Come on, that snake's history!" Bloom: "No it's not! As soon as I made contact with the snake, I felt something. For a few seconds we shared this intense psychic link, and it communicated with me." (Meanwhile, watch Tecna's wings: they suddenly gain lower parts. Bad animators, no biscuit!) Flo: "And what did the snake tell you?" Bloom: "The white snake is the very essence of this dimension, its heart and main guardian." We see the snake's eyes open. "From its breath flows the ice which covers the entire planet. Without it the Omega Dimension doesn't exist." Stel: "But then, if we haven't defeated it..." Then we see the girls looking horrified, then Bloom saying "Go!"
Hmm, protagonist has psychic link with snake, now where have I heard that before?
Anyhow, we see the girls flying up (Tecna's lower bits are now gone), with the snake in hot pursuit (er, cold pursuit). Musa: "Now it's really angry." Tecna: "And fast. It's catching up with us!" We see some more flying... and then Bloom flies back down. Bloom: "Hey, I have an idea. You girls go and find the guys!" Flora: "Bloom, what in the world are you talking about?" Bloom: "Trust me Flora, this might be our only chance. Now go!" Looks like Bloom has the snake chase her. This better be a good idea, Bloom.
Back to the Specs. Brandon and Sky are surrounded by thugs. "Oh man this doesn't look good. What now Sky?" "We don't have a choice. Just keep fighting!" "Easier said than done." We see Brandon and Sky swinging the thugs away, while in the background, things aren't looking good for Timmy and Helia. Cut back to Bloom. "C'mon now, just a little longer..." The snake tries to hit Bloom with its breath and misses.
Back to the thugs. The thugs are all suddenly looking in the same direction. The Specs are catching their breath, and soon Sky turns in the other direction. The ground splits open, and here comes Bloom! And the snake, too. For some reason, once the snake is free of the underground, it just stops going up, and it falls onto the ground where the thugs are. The thugs scatter quickly as the snake uses its breath on them. The Specs are safely behind a rock. Brandon: "Alright! Woo-hoo!" Sky walks over and we see that Bloom has now de-transformed, as she comes over to hug Sky. We get a shot of the thugs trying to get away from the snake and its breath. Bloom and Sky watch this for a bit before Bloom says, "Alright, let's get out of here."
Specs' ships. Apparently, Sky has parked his ship next to that of the others. We see that the other fairies are also back in their casuals (and that includes Tecna, and don't ask me where she kept her casuals all this time). Bloom kneels down on the ground and picks up what appears to be a few ice crystals and puts them in her dust bottle: "I'm gonna take some of this place with me." One, how can she have that bottle when it's specific to her Enchantix form and she's in her casuals? And two, doesn't that run the risk of contaminating the fairy dust or something? You'd think that would be plot important at some point, but I don't remember it ever being such. Bloom then boards Sky's ship with Sky and we see it take off.
Bloom explains: "Every world has its balance, and so in the Omega Dimension it is the white snake who maintains the order." We see that Stella and Brandon are on board with Bloom and Sky. Stella: "You know, I have no idea what Magix's balance is, and frankly I don't really care. I just can't wait to get back there." We see them share a nice laugh, as we fade out to...
Alfea at night, as we zoom right to the girls' dorm, where for the first time since Andros, the girls are six again (and in even more tasty outfits, too). Musa: "Girls, our team is once again united!" Others: "Winx!" The pixies are there too. Stella glides on her chair and grabs a pillow. Amore follows her, and it seems she looks a bit disgusted.
Stella: "And now, if you're not too tired, we're going to have a party!" Layla: "What, us tired? Pajama party here we come!" We see Musa and Stella run out of Stella's bedroom as Digit and Tune look on. Musa and Stella have a pillow fight on one of the sofas. Stella: "Bring it on! I'm not afraid of you, I'm a Winx!" And Stella gets clobbered. That's what you get for posturing, Stella! Musa: "Oh yeah? And take that!" They giggle on the sofa as we pan over to Bloom and Flora on a bed. Bloom: "I'd let to spend some time with Sky. We could go to Sudi Lake together." Flora: "Oh, I can already hear the soundtrack!" Flora does wedding music (you know, "Here Comes the Bride" and all that). Bloom: "Flora, stop it." Then she lightly smothers Flora with a pillow. Bloom: "And what about Helia?" Flora: "Well..." But we don't get to hear what Flora has to say about him since we cut to another outside pan of Alfea, and considering that Helia's had easily the least screen time of any of the guys this season, that's a bit lame. And scene.
