Winx Club: The first Nick special (part 4)

spiderbraids"Revenge of the Trix" is tonight, but first some unfinished business...
Okay, so the Trix come across Riven knocked out in the hallway. Darcy: "Interesting... this guy has a very strong negative force. He's on a level with us. What do you think?" Stormy: "I'm not impressed. And you're wasting time." Icy: "I think that he could be useful, but not yet. Let's think about it a little later."
Back with the monster. Bloom: "We've got to do something! The monster's beating them to a pulp!" Tec: "We don't have anything to fight with!" Stella: "Look what I found." Stella has brought the buckets and brooms. Bloom: "And I know just what to do with it!" We see Sky and Timmy get flung into the wall and Brandon trying to crawl to safety. The Winx are busy hitting the buckets to get the monster's attention. The monster comes running, knocking the buckets over like bowling pins. The girls run, and Bloom has a bottle of floor soap with her. Bloom and Musa soap up the floor, sending the monster flying straight into the floor at the bottom. Good work, girls :-)
Winx and Specs looking at the monster. Bloom: "What if there are more of them?" Tec: "We have got to figure out what's going on here." Stella: "I'd say this is a special gift from the Trix R Us company." Bloom: "Let's go to Miss Faragonda's office. If we use her crystal ball, then maybe we can see what's actually happening in Alfea." Flo: "But that wouldn't be right. We can't go into Faragonda's office if she isn't in there." Tec: "That's true. It's strictly against the rules." Bloom: "Yeah, but right now we're the only ones who can do anything to protect our school!"
Winx and Specs walking in the outside walkways and arriving at Faragonda's office. Stella: "I'm uncomfortable with this." We see the Trix and their vacuums getting close. Riven: "We're not alone." Flo: "What if it's another monster?" Musa: "What do we do?" Bloom: "Let's hide."
Icy enters: "That's strange, the vacuums indicate that the greatest power in all of Magix is in this room. But I don't see anything. I guess we'll just have to trash the place and search every nook and cranny until we find what we want." Bloom: "I don't think so." Riven turns on the lights: "Hello." Icy: "What are you doing here?" Bloom: "No, what are you three doing here?" FG enters: "Just what I was going to ask all of you. Up until a moment ago I thought this was my office." Bloom: "I know it looks bad but we can explain."
One explanation later, we see the girls saying goodbye to the Specs. Riven: "The next time you girls have a party, don't invite me!" This rather incenses Musa. The Specs fly off with the monster in tow, as FG adds: "I must remember to thank Director Saladin for the help his students gave us here tonight." FG turns her attention to the Trix: "And as for you three young witches, I must tell you that your behavior this evening is totally unacceptable in every way." The Trix look teed. "I will be communicating with Ms. Griffin immediately. I trust you will be disciplined accordingly. Goodbye girls." FG snaps them back to CT. Griz: "And now it's your turn!"
FG in her office with the Winx: "Now, I've looked at the situation as a whole, so, I will not reprimand you." Girls sigh in relief. "This evening's events have shown that you can handle difficult situations intelligently, creatively, and without magic. So I'll give you back your powers. You have acquitted yourselves admirably." That she does.
Redundant V/O lady: "The next morning at the Alfea College for Fairies..." Bloom is in her bed (with a pizza box under it). Bloom is having a dream about walking in a lake and hearing a voice asking: "Do you remember me? Do you know my voice?" Sounds like episode 8. Bloom then encounters a brightly glowing girl much larger than her. Brightly glowing girl asks Bloom: "Come to me and remember." Bloom: "Remember? What do I have to remember?" Dream fades away to reveal Flo: "That today is our first time in the simulator maybe?" So just like that, we've moved on to episode 10? Hmm... Flo: "Today's a big day. The simulator's a real challenge." Bloom: "I'm ready. I just wish I could really use my powers, be a real fairy." Flo: "You'll be fine, Bloom. When you need your powers they'll be there." We see Kiko jumping into Bloom's bag, which Bloom then takes with her.
And hello, Prof. Palladium. He's in his S2 evolved form, and has a slightly deeper voice that he had in either previous dub. "For this task, you'll have to cast spells in a virtual place. Now who of you wants to go first?" Musa: "Stella, you always like to go first." Stella: "Not this time." Pally: "Just as I thought. I'll choose a volunteer." Okay, but then she wouldn't exactly be a volunteer... A couple moments later, he chooses Bloom. Pally: "You can choose the environment. Which one would you like?" Bloom: "I was thinking of a desolate environment... the most desolate possible." Pally: "Okay, there's a place called Domino. Now remember your task is to try and improve it. As soon as you enter the simulation room, Domino will materialize around you." Bloom: "Yeah. Oh, my backpack, can I take it with me?" Pally: "Of course, take whatever you need." Pally opens the door: "There Bloom. You will have 30 minutes. I'll be at the computer room controlling everything. Now do your best." Bloom: "I will." Musa: "Good luck." Flo: "You'll do great!" Stella: "Have a good time!" Tec: "Don't mess up!" Stella: "What kind of encouragement is that?" Tecna: "The mostlogicalrational kind." Bloom: "Thanks Winx. See ya."
We get better effects for the Domino simulation appearing. Bloom: "It would be easier if only I could transform into a fairy." In the original script, Bloom never had these issues since by this point, she'd already transformed several times, so I somewhat question this change...
Anyways, Bloom is surprised to find Kiko in her bag. Bloom: "Now you be a good bunny okay? I have a lot to do here." Bloom takes out a seed packet and pours it on the ground: "I'll start with a few seeds... and see if I can make them grow." Redundant V/O lady: "Meanwhile, at Cloud Tower, the College for Witches..." We see the Trix decide to visit the simulator to see if Bloom's got the power they're looking for, and use the vacuums for this. Back in the simulator, Bloom's plants are starting to grow... and suddenly, here come the Trix. Pally: "They shouldn't be able to enter the simulation. And the controls aren't responding." We hear alarms going off.
Icy: "Hey there junior fairy." Bloom: "The Trix! What are you doing here?" Darcy: "We just thought we'd drop in, and give you a little encouragement. Good luck!" Darcy throws a spell at Bloom and Bloom somersaults out of the way. Stormy cracks the ground: "ENJOY!" Her spell throws Bloom down on the ground... somehow. Bloom: "I've really had it with you girls!" Icy: "Oh, look what we found... a bunny!" Kiko is standing on a lone rock column surrounded by lava. Looks like they're going through this real fast. Icy: "But rabbits are vermin, so let's get rid of it." And smash! Casual Bloom dives in after Kiko, prompting Icy to say: "I guess she really loves that rabbit."
Back in the controller room, the Winx are telling Pally to do something.
Simulator. We see a really big explosion happening and a dragon being released. We then get Bloom's "first" transformation. As with the others', it's more reminiscent of S4's transformations than S1. We hear the Trix cackle and we then see the other Winx gawk at Bloom's fairy outfit, a light blue outfit with a tiara in her hair. She flings a spell straight at the Trix. Back at CT, the Trix re-materialize in one of their classrooms. Icy declares: "It is Bloom. She has the power of the Dragon Flame. We have found it, and it will be ours! (cackles)"
Simulator. Bloom wakes up back in her casuals, and she's looking for Kiko. Unlike in the original script, there aren't several glitched clones of bunnies for her to go through. Kiko's sleeping behind a rock. He wakes up and hops over to Bloom, who hugs him in relief. Pally: "I must get Bloom out of there immediately. Fixit mallum!" The simulator returns to normal, and everyone goes in. Pally congratulates Bloom on a job well done, and everyone else rushes in to throw her in the air (though they wisely cut out the whole deal with the simulator being damaged and class getting postponed). Bloom: "I am a fairy!" And with that, we come to the end of the first special.
For this segment, the most important change to the story is that Bloom hasn't transformed by the time of her simulation test. On one hand, from a dramatic standpoint, it probably does make sense to have Bloom's first transformation to come during an important class, but on the other hand, something about this change just feels off... Overall though, despite the inherent issues with condensing the story, I'd say this was a decent introduction to the Winx, though I'm hoping that the full episodes from the first two seasons might get a redub someday, if only to see how they'd handle it.
Based on the trailer for tonight's "Revenge of the Trix" special, we're getting scenes from at least episodes 9, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18. Should make for a pretty tight special.
