Winx Club: Revenge of the Trix (Part 4)
Sep. 17th, 2011 10:17 pmThe "Battle for Magix" is tomorrow at noon, but first, let's get this out of the way...
Back at Alfea, Bloom is packing her bags. Again. "I made a complete fool of myself! In front of everybody in Magix! And Sky, I thought maybe... but he's with Diaspro." Bloom pets Kiko's head: "I can't stay here." Kiko looks sad, while Bloom goes over to her door to take one last look at the other Winx: "I'm sorry." Instead of going out through the front door, Bloom decides to use her magic on one of Flora's trees to carry her out the window. "Time to go, Kiko..." We get a slow jam about saying goodbye as the background music, as Bloom takes one last look at Alfea before going out the main gate and waiting for the bus. She rides the bus to the main town, and walking through town, she has visions of her friends hanging out at a cafe, her friends sitting at a fountain, and Flora and Stella peeking behind a column. Bloom: "I'm really gonna miss you guys."
From some store (or whatever), Stormy sees Bloom walking past the storefront and turning into an alley. She peeks behind a column to see Bloom say: "Goodbye Magix", as she disappears (along with Kiko and her bags) in a flash of light. We see Stormy talking about it at their non-CT hangout. Icy: "She wimped out, how utterly perfect." Darcy: "I hear Gardenia's lovely this time of year..." Huh, are they even supposed to know she's from Gardenia? (Then again, I suppose Darcy could have gotten it from Riven...)
Anyways, back to Gardenia, and Bloom's house. Mike: "It's alright Bloom, you don't need to explain anything. You've made your choice and we respect your decision." Bloom: "I hope I haven't disappointed you." Vanessa: "Oh Bloom, as long as you are truly yourself, you will never disappoint us." Bloom: "Thank you mom and dad."
Later that night, Bloom is lying in her bed reading her book on fairies, when she hears a loud cry from downstairs. Icy: "Surprise!" We see that the Trix have tied up Bloom's parents and are holding them above a big hole. Mike: "Bloom! Get out of here!" Bloom: "Mom! Dad! (to Trix) Why are you doing this to us? What do you want from me?!" Stormy: "You actually don't know, do you?!" Bloom: "Leave my parents alone!" Icy throws them in the hole: "Say goodbye!" Bloom: "NO-o-o! Bloom! Magic Winx! Charmix!" You know, I really don't like that name too much... Bloom flies down the hole as fast as she can, as we see tears streaming off her face. Bloom grabs her tied-up parents by the rope wrap, and flies them out the hole. Icy: "Really? You ridiculous fairy!" Icy zaps Bloom, knocking her and her parents into the wall. Bloom tries to get up, but is quickly zapped by Darcy. Stormy fires a few more shots at her for good measure.
Icy: "Give it up Bloom, you're struggling in vain!" Bloom: "What do you want?!" Icy: "We're here for your power: The power of the Dragon Flame!" We alternate between the current scene and a yellow-toned flashback with the ancestors and Daphne. Icy: "Our ancestors found the source of the greatest power in the Magic Dimension. It was in you, Bloom. But then that meddler, your insufferable sister Daphne..." Bloom: "Daphne is... my sister??" Icy: "Try to keep up okay Bloom? She brought you here to Gardenia. So, for daring to interfere, the ancients got rid of her. Then they destroyed Domino, your home planet, for good measure. And now we're here to get what rightfully belongs to us... The Dragon Flame, and you can't stop us. Right sisters?" Sisters: "Right." Bloom: "I can try." (Me: PFFT...) Icy: "Oh yeah?" Icy freezes Bloom to the wall as her sisters cackle. "You are the guardian fairy of the greatest power in the Magic Dimension." Icy goes up to Bloom and grabs her by the chin: "But not anymore." We get a slick zoom shot of the front of Bloom's house as Icy says "Ready sisters?" They summon their vacuums. Icy: "And now sisters, we will take Bloom's power." Girls: "Vacuum!" Bloom's power gets ripped right out of her and into the vacuums. Icy: "The Dragon Flame is ours! :-D :-D Sisters, I think we can go." The Trix leave, and Bloom falls out of the ice, and reverts to her casuals. Bloom: "The Trix took the Dragon Flame!" Yes, Bloom, I think we can see that...
I can understand removing (say) the epic battle that precedes Bloom's parents being dropped in the hole, but I notice that there's one more thing in the original script that the Trix didn't mention here (although if you've been paying attention to the summaries, you can probably figure it out). Wondering if they're saving it for a more dramatic reveal in the next special? That of course raises the question of how they'll do that, as the trailer seems to only focus on the battle (and at Alfea, at that).
Overall, this special is somewhat better than the first one. Not as many big "Uh, WHA?" moments for those who've seen the original (or 4K for that matter), fewer plot holes for the newcomer.
Next time on Winx will be the epic final battle for S1, which basically suggests that they're doing S1 in 3 hours, and S2 in 1 hour. Definitely not good news for those who prefer S2 to S1 (raises hand), and it certainly doesn't sound like they'll be able to cover any more than the most superficial plot points of S2 in that given time... Something tells me that it'll just be the Winx rescuing the pixies and getting rid of LD.
