Winx Club: The Battle for Magix (Part 3)

spiderbraidsAlfea. Flo: "Ms. Faragonda, we've detected a temporal distortion." Musa: "Over there, right next to the well!" FG: "It's Ms. Griffin and her students! I am so relieved." We see Grif and FG walk towards each other, and something looks a bit off about FG's re-animated walk. FG: "Welcome to Alfea, Ms. Griffin. I see that your students have followed you." Grif: "Yes, but it is thanks to your students that we were able to escape from the clutches of those 3 power-crazed witches." (This is the exact dialog that the original version used, while 4Kids had something about Griffin turning a sorority into goats. No, seriously.) Stella goes off to talk with the other Winx. Musa: "Hey you guys!" Flo: "Stella, where's Bloom?" Stella: "She was with Sky, she should've been back by now."
Instead, she's in the forest looking at Sky and his broken bike. Sky: "Ah man, it's totally busted." Bloom: "So I guess that means we're walking." Sky: "Yeah, looks like it. Let's head back to Magix city. Maybe we can get to Alfea from there." Bloom and Sky walk a while, and then...
Bloom: "Sky, did you hear that?" Sky: "Hear what?" Bloom: "I thought I heard someone call my name." Sky: "Huh, I didn't hear anything." They continue walking a bit more, and then... Bloom: "You must have heard that. Someone is calling me!" Sky: "Bloom, I don't hear anything. Nobody's calling you." Bloom: "No Sky, it's real. It's Daphne. She's calling me." Sky: "Bloom... that's crazy." Bloom: "No... it's not. I have to go to Lake Roccalucce." Sky: "Well then I'm coming with you." Bloom pushes Sky's chestpiece: "You can't Sky, I must go alone. You go on to Magix city, I'll catch up." Bloom heads off, while Sky goes off in the opposite direction: "Oh man." Who does he think he is, Ben Tennyson? :-P
(Before you ask, no, Daphne doesn't actually get muted out here.)
(A la redundant VO lady) Next morning at Alfea, Stella is standing at the dorm balcony: "I hope that Bloom is okay." Meanwhile, Flora, Tecna and Musa are looking at a pumpkin on the table. No, they're not getting an early start on Halloween :-) Stella: "Poor Mirta." Musa: "Flora, you can't give up. You're the only one who can help her." Stella: "You have to bring her back." Musa: "You can do it Flora." Flo: "I'll try." She concentrates her magic on the pumpkin. The pumpkin shines brightly, and we see Flo and Mirta reaching out for each other: "Okay Mirta, reach out, take my hand!" (Umm... seriously?)
With a bright flash, the pumpkin is no more. Flo looks around and finds Mirta, back to normal. Flo: "Mirta! You're back! "Mirta: "Oh thank you Flora, thank you for not giving up on me. You saved me!" Flo: "You were a really great pumpkin Mirta, but I think I like you better as a person :-)" They hold hands, and thus, many a ship sets sail ;-)
CT, and the Trix have apparently escaped from their imprisonment, as we see them looking at FG and Grif through the eye-spider from earlier. Icy: "So Ms. Griffin is at Alfea..." Stormy: "And ganging up on us!" Darcy: "It doesn't matter: we have the power of the Dragon Flame." Icy: "Yes, it's time to use it. We'll destroy them." We cut to the outside where some flying creatures are circling the top of the tower and other creatures of the dark are marching out. Icy: "Creatures of the dark, arise!" Some of the larger creatures get swamped in creepy crawlies to create large pyramid-like piles in the middle of the procession. Icy: "Come on sisters!" These piles turn into thrones for the Trix to ride on. Icy: "To Alfea!"
Sky: "Magix City is a ghost town." Indeed, the only movement in the normally vibrant city is trash being blown around by the wind. Sky: "Hello? Is anybody here?" Good news? There is. Bad news? It's a creature of the dark. We see them tussle for a while. Sky: "Come on, I'm not afraid of you!" The bad news just gets even worse, however, because a bunch of creepy crawlies make it grow in size quickly.
Alfea. A bunch of random Specialists, and FG and Grif stand on the top of one of the towers. More Specialists are on the ground, with two fairies flying through for good measure. Grif: "They're coming. I can feel it." FG: "Yes, I know." We see a bunch of Specialists holding cane-like weapons (one of the Specialists has light blue skin!) We see Coda and Sal, then Flo and Mirta (no, not together :-P). FG: "Alright, this is it! Hold your positions, the stakes have never been higher!" We see the army coming down the road and Icy saying "Alfea." The army arrives at Alfea, and Icy says (in a slightly less nonchalant manner than in the original) "Attack." We see a bunch of flying creatures attacking. FG and Grif cast some sort of protective barrier over Alfea...
...as we flash cut to a lake. Bloom arrives at the lake shore in her biker outfit, which we see de-materialize to reveal her previous casuals before Bloom steps in the lake. "Daphne? I heard you calling me. I'm here." Daphne: "Bloom... come to me Bloom. Come to me. Follow my voice." We see her standing on some sort of underwater ledge, and suddenly it cuts to Daphne materializing in the underwater cave.
Bloom: "Daphne, am I dreaming?" Daphne: "No Bloom, you're not dreaming. Come to me little sister. You haven't lost your powers Bloom. Look over there. Look and see who you really are." Bloom looks over: "It's home. Gardenia. And my parents... I mean my adoptive parents." We get a series of pictures of her life, similar to the montage from the previous special (even including some of the same pictures), minus extra effects. Daphne: "Yes, who raised you and loved you with all their hearts, as you loved them. Now look closer." Remember that sequence in the lake from the previous special, and noticed that we've skipped the trip to Domino? Well, it all pays off here as Daphne hands her the box with the crown from before: "This is your birthright: The Crown of Domino. You are a princess, Bloom."
Bloom is rather nonplussed at this reveal: "No. I am a failure. I let the Trix take the Dragon Flame." Daphne: "Nobody can steal your past, your dreams, or your powers." We get pictures of Bloom eating pizza, Bloom hugging her friends, and a flying dragon. "You just have to look deep inside yourself, and you will find it." And with that, Daphne disappears.
We see Bloom strolling along the lake floor. We cut to the surface of the lake as a rock beat begins playing on the soundtrack, and we hear: "Magic Winx! Charmix!" Instead of a transformation, we see Fairy Bloom leave the surface of the lake, with a glowing dragon trailing her, as she declares: "Bloom: Fairy of the Dragon Flame!" and we briefly see her eyes flash.
Magix town, and Sky isn't having much luck with the creature of the dark. He hits one of its claws, and it just regenerates instantly. And it gets worse for Sky, as there's another big creature of the dark as well. Sky: "Oh no! Stay back, stay back!" As if things weren't already bad enough, another bunch of creepy crawlies gather into yet another big creature on the church behind Sky (nice CG work there). Sky is surrounded: "I may not be able to win, but I will fight!"
Suddenly, he sees a bright orange flash: "What's happening?" Well Sky, that can only mean one thing: Bloom with her glowing dragon. Bloom takes out all three monsters with three shots, leaving smouldering flames where the monsters stood. Bloom comes down: "Sky, are you okay?" Sky: "I am now. Bloom, you saved my life." We see Sky holding Bloom's hand, and it's a nice cute moment between the two. Sky: "Well, I guess we better get to Alfea. I bet they need your help." Bloom: "And yours." And they simply walk off. Cute.
Well, if anything good came from abridging the first season, at least it means less time for Bloom to spend wandering around aimlessly looking for the Dragon Flame ;-)
