In a nutshell: The Trix are back. Check behind the cut for more!

To recap: Alfea opens for another year, and Bloom wonders about some random lady who's just fainted there.

Layla's in the hospital room, and she's having nightmares about her run-in with Evil Guy and those monsters of his. Boring, next!

The girls (still in their outfits from the season premiere) are worried about pink lips, so Stella decides to talk about boyfriends. Starting with Musa's. Musa's like "How about Brandon's boyfriend?" and Stella's like "Okay, who's Brandon's boyfriend?" :D Anyways, Tecna's handheld reminds her that there are 12 minutes until sunrise. Stella wants to sleep in because "classes are optional". See, this attitude won't get you far in school, sunshine. Remember how you failed your simulator exams???

Some fort on a mountain. One guy's watering plants, another's reading a book. Two guard guys are talking to each other. One guard tells us that these guys here used to be hardened criminals. The other doesn't understand why they're walking around freely. First guard tells him "We believe in rehabilitation. This isn't a prison!" Second guard complains that they're getting more freedom than the guards will in their lifetime. First asks second if he sees what peace and meditation's doing for them. Second replies, "I don't think it's working for everyone." Of course, we know who he's talking about, and so does first. Those three witches have been shouting day in and day out and haven't made any progress since coming here to Light Rock Monastery. Didn't they refer to this place as "Lake Rocalucce" back in the season finale last year? First tells second "Brother, no one is beyond redemption."

This next segment here is vignetted, as the Trix are walking around aimlessly. They've walked over the horizon three times and ended up back where they started. "If only our magic worked here we'd be out so fast!" Darcy decides to lie down, while music blares in the background. Now, time for a weather forecast. Clear skies, light breeze from the northwest, high around 70 F, expect these conditions for the next few years. And now, back to more music, as a Prince Sky lookalike rides a horse past them. Stormy's had enough and she wants to obliterate the loudspeaker... as she heads into a flashback to all the crap they've done last season. Essentially, tons of Winx hurting, some dragon summoning, and some Bloom freezing.

The radio tells Stormy to stop doing evil acts and banish all evil thoughts. Why do they think it's that easy?

Icy hates all this simpering, and heads into yet another flashback, this time, emphasizing on Bloom. It features one of the classic lines of the 2nd episode: "What a pity you had to meet us." That was when Icy froze Bloom in an ice coffin and scratched her nails all over the ice. Good times, good times. There's also last season's big coup when they took Bloom's Dragonfire.

Stormy decides to remove the speaker. "Is disconnect more positive than obliterate?" The speaker keeps blaring away anyway, and she lobs it. "Stormy, weren't you listening? Anything is possible!" She punts it even further, and they still hear the sounds. They wonder where it's coming from, so they look around, and find tons of speakers waiting in the wings. This only makes the Trix mad. Icy swears: "I swear when we get outta here, I will be meaner than ever!!"

Alfea. Stella is fine and putting on some powder, while Bloom is trying to stay awake in class. Both are still in their season premiere outfits. WizGiz is telling everyone that although the students would probably like for everything in the universe to be good, it's just not the case (duh, there's an entire school of bad in the realm)... or even possible, because for every good magic energy, there is an equal evil magic energy created. He demonstrates this. Problem is, he's not showing them anything. So, he turns off the lights in the room, and shows the class the light he captured, and of course light is only visible in the darkness. Back the the subject at hand. Normally, these forces are balanced, but, "sometimes, balancing needs a bit of help. A dynamic energy between the dominant force and the recessive one." Bloom is visibly tired, so WizGiz yells at her.

WizGiz tells Bloom that she will need this knowledge review for her new classes. He then asks Bloom what's missing from the diagram, which looks like the yin-yang symbol. Anyone here remember "Dharma and Greg"? Bloom says Stella has earrings like that and she's slightly chided for that. In theory, there is a third kind of energy that manifests itself on special situations. Would that it might become a plot point, because that? Would make a great one.

But enough about that. Let's head back to pink lips! Flora and Musa (yep. Still season premiere outfits) are taking care of her. Pink lips wakes up, and she looks at her hands. She realizes it's been four days, and the first thing she wonders is "Where's Piff?" She lies back down on her bed, and Musa think she's nuts to look at her palms to figure out which day it is. Bloom and Stella have arrived at the hospital room, and Bloom tells Musa that pink lips is right, and Stella explains that wrinkles show the passage of time. Except for a certain fairy of fashion of course. At this point, the gang still doesn't know her name yet. Nurse lady tells us she's "a little pale around the gills". Okay, does she treat fish for a living or something? Anyways, pink lips is waking up again. Flora tells her that's she's at Alfea, and she had been dreaming she was looking for Piff. Bloom quickly realizes that Piff is her bonded pixie, and tells us once again about bonding. Anyways, Piff's sleeping on a table in the hospital room.

Okay. Pink lips is hungry, and Sunshine is quick to offer her a sandwich. Flora recommends that she shouldn't shout. Piff crying nonstop is the reason why. A tomato slips from Stella's sandwich, and somehow she throws the sandwich straight on to pink lips' head. HEE!

With that out of the way, Layla is eating her sandwich, as the four of them who are here (Tecna is still AWOL) introduce themselves. "I'm Layla... and I couldn't save the pixies." Now, now, Layla, introducing yourself with your greatest failure is not a good way to create a first impression on anyone. But hey, at least now they know her name at least.

Anyhow, Bloom's surprised to hear that there's a village full of them, although Musa is a bit leery of Layla being a friend to the pixies. Bloom thinks FG would want to know about her story, and so would Sunshine: "This is good gossip!" Layla thinks it might be dangerous the others to get involved in this, but the others want to know first so they can help, as Flora offers her some tea to help her regain her strength.

Okay, tea time with a story. Layla's family has always been close to the pixies and they visit their village every year. Cue still pictures with minimal animation. This time around the village was empty, and everyone had gone to the dark woods for a nature ceremony, and Lockette and Blinky the only ones back, with news that they were kidnapped by shadows monsters. Layla followed the tar, just like Harry Potter once followed a trail of spiders, and discovered where they had been taken. Okay, cue green-hued fully animated footage. The trail led them to an underground castle. Cue our (but not their) first look at Layla's fairy outfit. Hmm...

Anyways, they ran into Evil Guy, and Layla describes him for the fairies: "It was a huge bird, a sort of phoenix, monstrous and evil-looking. And it transformed itself. I saw it turn into something like a man. A armored knight with ultra sharp claws." Nice description, pink lips.

So anyways, Evil Guy drained Layla, and took Lockette and Blinky and put them into cells with the other pixies. Back to the hospital. Layla recalls what we saw last week, and it hurts for her to recall her greatest failure (I've been there, pink lips). We find out that there are only a few left, the ones we saw last week. Wish you'd never left them, Layla? Of course you do. (Though I do question her choice of words... she doesn't live there, you know.) Anyways, Layla is sobbing in Musa's arms, as Bloom and Musa promise to help Layla free those other pixies together.

And hey. One's not much better than none, but six is better than just one, right?

Evil Guy's pad. Kerbog hangs with Evil Guy. Okay, he hangs off Evil Guy's arm. Evil Guy finds out that the Codex is in four parts, and of course the pixie village has one part. It turns out that the other quadrants are in Magix, at the schools.

Light Rock Monastery. First guard is teaching second guard, Brother Shiloh, about the path to knighthood, when suddenly a huge Evil Phoenix Guy flies straight above them. "Holy Light Rock!" First guard wonders where he came from, because the walls are an inter-dimensional barrier. So much for your puny inter-dimensional barrier, EH?

Vignetted field. A couple on a bench are doing their version of Romeo and Juliet. Darcy is watching it upside down from a hay bale. Icy's watching it right side up from a hammock. Stormy is covered in flowers under a tree. Now this is a weird image.

Romeo and Juliet disappear as Darcy says "Girls, if we don't show some enthusiasm they'll never let us out on good behavior!" Icy replies "No way. That's beneath my dignity."

Suddenly the skies grow dark, and the vignette disappears. The Trix like it, because, well, Icy says it pretty well herself: "Something wicked is in the air." It's Evil Guy, burning grass with every step he takes. "You are now serving the forces of evil." "Am I ever pleased to hear that!"

Some hall. Evil Guy and the Trix are here. The Trix tells Evil Guy how lame this place was. "The light was unbearable." "So were those silly clothes..." Evil Guy takes off those silly clothes and reveals the monogrammed outfits we knew to hate. But dang if they're not hot-looking anyway. The guards appear. They're not fazed by no lightning, and they're not fazed by no yoooge ice-wall, no sirree. (Yeah, it's a double negative. Got a problem?) Darcy notes they're immune to magic, and Evil Guy tells "They're immune to _your_ magic!" and summons three dark magic things.

One draws a line on Stormy's left arm, replacing the glove that used to be there. The second draws its line on Darcy's right arm, also replacing her glove. The last one doesn't replace Icy's gloves, as it draws its lines over her neck. They're much stronger now, because these are the Gloomix, and it'll multiply their powers.

Back to the action, and Darcy strikes the guards with some big bad optical darkness. This confuses them for a while until they decide to try getting around with their ears. "They resist Darcy's spell???" "No, they just don't know WHEN TO QUIT!" Brilliant line, Icy. Icy shoots some ice (what else?), and Stormy mixes it with a hurricane. Bingo, instant guardsicles.

Icy thinks that it'll be easy to get the Dragon's Fire with these, but Evil Guy tells them that there are much greater power to be had than the Dragon's Fire. Darcy asks "Greater than the dragon?" Yeah, I'm asking the same question too. Anyways, Evil Guy answers "Yes, and it will be mine just as YOU THREE are mine!"

Evil Guy continues, "This place drives me mad" and leaves. The Trix go off with him. Ladies and gentlemen, the Trix have left the building.

Back at Alfea's dorm... as she's looking out the window, Bloom has a bad feeling. Not the kind of bad feeling that you have to go to the hospital for, oh no. And not the kind of feeling you'd get if you were slapped with a huge homework assignment either.

Next, they're heading out to the caves to rescue the pixies.

Why do you keep calling Layla "pink lips?" It sounds kind of wrong.

They're her 2nd most distinct feature behind her skin.

"Pale around the gills" is just a phrase for looking sick. Maybe you guys don't have it in your country.

Yeah, I figured out what she meant by that. It's just that, well, there's a fish in a bowl next to Layla, and the "pale around the gills" comment just seemed a bit "Hmm..." juxtaposed with the fish.

I'd cut out the "pink lips" if I were you. I've heard it used in a pornographic sense before and that's just not good. It bothers me. And it's not funny.
