Winx Club: The Shadow Phoenix (part 3)

spiderbraidsSomething seems to be up with Avalon: "And now for the pixies." He mixes a bunch of potions and herbs before casting Latin on it to send a bunch of light orbs from the cauldron. The light orbs are headed to what looks like a playground for the pixies. The golden pigtailed one is wearing some sort of sports gear when she gets pelted by one of them. Amore: "Run Tune!" Musa's pixie follows, so there's another name down. Amore is in sports gear, but not Tune. Lockette gets hit twice, first one gets rid of her sports gear, the other knocks her into the wall. (They had their reasons for wearing the sports gear in the original...)
Nighttime and Lockette comes to, with a bright flash in her eyes: "I must go back to Pixie Village!" SP is spying: "Exactly as planned." The other pixies also come to and show the same bright flash, and fly off. (Piff isn't with them "for some reason".) The pixies' voices here actually make them come across as if they were zombies. SP: "Those weaklings. Icy, where are you?" Icy comes up through the floor as if she were Mira Nova (cookie for anyone who gets that reference). Icy: "You hollered my lord?" SP: "Follow the pixies to Pixie Village. Take the Codex from them and bring it to me." Icy: "Very well, I'm on it." Icy teleports in a flash of lightning. SP gloats: "The Codex is almost mine."
Icy is following the possessed pixies with a bunch of monsters. Is she trying to speed up the process? (For that matter, it's also daytime again...) "Run you beasts, don't let them out of your sight!" We see, well, a village of pixies. Icy: "Pixie Village, how quaint. I think I'll destroy it." Icy doesn't waste any time coming in and shooting her ice spells at everything (and everyone) in the village: "My name is ICY! I'm here for the Codex, where is it?" Icy also uses the monsters to threaten them: "Give me the Codex or I'll turn you all into pixie-sicles!" A green-haired pixie with a yellow outfit and a scepter appears: "What do you want witch?" Icy freezes more pixies: "Have you not been listening? Give me the Codex now!" Green-haired pixie: "No." Icy: "If you don't give me the Codex now, I will destroy Pixie Village and every pixie in it!" Random pixies: "Oh dear..." Green-haired pixie: "No, no, stop!" She twirls her scepter and it turns into a big oval-ish disc for Icy to take. Icy: "The Codex! The Phoenix will be so pleased."
Castle, and the Trix teleport in (even though only Icy was doing this plan :-\) SP: "Finally, you're back." Icy: "And with a little... present." Icy hands the Codex over to SP. SP: "At last, the Codex. And now for the final part of my plan: Bloom and the Dragon Flame! (cackles)"
Bloom is walking down the hall with Avalon. Avalon: "Bloom, I feel there is more that I can do to help you find your birth parents. Are you willing to try again?" Bloom: "Oh yes, professor Avalon." Jumpcut to them in another classroom. Avalon: "For this exercise, I need your absolute trust. Can you give it to me?" Bloom: "Yes professor." Avalon conjures up a big yellow sphere: "Good, come with me." Bloom enters the sphere, and Avalon follows. Bloom: "Professor, what is this place?" Avalon shows his true colors: "Somewhere you cannot escape me! (cackles)" Avalon teleports the sphere out of the classroom.
FG in her office, with a whole bunch of pixies. Green-haired one tells her about having to give the Codex to Icy. FG explains why this is bad news: "With the Codex, the Phoenix can force open the doorway to the interplanetary dimension." This alarms the pixies. "And if he had a source of great power..." FG is interrupted in her train of thought by the other Winx coming in. Stella: "Miss Faragonda, Bloom is missing!" Lockette panics. Musa is holding Tecna's gadget: "We've been looking all over." Tecna takes back her gadget: "I've detected an unusual temporal disturbance in Professor Avalon's classroom. Here, I can translate it into an image." Which is basically the bit we just saw. FG: "Our enemy was here all the time, and now he has the Dragon Flame, all he needs to seize control of the Magic Realm. Quickly girls, we must stop the Shadow Phoenix and rescue Bloom!"
We see a much larger Specialists ship than the one we've seen before, dwarfing the Winx and the Specialists. FG exposits about Bloom's kidnapping and adds, "I am counting on you, Winx and Specialists, to rescue her!" Stella: "We'll find her Miss Faragonda." FG: "You will not be alone. The pixies of the Codex have volunteered to accompany you. They will be able to open the doorway to the interplanetary dimension." Besides the green pixie from earlier (who has her staff again, even though it already turned into the Codex earlier :-P) , we have a pixie with a batwing headdress, a blonde bespectacled pixie with a blue hat, and a red-haired pixie in a toga. "Hurry, there is no time to waste!" Everyone boards the ship and takes off. We see the big ship fly across the sky to the cave from earlier. Timmy: "Hang on everybody, we're entering the tunnel!" Tec: "It's the most direct route to the Phoenix's castle." Timmy: "Very true, but it's also the trickiest." Aisha: "We need to be prepared to meet resistance. The Phoenix has an army of Shadow Monsters." Helia: "That's what we're here for." The ship negotiates its way through the tricky tunnel to the Phoenix's castle.
Castle. Avalon shows even more of his true colors: "And now Bloom, it's time for you to see me as I really am. Not your kind professor Avalon but... the Shadow Phoenix!" (M Night "Last Airbender" Shyamalan: "Wow, what a twist!" ;-)) Bloom has been tied up magically: "You tricked me! Why have you brought me here?" SP: "Because with you, fairy of the Dragon Flame, I will rule all of Magix!" Bloom: "That is never going to happen Shadow Buzzard!" :-D
Icy comes in: "Excuse me, sorry to interrupt your little tete-a-tete, Master..." Bloom: "The Trix!" SP: "What do you want?" Stormy is also here: "We thought that you would like to know... we're under attack." Darcy: "There's a shiny spaceship outside full of Specialists, and the Winx." SP: "A petty annoyance. You deal with it." Icy: "What, that's it? we're on our own?" SP grins: "Gather my army. Give them your powers, and let them do the fighting."
Back to the Specialists. Timmy: "We're in position." Sky: "Everyone, battle stations!" We cut to the Trix, walking outside the castle, then we cut back to Sky taking a small fighter drone and Helia and Riven taking a magic elevator to the upper-level cockpit. Fighter drone gets launched, followed by the combat pod, which turns out to be the usual Specialists transport, which has been perched in the front of the big ship.
The Trix arrive at a big perch in front of the castle, where they launch the powers to cover the whole area. The thus-enchanted monsters awaken and start firing their attacks on the combat pod. Timmy starts evasive maneuvers, and fires shots at some of the monsters. Some of the monsters try throwing rocks at the combat pod, but Sky takes them out as well.
Sky clips one of his wings on a stalactite, but the real issue is one of the monsters blocking his view. "I'm going to ditch this loser!" Honestly, what kind of dialog was that? Sky clips a wing again, and it sends the fighter drone literally spiraling out of control. Thankfully, that sends the monster into the drink and Sky quickly recovers somewhat. Even more thankfully, the mothership with Helia and Riven is hovering right above him. Sky positions himself for docking, but he's got a problem: "My left rudder is gone. I can't level my approach!" Riven: "He's in trouble. He's not going to make it." Helia: "I'll reel him in!" Helia walks out to the docking area, and fires his glove at the fighter drone. So he's effectively going to drag in the fighter drone with a rope. Seriously. He starts pulling it in, but then a bunch of bats buzz the top the drone, sending the drone downwards and dragging him to the ledge of the docking area. Helia keeps pulling, and them jumps backwards to the back, finally dragging the drone to safety. Timmy is impressed as Helia reels his rope back in to his glove.
Final approach now... Brandon: "Okay, Winx, time to go into your act. We'll handle it and finish off the monsters." Tec: "You ready?" Others: "Yes!" Tec: "Let's transform!" One set of transformations later (we find out Aisha is the fairy of waves), the Winx get off the ship and fly into the area, with bonded pixies in tow. Good luck!
Interestingly (though understandably), the plot's been changed a bit to fit the plot in the hour. The "original" Avalon was really an evil clone working for the Phoenix (so, how will they explain his handful of S3 appearances in scenes with the other teachers now? if at all?), and the Codex was originally in 4 pieces (with the other 3 at the respective schools; hence, the 4 Codex pixies). In fact, that's why the Phoenix drafted the Trix to begin with, as he saw it was much more work than he could do alone. Hmm...
