Winx Club: 2x16: Hallowinx!

spiderbraidsBeen meaning to do this for a while... It's nearing the witching hour on Halloween night, so what better time than now to post a summary of Winx Club's Halloween episode? :-)
We open at Alfea, where Palladium is asking the Winx to explain their midterm reports, starting with Flora. She starts reading it, and Pally tells her to "Explain it in your own words." As Flo starts talking about her visit to Magix, Bloom tells Layla that the Winx have been invited to a Halloween party in Gardenia. Since Layla (and the rest of the Winx) obviously doesn't know jack (o lantern ;-)) about Halloween, Bloom explains it nicely: "You know, Halloween, jack-o-lanterns, scary costumes?" Layla seemingly drops her report, and as Flo continues talking about her interview with a very ancient tree (typical Flora ;-)), Layla tells Stella about the party, and she describes it as involving "scary lanterns and a game of jacks" :-D
As Tecna is foreshadowing a future plot point: "Opposite Magix we've got the Wildlands. In that area magical energy is at absolute minimum", Stella mangles Bloom's message even more as she relays it over to Musa: "Hey, there's this school guy named Jack who's throwing this scary Winx party tonight!"
Bloom explains her report: "At Alfea, fairies learn to use their powers in a positive and creative way", as Musa tells Flora that there's a "scary party with cool guys, and virtually everyone wants to see the Winx". Aisha is next with her report about Cloud Tower: "which is a school where witches use magic to be destructive rather than do good", and Stella adds, "The Specialists are there to balance things between the schools, deal with that Wildland place, and of course keep us gorgeous fairies :-)" (I'm not actually sure if she does say "keep" in that line :-\)
Flora tells Tecna: "A party is being thrown for the Winx by virtually every cool guy, it's gonna be scary!" Tecna says: "Huh, a virtual party? In a scary sub-zero computer generated world? That's like such a great idea!" Pally overhears this and assigns her with some homework: "But first you'll have to write up a report; a report of at least 100 pages on my desk tomorrow morning." This prompts the other Winx to giggle :-D
Because Zing already had her episode a few weeks ago, we see a card with a picture of a pixie in a red and green jester outfit flying into Alfea, past a bunch of bewildered students and pixie pets, landing in front of a grinning Livy (and I notice now that she has little wings on her bare feet :-)) Pixie comes off the card and Livy identifies her as "Jolly", and Jolly proceeds to dust herself off, before addressing Livy as "little sister"... Fascinating.
So anyways, Livy tells Jolly about the "pumpkin party" she's going to tonight, and she says Jolly can come too. Jolly tells Livy: "There is a... a dark shadow above you", to which Livy replies: "Hmm?... I don't see it! Now come on, let's go let's go let's go!" Jolly clarifies that "The cards say a dark thing awaits the traveler." Livy looks a bit skeptical about this...
...as we fade out to Jolly walking through a foggy area. Jolly kneels down in a non-descript area, as a spotlight shines on her. She casts a spell that makes a couple of cards appear: "The caravan: Travellers on a journey. The sun is low: Travellers are youthful. (gasp) The frightened fawn: Danger hangs over the traveller's head! (gasp) The three faceless sisters! That means wickedness, suffering, or betrayal! My fairy and pixie friends... (makes cards disappear) Do not go to the party, a cruel trick awaits. You will not be able to tell truth from lies!"
Outside Alfea, Stella is in her fairy outfit with her scepter: "Come on girls, Gardenia's waiting!" And with one swing, she teleports the Winx girls off, except for Bloom, who thanks Jolly for the prophecy, and suspects that the three sisters could be the Trix... "But then again, why would they ever go to Gardenia?" Livy: "Right, so let's just worry about having fun tonight." Bloom: "Even though in Gardenia only little kids can see you, try to stay out of trouble..." Bloom teleports off in the middle of that sentence, which raises a couple of questions. Pixies: "Promise!"
Gardenia, and lots of people walking around in Halloween costumes! Stella: "Wow, did your friend invite the whole city?" Bloom: "No, Halloween is an international party, but there are also private parties like the one we're going to, and everybody wears a costume."
The pixies meet a woman with tarot cards: "My tarot cards will reveal your destiny." Jolly: "Puh-lease. Amateur!" :-D Tune and Chatta look at a dog barking at them. Tune (anyone miss her?): "Bad manners!" As is the case with 2x13, the dog's owner is bewildered what he is barking at.
Musa asks Bloom, "Does Mitzi know we're coming?" Bloom: "Well, Mitzi isn't exactly a friend, but she did say you guys could come along." Stella: "Of course, if she has some sense..." Stella is cut off by Mitzi's sudden arrival. Bloom introduces Mitzi to the Winx, and Mitzi responds: "The party is at 8 o clock. Try not to be so scruffy alright?"
Mitzi screeches off. Stella: "Speak for yourself!" Tecna: "Yeah really, was that blue top tacky or what?" :-) Bloom: "Hey, let's not worry about Mitzi alright? A party is a party!"
Lockette asks, "Bloom, is that a costume?" Kid in yellow poncho with really big glasses: "Hey, I'm the real one..." Bloom: says "This one's kind of hard to explain, Lockette." Lockette: "I don't get it."
Lockette encounters a pumpkin with a face carved in it. A jack-o-lantern, of course. Everyone's at where the party is taking place, as the girls head into a foggy area. Stella: "Compared to this, Cloud Tower is warm and fuzzy." I dunno, the events of the next few episodes after this one might make you reconsider...
Oh, and it's clear that the girls have transformed into their original flavor fairy outfits, but have covered them under robes (a la Secret of the Lost Kingdom).
Stella: "You sure this is the right place?" Bloom holds out a map: "Yeah, we're nearly there." In a random weird moment, we see a cat talk: "Hello Flora..." Flora turns around and the cat is gone. HUH. Flora: "A black cat just spoke to me." Tecna's in her fairy outfit but does not have her usual headgear... how's that supposed to work? "Flora, you're letting this place get to you." Pan up to show a woman riding on a broom :-D
Cut to Jolly and Livy. Jolly: "The three sisters are getting close, I can just feel it." Livy: "Come on Jolly, we're supposed to be having fun!" They come across a jack-o-lantern on a tree stump. Jolly: "Look at that sculpture... What a beautiful face!" HUH.
The Winx and the pixies converge on the gate. Bloom: "Here we are, this is the house." We cut to a sign saying "Silent Villa", to which Tecna reacts: "Wow, just like that video game: Resident Evil Doom II." (Wow, references to three video games in five seconds, must be some sort of record ;-))
As the girls enter, Layla asks "There will be dancing right?" Figures... Digit (anyone else miss her?) hears a noise: "Did you hear that? Listen up!" Digit looks around and finds a speaker: "Ah hah! Artifical noises!" Lockette, Digit and Chatta then spot a woman in a white mask roaming around, and Digit wonders if she's a fake too. Lockette: "Come on, let's go home!"
The girls (and the pixies) head to the villa. Bloom makes good use of the rather gothic-looking knocker. We see some dust come down, and Tecna notes: "This house is about to fall apart." Bloom: "I know." (Tecna exposes an un-sleeved arm as she says this. Tsk, sloppy animators...)
Bloom opens the door, and the girls get a cheap scare from a jack-o-lantern with a jester hat dropping down in the doorway :-D A girl in a maid outfit pushes the pumpkin back up and asks "Who are you?" Bloom introduces herself and her friends and gives the maid her invitation, and the maid lets them in.
Musa: "Very nice costume" Maid: "I'm not a party guest, I'm at Mitzi's service!" Musa: "Whoops." Maid brings them to the main room with the guests. Jolly and Digit float along. Flora gets freaked out by light coming out of a skull. Tune: "Is no one going to welcome us? How very rude." Chatta: "Aw, this party is so lame." Layla: "And it's so dark."
Bloom and Layla are greeted by one of the guests: "Hello hot stuff. If you're not feeling well, come and see me. I'm a doctor you know?" Layla: "Yeah, well doctor, you're the one making me feel queasy :-\" Doctor: "Huh, maybe you'd rather be in the hands of my assistant... the nurse." True to character, Nurse Elle is wearing an eyepatch over her right eye (our left), and is holding a syringe in her left hand (our right). "Hey, how did this trash get in here?" Bloom: "Um, is Mitzi around?" Nurse Elle: "What if she was? You really think she'd give you the time of day? As if Mitzi would waste her time chatting up little girls like you." Bloom seems offended at the nurse's comment, as she spots Mitzi coming down the staircase, in a rather fetching number, with a nice pumpkin-themed handbag. We see one random girl in a blue mask saying: "Wow, I wish I could carry myself like her!" This will be important.
And then the music starts skipping, and we see the actual source of the music: Some kid trying to fiddle around with the CD player :-D "Oh no... the CD's skipping!" Mitzi: "You loser! Get out! I never wanna see your face again! Got it?" The look on CD player kid's face says it all... 4Kids' change made this scene even better, and that's pretty impressive...
Mitzi heads over to Bloom: "Bloom, I'm so glad you came. Isn't this dress marvelous?" Bloom: "Oh yeah, it's really something else." Mitzi: "Something else? What kind of complement is that? Aren't these sparkles dazzling? I had them custom made, they cost me a fortune." I dunno, I don't see any sparkles on her outfit... Mitzi looks at the Winx girls' robes: "Now speaking of costumes... I find yours very disappointing. I told you to wear something elegant. This is a party, not a funeral." Stella: "Sweetie, put on your sunglasses..." Mitzi: "And why should I?" Mitzi then gasps as the girls drop their robes to reveal their fairy outfits (and Tecna's headgear is back on her head now ;-)) Doctor is like "Oh, wow..." and nurse elbows him :-D
A random girl asks: "How did you make your wings? They look so real." Flora: "That's a secret" Another random girl with a pink hat is checking out Stella's outfit: "I would so love to wear something like that, just once in my life." A redhead in a skeleton costume checks out Tecna's outfit: "It beats series 2902, Thermo Optic Camoflash!" Whatever that means... We pan over to Mitzi bieng approached by blue mask girl: "Would you like me to go and dim the lights a little bit?" Mitzi: "No, you'd just mess it up. And anyways, I've got a plan to scare them all right out of their halfwits." Mitzi has an evil laugh as we fade out.
Fade in on a jack-o-lantern on a non-descript green background. Jolly magically summons up her cards, and then apparently turns her head to the viewers: "And now, I shall read this pumpkin's future." HUH. Jolly levitates the cards into the air, and the pumpkin's facial reaction changes to an :-O face. The first card comes down and it's a picture of a pumpkin: "Hey look, it's you." The pumpkin smiles. Jolly brings down another card, and she seems alarmed. The pumpkin hops over to take a look. Jolly: "The three sisters will appear and totally ruin the party :-(" A third card comes down next to the other two, and then drops down to the ground. Jolly takes the card, and she and the pumpkin brace themselves before looking at the card... and it's a picture of a tree. "It's the card of wind!" Jolly slams it face down against the floor as we fade out again.
Fade in on a table with Jolly sitting next to a jack-o-lantern with the cards, warning Musa and Tecna, as well as their pixies, that "doom's right around the corner." Tune: "Well, let's just hope it's not the Trix."
Back at the party, Mitzi is talking with her maid: "Our guests are thirsty. Take care of it." Bloom and Flora are looking at a mysterious hat-wearing guest. Bloom: "Isn't he cute? He's even more mysterious than Helia." Flo: "Oh no, there's nothing with Helia." Bloom: "Don't worry, I'll do the introduction." Flo: "No wait!" (Facepalm) :-D
Bloom: "Hey, how are you doing? So, where are you from?" Guest: "Romania." Bloom: "Nice party huh?" Maid interrupts the proceedings: "Care for a Screaming Mary? It's a vampire special :-)" We see Mitzi turning her head pointedly. Flora takes one glass and Bloom takes two, and offers one to the guest. Guest rejects it saying: "Can't stand vampires" :-) Flo: "Ooh, Mitzi's friends are very boring... They're also anti-social :-\" Bloom: "Well, who am I going to give this drink to then?" Flo: "I guess you could use it as a good excuse to meet someone new :-)" The sparkles on the girls' outfits freeze before cutting to a wide shot of the villa...
...before cutting back inside, where Bloom is trying to offer another guest her other Screaming Mary. Guest tells Bloom "Leave me alone", which bewilders her. Flora: "That worked real well " Mitzi walks over and pulls hard on Bloom's wings, causing her to drop one of the glasses, and the Screaming Marys to spill on Bloom's fairy top :-D Mitzi: "Sorry about your dress :-) You know nothing stains like a Screaming Mary :-)"
Bloom removes the stain with her magic, also refilling up the glass. Bloom calls out to Mitzi: "Mitzi! Your drinks are great, it'd be a shame to spill one!" Mitzi's confused reaction says it all :-)
Outside the villa, three faceless girls wander around moaning "Her eyes are red, red like blood" "Her face is crawling with maggots" and "Whoever's touched will also perish, and will perish terribly..." We see one of them make a "Huh-huh-huh" laugh before heading off with the others...
Back inside, Jolly asks Musa: "Did you see some strange girls back there?" Musa: "Relax Jolly, they're just Mitzi's boring friends with costumes on. They think they're so cool..." We cut to a wide shot, showing Mitzi looking at Musa apparently standing alone in the walkway, because this was the good old days when the pixies were invisible to everyone (except kids and dogs) Mitzi tells a guy dressed as Freddy Kruger: "Hah! She's talking to herself. This is what happens when you hang out with Bloom too long :-D"
Jolly: "We'll soon be facing our doom, I can feel it :-(" Musa: "Hungry is what I feel." The doorbell rings. Musa sneaks up to open the door, and encounters... some guy in a certain familiar red mask. Musa: "Who are you?" Guy: "Just your friendly neighborhood cake delivery guy :-) Here ya go. Enjoy!"
Musa: "Cakes?" Freddy: "Of course my dear. These are very very special cakes... Pumpkin cakes made especially for Mitzi's party. Wanna see?" Mitzi: "Offer her one!" Freddy: "Which pumpkin would you like?" Freddy just stabs one of his iconic nails into one without letting Musa choose :-\ : "This one here?" Freddy cackles, and Musa takes the cake. While Musa is chewing on it, Freddy and Mitzi have a knowing glance... and then Musa clutches her tummy.
Musa seems offended at Freddy and Mitzi. Mitzi: "I guess you picked the earwax-flavored one :-D" Mitzi and Freddy walk away as Mitzi says: "Boy, is she pathetic or what?" Jolly looks teed off. She takes a look at the cakes and has an idea...
We see the guests suddenly turning around as they see Mitzi getting chased by hovering pumpkin cakes :-D Jolly: "Hey, don't look at me, you asked for it :-D" Livy: "Jolly, are you sure that was such a good idea?" (Beat) Jolly: "You're absolutely right Livy. I should have made them fight her..." :-D
Over to Tecna and Digit, where Tec is eating a piece of pie. Tec: "Digit, this crack worries me. I don't think the structure of this house is very sound." Digit: "What I find odd is that the crack originates from this picture..." We have a close-up on the picture showing three faceless girls, with really red hair. HUH. Digit points out this is just like Jolly's prophecy, and Tecna decides to warn the others.
Outside shot of villa. The full moon is looking good tonight :-)
The Winx are gathered in a back room. Bloom: "I don't like this three sisters stuff. If it's the Trix we could be in trouble." Layla: "Tecna, was the crack you saw like this one over here by any chance?" Tecna: "Hey, this crack starts from being a picture too." It's a picture of the Villa, and Tecna reads: "Renovated 15 times in 20 years, the mystery of Silent Villa. After each renovation, the house seems to age 50 years in a matter of months. No construction worker will go near the place anymore, reports the foreman." Tec: "This house is haunted." Short flashback to when Bloom knocked the door. "I guess that would explain all the squeaks we've been hearing." Mitzi's maid rushes in: "Bloom, quick. Mitzi's ill, she asks for your help."
Mitzi is moaning in bed, with Nurse Elle tending to her. Bloom: "Mitzi, what happened?" Mitzi cries for a bit and answers: "I saw them! All three of them!" Bloom: "Them?" Mitzi: "They're still alive! The mirror..." Nurse Elle: "Mitzi saw the three evil sisters who used to live in this house over a hundred years ago." Elle picks up an old-looking sheet of newspaper: "There was an article about it in the paper, about how their adorable younger sister was murdered when someone tried to demolish the house." Flora: "A 4th sister?" Elle: "Yup. It says here that in order to avenge her death, the three sisters made a deal with some witches who then turned their clothes to blood, and the three sisters haven't been heard from since." Digit: "Tecna, I saw one in the yard." Tecna: "Well then why didn't you report it?" Digit: "But I thought it was a prank." You'd think that Tecna would be more careful about not talking with her pixie while other "Muggles" are around :-\
Bloom: "So Mitzi saw them." Mitzi: "It said that when the sisters come to announce the return of the youngest one, mirrors will shatter as they walk by them. And that's what happened." Stella: "They must be pretty ugly then huh :-D" Well-played, Stella :-) Flora: "Stella :-\"
Bloom: "So that mirror?" Elle: "Yes. The three sisters were here." Mitzi: "And, if ever the fourth sister returns, ohh..." Layla: "What's going to happen then?" Elle: "She has blood red eyes, wears a foam white mask and a dreary dress." The Winx gasp. Elle: "They say her gaze is petrifying and whoever looks her in the eye is all but doomed." Mitzi: "Bloom, you're the only one you can help me. You've got to stop her, the fourth sister wants her revenge, I know it!" Bloom reassures her: "We'll help you Mitzi, I promise", before embracing Mitzi. Pretty rare image there, as we cut back to the shot of the Villa.
As the Winx come down the stairs, redhead skeleton rushes past Not!Kenny, and we're shown that the guests are looking at what looks like a painting with a crack on it. Bloom asks a guest why everyone's so worked up, but she seems disgusted when she sees it's a guy in a Darth Vader outfit. Layla: "Hey, check out the mirrors!" We're showing the "painting" with the crack, and then a broken mirror. Pink hat girl mentions the broken mirrors and says that it must be a sign. Redhead skeleton adds: "And I picked up the presence of four ghost-like entities." Bloom: "Four??" Tecna: "Guys, look at the picture..." We're shown the picture of the three sisters, in which a fourth suddenly appears.
Bloom: "Everyone stay put, this is dangerous. Winx, follow me!" The Winx follow Bloom out, while Mitzi's maid has a smug look on her face. Hmm...
The Winx are walking outside. Bloom tells the others to stay close. Layla: "I cannot stand the dark." She's frightened by one of the jack-o-lantern lights suddenly lighting up. Stella is playing with one of the jack-o-lantern lights: "Come on, it's just a pumpkin. On and off and on and off..." Musa: "Stella, we're not supposed to use magic on Earth. Besides, you're spoiling the element of surprise..." And I'm pretty sure it was in bad taste to prey on Layla's fears :-\
Stella hears a moaning noise: "Hang on a second..." The other Winx turn around. Stella: "There's someone over there." Flora: "It looks like a skeleton..." We see one of the faceless girls from earlier. Stella walks off, and the others look on with trepidation...
Stella walks up to a rake. Tecna and Bloom sigh in relief, as Stella discards the rake, saying "Someone could trip over this." But then she hears that moaning, and sees the faceless girl moaning about the sister's face crawling with maggots. Stella backs to the other Winx... and turns to see the other faceless girls. Bloom: "Careful girls, now we know what we're dealing with."
Cut back inside and... wait, all of the guests are laughing? WHA?
We hear one of the guests say "What a devilish prank", as Mitzi comes down the stairs with a jack-o-lantern in her right hand, before telling the guests: "That's enough!" Mitzi explains what's going on: "The three sisters did exist, but the rest I came up with. Now everyone take a pumpkin and get into position. It's time for the grand finale." During her spiel, one of the guests is dressed as the Frankenstein monster, with a clear orb above its head (HUH.) and Mitzi takes the jack-o-lantern and puts it underneath the orb (Double HUH.) and Mitzi cackles.
Back outside, the Winx are backing away from the three faceless sisters. Bloom points in the general backwards direction: "Over there!" The Winx back right out of the gate of the villa, with the sisters in hot pursuit.
We see a bunch of pumpkins floating in the nearby cemetery.
Layla: "I just saw some lights." Stella: "Of course you did, I'm right here." :-D The faceless sisters continue pursuing the Winx. Layla: "The lights are hovering over the gravestones." Stella: "We're surrounded by ghosts!"
Frankenstein monster and blue mask girl run behind the gravestones with their pumpkins. Blue mask: "The stars of our party aren't too bright huh?"
The Winx continue to back away from the faceless sisters, as we cut to a pair of purple-clad legs with short stilts tied to them having a sheet draped over them. Elle is taking Mitzi's glasses off her before putting a faceless sister's mask on her. Elle: "Hmm, perfect!" Medieval knight dude: "Full power!" Sister Mitzi heads off.
Cut back to the sisters approaching the Winx... and cut back to Sister Mitzi making her way, and remember Stella complaining that someone could trip over that rake she found? Well, Sister Mitzi gets thwapped by the rake and falls over :-D :-D
Back with the Winx. Tecna: "They have no faces! It's the three sisters!" One of the sisters says, "The fourth sister is here. Behold." The Winx turn around and see Sister Mitzi rushing in. Stella immediately says: "Mitzi!" The Winx seem bewildered at this and Sister Mitzi puts her arms down in utter defeat. The three faceless sisters take off their masks as Stella explains: "Just look at the way she carries herself :-)"
Mitzi: "It's a joke!" Mitzi takes off her mask and yells at Stella: "You are a witch!" Stella: "I see... she does have a ragged face!" Touche, Stella :-) Mitzi: "Oh come on admit it, you were scared out of your wits." Mitzi and the three "sisters" laugh. We see Frankenstein monster and blue mask girl laugh as well.
Mitzi: "Pathetic. What is it you call yourselves again? The Winx?" The Winx look disgusted at Mitzi... and then Bloom sees something...
Mitzi: "I mean... if you saw a real ghost, you'd completely lose it." However, as she's saying this, another one of the faceless sisters floats down and hovers behind Mitzi... Stella: "Sweetie, she's right behind you." Cut to the three "sisters" looking terrified and running away, leaving their masks behind :-D Mitzi turns around to see the ghost and faints. Blue mask girl also notices this: "It's a real ghost, there's nothing under the sheet." She runs off, leaving her pumpkin behind... while Frankenstein monster just seems confused :-D
The girls see the ghost hovering... and then the cloth comes off to reveal the pixies (with Piff making her usual noises :-)) We're shown the hovering pumpkins suddenly dropping to the ground. Tune: "Despite your prophecy the evening ended on the right note" Jolly: "My mission is not to understand destiny, but point out the possibility of a gloomy future." Amore: "And Stella shed light on the whole thing." I see what you did there ;-) The pixies and the Winx giggle...
...as we cut to a mixer board. Bloom: "Come on everybody, let's dance!" We're back inside as Bloom, Layla and Tecna show off their wicked (;-)) dance moves. Blue mask girl and Elle take a look at each other, before deciding to join in. Flora asks the hat dude from Romania: "Hey, why don't you come and dance? It's obviously more fun :-)" And for the first time all night, hat dude smiles.
Not!Kenny wanders around gets bumped by Bloom and another random guest as they're dancing :-D, while Musa dances with Freddy Kruger.
The pixies are sitting on a bunch of pumpkins (though Chatta chooses to just sit on the table). Lockette and Digit bounce a pumpkin against the table until it breaks, revealing Jolly inside it :-) as the pixies giggle.
Layla is dancing with a female guest, until she's abruptly taken away, as the doctor who greeted them early on takes over :-) Stella is dancing with pink hat guest... while wearing her pink hat :-D "Darling, love the hat. Totally hip!" Meanwhile, Not!Kenny wanders by some more.
As Flo continues to dance with Romanian hat dude, Darth Vader is talking with Mitzi...
Mitzi: "No, I refuse to dance. I'm in a really, really bad mood! >:-("
Darth: "Everyone has a dark side."
Mitzi: (Sneers)

She's clearly the only one who's not having fun, as CD player kid tells medieval knight dude: "Thanks for thinking of me, this party rocks!"
We cut to the outside of the villa one last time, to show a scarecrow (actually, one of the other guests) emerging from the mist and filling the screen with his face and cackling, probably putting more than a few kids off their breakfast :-\

Layla seemingly drops her report, and as Flo continues talking about her interview with a very ancient tree (typical Flora ;-)), Layla tells Stella about the party, and she describes it as involving "scary lanterns and a game of jacks" :-D
As Tecna is foreshadowing a future plot point: "Opposite Magix we've got the Wildlands. In that area magical energy is at absolute minimum", Stella mangles Bloom's message even more as she relays it over to Musa: "Hey, there's this school guy named Jack who's throwing this scary Winx party tonight!"
Bloom explains her report: "At Alfea, fairies learn to use their powers in a positive and creative way", as Musa tells Flora that there's a "scary party with cool guys, and virtually everyone wants to see the Winx". Aisha is next with her report about Cloud Tower: "which is a school where witches use magic to be destructive rather than do good", and Stella adds, "The Specialists are there to balance things between the schools, deal with that Wildland place, and of course keep us gorgeous fairies :-)" (I'm not actually sure if she does say "keep" in that line :-\)
Flora tells Tecna: "A party is being thrown for the Winx by virtually every cool guy, it's gonna be scary!" Tecna says: "Huh, a virtual party? In a scary sub-zero computer generated world? That's like such a great idea!" Pally overhears this and assigns her with some homework: "But first you'll have to write up a report; a report of at least 100 pages on my desk tomorrow morning." This prompts the other Winx to giggle :-D
Because Zing already had her episode a few weeks ago, we see a card with a picture of a pixie in a red and green jester outfit flying into Alfea, past a bunch of bewildered students and pixie pets, landing in front of a grinning Livy (and I notice now that she has little wings on her bare feet :-)) Pixie comes off the card and Livy identifies her as "Jolly", and Jolly proceeds to dust herself off, before addressing Livy as "little sister"... Fascinating.
So anyways, Livy tells Jolly about the "pumpkin party" she's going to tonight, and she says Jolly can come too. Jolly tells Livy: "There is a... a dark shadow above you", to which Livy replies: "Hmm?... I don't see it! Now come on, let's go let's go let's go!" Jolly clarifies that "The cards say a dark thing awaits the traveler." Livy looks a bit skeptical about this...
...as we fade out to Jolly walking through a foggy area. Jolly kneels down in a non-descript area, as a spotlight shines on her. She casts a spell that makes a couple of cards appear: "The caravan: Travellers on a journey. The sun is low: Travellers are youthful. (gasp) The frightened fawn: Danger hangs over the traveller's head! (gasp) The three faceless sisters! That means wickedness, suffering, or betrayal! My fairy and pixie friends... (makes cards disappear) Do not go to the party, a cruel trick awaits. You will not be able to tell truth from lies!"
Outside Alfea, Stella is in her fairy outfit with her scepter: "Come on girls, Gardenia's waiting!" And with one swing, she teleports the Winx girls off, except for Bloom, who thanks Jolly for the prophecy, and suspects that the three sisters could be the Trix... "But then again, why would they ever go to Gardenia?" Livy: "Right, so let's just worry about having fun tonight." Bloom: "Even though in Gardenia only little kids can see you, try to stay out of trouble..." Bloom teleports off in the middle of that sentence, which raises a couple of questions. Pixies: "Promise!"
Gardenia, and lots of people walking around in Halloween costumes! Stella: "Wow, did your friend invite the whole city?" Bloom: "No, Halloween is an international party, but there are also private parties like the one we're going to, and everybody wears a costume."
The pixies meet a woman with tarot cards: "My tarot cards will reveal your destiny." Jolly: "Puh-lease. Amateur!" :-D Tune and Chatta look at a dog barking at them. Tune (anyone miss her?): "Bad manners!" As is the case with 2x13, the dog's owner is bewildered what he is barking at.
Musa asks Bloom, "Does Mitzi know we're coming?" Bloom: "Well, Mitzi isn't exactly a friend, but she did say you guys could come along." Stella: "Of course, if she has some sense..." Stella is cut off by Mitzi's sudden arrival. Bloom introduces Mitzi to the Winx, and Mitzi responds: "The party is at 8 o clock. Try not to be so scruffy alright?"
Mitzi screeches off. Stella: "Speak for yourself!" Tecna: "Yeah really, was that blue top tacky or what?" :-) Bloom: "Hey, let's not worry about Mitzi alright? A party is a party!"
Lockette asks, "Bloom, is that a costume?" Kid in yellow poncho with really big glasses: "Hey, I'm the real one..." Bloom: says "This one's kind of hard to explain, Lockette." Lockette: "I don't get it."
Lockette encounters a pumpkin with a face carved in it. A jack-o-lantern, of course. Everyone's at where the party is taking place, as the girls head into a foggy area. Stella: "Compared to this, Cloud Tower is warm and fuzzy." I dunno, the events of the next few episodes after this one might make you reconsider...
Oh, and it's clear that the girls have transformed into their original flavor fairy outfits, but have covered them under robes (a la Secret of the Lost Kingdom).
Stella: "You sure this is the right place?" Bloom holds out a map: "Yeah, we're nearly there." In a random weird moment, we see a cat talk: "Hello Flora..." Flora turns around and the cat is gone. HUH. Flora: "A black cat just spoke to me." Tecna's in her fairy outfit but does not have her usual headgear... how's that supposed to work? "Flora, you're letting this place get to you." Pan up to show a woman riding on a broom :-D
Cut to Jolly and Livy. Jolly: "The three sisters are getting close, I can just feel it." Livy: "Come on Jolly, we're supposed to be having fun!" They come across a jack-o-lantern on a tree stump. Jolly: "Look at that sculpture... What a beautiful face!" HUH.
The Winx and the pixies converge on the gate. Bloom: "Here we are, this is the house." We cut to a sign saying "Silent Villa", to which Tecna reacts: "Wow, just like that video game: Resident Evil Doom II." (Wow, references to three video games in five seconds, must be some sort of record ;-))
As the girls enter, Layla asks "There will be dancing right?" Figures... Digit (anyone else miss her?) hears a noise: "Did you hear that? Listen up!" Digit looks around and finds a speaker: "Ah hah! Artifical noises!" Lockette, Digit and Chatta then spot a woman in a white mask roaming around, and Digit wonders if she's a fake too. Lockette: "Come on, let's go home!"
The girls (and the pixies) head to the villa. Bloom makes good use of the rather gothic-looking knocker. We see some dust come down, and Tecna notes: "This house is about to fall apart." Bloom: "I know." (Tecna exposes an un-sleeved arm as she says this. Tsk, sloppy animators...)
Bloom opens the door, and the girls get a cheap scare from a jack-o-lantern with a jester hat dropping down in the doorway :-D A girl in a maid outfit pushes the pumpkin back up and asks "Who are you?" Bloom introduces herself and her friends and gives the maid her invitation, and the maid lets them in.
Musa: "Very nice costume" Maid: "I'm not a party guest, I'm at Mitzi's service!" Musa: "Whoops." Maid brings them to the main room with the guests. Jolly and Digit float along. Flora gets freaked out by light coming out of a skull. Tune: "Is no one going to welcome us? How very rude." Chatta: "Aw, this party is so lame." Layla: "And it's so dark."
Bloom and Layla are greeted by one of the guests: "Hello hot stuff. If you're not feeling well, come and see me. I'm a doctor you know?" Layla: "Yeah, well doctor, you're the one making me feel queasy :-\" Doctor: "Huh, maybe you'd rather be in the hands of my assistant... the nurse." True to character, Nurse Elle is wearing an eyepatch over her right eye (our left), and is holding a syringe in her left hand (our right). "Hey, how did this trash get in here?" Bloom: "Um, is Mitzi around?" Nurse Elle: "What if she was? You really think she'd give you the time of day? As if Mitzi would waste her time chatting up little girls like you." Bloom seems offended at the nurse's comment, as she spots Mitzi coming down the staircase, in a rather fetching number, with a nice pumpkin-themed handbag. We see one random girl in a blue mask saying: "Wow, I wish I could carry myself like her!" This will be important.
And then the music starts skipping, and we see the actual source of the music: Some kid trying to fiddle around with the CD player :-D "Oh no... the CD's skipping!" Mitzi: "You loser! Get out! I never wanna see your face again! Got it?" The look on CD player kid's face says it all... 4Kids' change made this scene even better, and that's pretty impressive...
Mitzi heads over to Bloom: "Bloom, I'm so glad you came. Isn't this dress marvelous?" Bloom: "Oh yeah, it's really something else." Mitzi: "Something else? What kind of complement is that? Aren't these sparkles dazzling? I had them custom made, they cost me a fortune." I dunno, I don't see any sparkles on her outfit... Mitzi looks at the Winx girls' robes: "Now speaking of costumes... I find yours very disappointing. I told you to wear something elegant. This is a party, not a funeral." Stella: "Sweetie, put on your sunglasses..." Mitzi: "And why should I?" Mitzi then gasps as the girls drop their robes to reveal their fairy outfits (and Tecna's headgear is back on her head now ;-)) Doctor is like "Oh, wow..." and nurse elbows him :-D
A random girl asks: "How did you make your wings? They look so real." Flora: "That's a secret" Another random girl with a pink hat is checking out Stella's outfit: "I would so love to wear something like that, just once in my life." A redhead in a skeleton costume checks out Tecna's outfit: "It beats series 2902, Thermo Optic Camoflash!" Whatever that means... We pan over to Mitzi bieng approached by blue mask girl: "Would you like me to go and dim the lights a little bit?" Mitzi: "No, you'd just mess it up. And anyways, I've got a plan to scare them all right out of their halfwits." Mitzi has an evil laugh as we fade out.
Fade in on a jack-o-lantern on a non-descript green background. Jolly magically summons up her cards, and then apparently turns her head to the viewers: "And now, I shall read this pumpkin's future." HUH. Jolly levitates the cards into the air, and the pumpkin's facial reaction changes to an :-O face. The first card comes down and it's a picture of a pumpkin: "Hey look, it's you." The pumpkin smiles. Jolly brings down another card, and she seems alarmed. The pumpkin hops over to take a look. Jolly: "The three sisters will appear and totally ruin the party :-(" A third card comes down next to the other two, and then drops down to the ground. Jolly takes the card, and she and the pumpkin brace themselves before looking at the card... and it's a picture of a tree. "It's the card of wind!" Jolly slams it face down against the floor as we fade out again.
Fade in on a table with Jolly sitting next to a jack-o-lantern with the cards, warning Musa and Tecna, as well as their pixies, that "doom's right around the corner." Tune: "Well, let's just hope it's not the Trix."
Back at the party, Mitzi is talking with her maid: "Our guests are thirsty. Take care of it." Bloom and Flora are looking at a mysterious hat-wearing guest. Bloom: "Isn't he cute? He's even more mysterious than Helia." Flo: "Oh no, there's nothing with Helia." Bloom: "Don't worry, I'll do the introduction." Flo: "No wait!" (Facepalm) :-D
Bloom: "Hey, how are you doing? So, where are you from?" Guest: "Romania." Bloom: "Nice party huh?" Maid interrupts the proceedings: "Care for a Screaming Mary? It's a vampire special :-)" We see Mitzi turning her head pointedly. Flora takes one glass and Bloom takes two, and offers one to the guest. Guest rejects it saying: "Can't stand vampires" :-) Flo: "Ooh, Mitzi's friends are very boring... They're also anti-social :-\" Bloom: "Well, who am I going to give this drink to then?" Flo: "I guess you could use it as a good excuse to meet someone new :-)" The sparkles on the girls' outfits freeze before cutting to a wide shot of the villa...
...before cutting back inside, where Bloom is trying to offer another guest her other Screaming Mary. Guest tells Bloom "Leave me alone", which bewilders her. Flora: "That worked real well " Mitzi walks over and pulls hard on Bloom's wings, causing her to drop one of the glasses, and the Screaming Marys to spill on Bloom's fairy top :-D Mitzi: "Sorry about your dress :-) You know nothing stains like a Screaming Mary :-)"
Bloom removes the stain with her magic, also refilling up the glass. Bloom calls out to Mitzi: "Mitzi! Your drinks are great, it'd be a shame to spill one!" Mitzi's confused reaction says it all :-)
Outside the villa, three faceless girls wander around moaning "Her eyes are red, red like blood" "Her face is crawling with maggots" and "Whoever's touched will also perish, and will perish terribly..." We see one of them make a "Huh-huh-huh" laugh before heading off with the others...
Back inside, Jolly asks Musa: "Did you see some strange girls back there?" Musa: "Relax Jolly, they're just Mitzi's boring friends with costumes on. They think they're so cool..." We cut to a wide shot, showing Mitzi looking at Musa apparently standing alone in the walkway, because this was the good old days when the pixies were invisible to everyone (except kids and dogs) Mitzi tells a guy dressed as Freddy Kruger: "Hah! She's talking to herself. This is what happens when you hang out with Bloom too long :-D"
Jolly: "We'll soon be facing our doom, I can feel it :-(" Musa: "Hungry is what I feel." The doorbell rings. Musa sneaks up to open the door, and encounters... some guy in a certain familiar red mask. Musa: "Who are you?" Guy: "Just your friendly neighborhood cake delivery guy :-) Here ya go. Enjoy!"
Musa: "Cakes?" Freddy: "Of course my dear. These are very very special cakes... Pumpkin cakes made especially for Mitzi's party. Wanna see?" Mitzi: "Offer her one!" Freddy: "Which pumpkin would you like?" Freddy just stabs one of his iconic nails into one without letting Musa choose :-\ : "This one here?" Freddy cackles, and Musa takes the cake. While Musa is chewing on it, Freddy and Mitzi have a knowing glance... and then Musa clutches her tummy.
Musa seems offended at Freddy and Mitzi. Mitzi: "I guess you picked the earwax-flavored one :-D" Mitzi and Freddy walk away as Mitzi says: "Boy, is she pathetic or what?" Jolly looks teed off. She takes a look at the cakes and has an idea...
We see the guests suddenly turning around as they see Mitzi getting chased by hovering pumpkin cakes :-D Jolly: "Hey, don't look at me, you asked for it :-D" Livy: "Jolly, are you sure that was such a good idea?" (Beat) Jolly: "You're absolutely right Livy. I should have made them fight her..." :-D
Over to Tecna and Digit, where Tec is eating a piece of pie. Tec: "Digit, this crack worries me. I don't think the structure of this house is very sound." Digit: "What I find odd is that the crack originates from this picture..." We have a close-up on the picture showing three faceless girls, with really red hair. HUH. Digit points out this is just like Jolly's prophecy, and Tecna decides to warn the others.
Outside shot of villa. The full moon is looking good tonight :-)
The Winx are gathered in a back room. Bloom: "I don't like this three sisters stuff. If it's the Trix we could be in trouble." Layla: "Tecna, was the crack you saw like this one over here by any chance?" Tecna: "Hey, this crack starts from being a picture too." It's a picture of the Villa, and Tecna reads: "Renovated 15 times in 20 years, the mystery of Silent Villa. After each renovation, the house seems to age 50 years in a matter of months. No construction worker will go near the place anymore, reports the foreman." Tec: "This house is haunted." Short flashback to when Bloom knocked the door. "I guess that would explain all the squeaks we've been hearing." Mitzi's maid rushes in: "Bloom, quick. Mitzi's ill, she asks for your help."
Mitzi is moaning in bed, with Nurse Elle tending to her. Bloom: "Mitzi, what happened?" Mitzi cries for a bit and answers: "I saw them! All three of them!" Bloom: "Them?" Mitzi: "They're still alive! The mirror..." Nurse Elle: "Mitzi saw the three evil sisters who used to live in this house over a hundred years ago." Elle picks up an old-looking sheet of newspaper: "There was an article about it in the paper, about how their adorable younger sister was murdered when someone tried to demolish the house." Flora: "A 4th sister?" Elle: "Yup. It says here that in order to avenge her death, the three sisters made a deal with some witches who then turned their clothes to blood, and the three sisters haven't been heard from since." Digit: "Tecna, I saw one in the yard." Tecna: "Well then why didn't you report it?" Digit: "But I thought it was a prank." You'd think that Tecna would be more careful about not talking with her pixie while other "Muggles" are around :-\
Bloom: "So Mitzi saw them." Mitzi: "It said that when the sisters come to announce the return of the youngest one, mirrors will shatter as they walk by them. And that's what happened." Stella: "They must be pretty ugly then huh :-D" Well-played, Stella :-) Flora: "Stella :-\"
Bloom: "So that mirror?" Elle: "Yes. The three sisters were here." Mitzi: "And, if ever the fourth sister returns, ohh..." Layla: "What's going to happen then?" Elle: "She has blood red eyes, wears a foam white mask and a dreary dress." The Winx gasp. Elle: "They say her gaze is petrifying and whoever looks her in the eye is all but doomed." Mitzi: "Bloom, you're the only one you can help me. You've got to stop her, the fourth sister wants her revenge, I know it!" Bloom reassures her: "We'll help you Mitzi, I promise", before embracing Mitzi. Pretty rare image there, as we cut back to the shot of the Villa.
As the Winx come down the stairs, redhead skeleton rushes past Not!Kenny, and we're shown that the guests are looking at what looks like a painting with a crack on it. Bloom asks a guest why everyone's so worked up, but she seems disgusted when she sees it's a guy in a Darth Vader outfit. Layla: "Hey, check out the mirrors!" We're showing the "painting" with the crack, and then a broken mirror. Pink hat girl mentions the broken mirrors and says that it must be a sign. Redhead skeleton adds: "And I picked up the presence of four ghost-like entities." Bloom: "Four??" Tecna: "Guys, look at the picture..." We're shown the picture of the three sisters, in which a fourth suddenly appears.
Bloom: "Everyone stay put, this is dangerous. Winx, follow me!" The Winx follow Bloom out, while Mitzi's maid has a smug look on her face. Hmm...
The Winx are walking outside. Bloom tells the others to stay close. Layla: "I cannot stand the dark." She's frightened by one of the jack-o-lantern lights suddenly lighting up. Stella is playing with one of the jack-o-lantern lights: "Come on, it's just a pumpkin. On and off and on and off..." Musa: "Stella, we're not supposed to use magic on Earth. Besides, you're spoiling the element of surprise..." And I'm pretty sure it was in bad taste to prey on Layla's fears :-\
Stella hears a moaning noise: "Hang on a second..." The other Winx turn around. Stella: "There's someone over there." Flora: "It looks like a skeleton..." We see one of the faceless girls from earlier. Stella walks off, and the others look on with trepidation...
Stella walks up to a rake. Tecna and Bloom sigh in relief, as Stella discards the rake, saying "Someone could trip over this." But then she hears that moaning, and sees the faceless girl moaning about the sister's face crawling with maggots. Stella backs to the other Winx... and turns to see the other faceless girls. Bloom: "Careful girls, now we know what we're dealing with."
Cut back inside and... wait, all of the guests are laughing? WHA?
We hear one of the guests say "What a devilish prank", as Mitzi comes down the stairs with a jack-o-lantern in her right hand, before telling the guests: "That's enough!" Mitzi explains what's going on: "The three sisters did exist, but the rest I came up with. Now everyone take a pumpkin and get into position. It's time for the grand finale." During her spiel, one of the guests is dressed as the Frankenstein monster, with a clear orb above its head (HUH.) and Mitzi takes the jack-o-lantern and puts it underneath the orb (Double HUH.) and Mitzi cackles.
Back outside, the Winx are backing away from the three faceless sisters. Bloom points in the general backwards direction: "Over there!" The Winx back right out of the gate of the villa, with the sisters in hot pursuit.
We see a bunch of pumpkins floating in the nearby cemetery.
Layla: "I just saw some lights." Stella: "Of course you did, I'm right here." :-D The faceless sisters continue pursuing the Winx. Layla: "The lights are hovering over the gravestones." Stella: "We're surrounded by ghosts!"
Frankenstein monster and blue mask girl run behind the gravestones with their pumpkins. Blue mask: "The stars of our party aren't too bright huh?"
The Winx continue to back away from the faceless sisters, as we cut to a pair of purple-clad legs with short stilts tied to them having a sheet draped over them. Elle is taking Mitzi's glasses off her before putting a faceless sister's mask on her. Elle: "Hmm, perfect!" Medieval knight dude: "Full power!" Sister Mitzi heads off.
Cut back to the sisters approaching the Winx... and cut back to Sister Mitzi making her way, and remember Stella complaining that someone could trip over that rake she found? Well, Sister Mitzi gets thwapped by the rake and falls over :-D :-D
Back with the Winx. Tecna: "They have no faces! It's the three sisters!" One of the sisters says, "The fourth sister is here. Behold." The Winx turn around and see Sister Mitzi rushing in. Stella immediately says: "Mitzi!" The Winx seem bewildered at this and Sister Mitzi puts her arms down in utter defeat. The three faceless sisters take off their masks as Stella explains: "Just look at the way she carries herself :-)"
Mitzi: "It's a joke!" Mitzi takes off her mask and yells at Stella: "You are a witch!" Stella: "I see... she does have a ragged face!" Touche, Stella :-) Mitzi: "Oh come on admit it, you were scared out of your wits." Mitzi and the three "sisters" laugh. We see Frankenstein monster and blue mask girl laugh as well.
Mitzi: "Pathetic. What is it you call yourselves again? The Winx?" The Winx look disgusted at Mitzi... and then Bloom sees something...
Mitzi: "I mean... if you saw a real ghost, you'd completely lose it." However, as she's saying this, another one of the faceless sisters floats down and hovers behind Mitzi... Stella: "Sweetie, she's right behind you." Cut to the three "sisters" looking terrified and running away, leaving their masks behind :-D Mitzi turns around to see the ghost and faints. Blue mask girl also notices this: "It's a real ghost, there's nothing under the sheet." She runs off, leaving her pumpkin behind... while Frankenstein monster just seems confused :-D
The girls see the ghost hovering... and then the cloth comes off to reveal the pixies (with Piff making her usual noises :-)) We're shown the hovering pumpkins suddenly dropping to the ground. Tune: "Despite your prophecy the evening ended on the right note" Jolly: "My mission is not to understand destiny, but point out the possibility of a gloomy future." Amore: "And Stella shed light on the whole thing." I see what you did there ;-) The pixies and the Winx giggle...
...as we cut to a mixer board. Bloom: "Come on everybody, let's dance!" We're back inside as Bloom, Layla and Tecna show off their wicked (;-)) dance moves. Blue mask girl and Elle take a look at each other, before deciding to join in. Flora asks the hat dude from Romania: "Hey, why don't you come and dance? It's obviously more fun :-)" And for the first time all night, hat dude smiles.
Not!Kenny wanders around gets bumped by Bloom and another random guest as they're dancing :-D, while Musa dances with Freddy Kruger.
The pixies are sitting on a bunch of pumpkins (though Chatta chooses to just sit on the table). Lockette and Digit bounce a pumpkin against the table until it breaks, revealing Jolly inside it :-) as the pixies giggle.
Layla is dancing with a female guest, until she's abruptly taken away, as the doctor who greeted them early on takes over :-) Stella is dancing with pink hat guest... while wearing her pink hat :-D "Darling, love the hat. Totally hip!" Meanwhile, Not!Kenny wanders by some more.
As Flo continues to dance with Romanian hat dude, Darth Vader is talking with Mitzi...
Mitzi: "No, I refuse to dance. I'm in a really, really bad mood! >:-("
Darth: "Everyone has a dark side."
Mitzi: (Sneers)

She's clearly the only one who's not having fun, as CD player kid tells medieval knight dude: "Thanks for thinking of me, this party rocks!"
We cut to the outside of the villa one last time, to show a scarecrow (actually, one of the other guests) emerging from the mist and filling the screen with his face and cackling, probably putting more than a few kids off their breakfast :-\
